Thread: Guess what MAJOR ARMOR NERF IN PUBLISH 10 from e3

Nerfing doesn't fix anything, it leads to more nerfs, a very viscious cycle.
There are REASONS most games do not introduce the game or the pvp until its FINISHED and WELL THOUGHT out because if you do, you get this.
I have played many hours and spent lots of money making my character and equipping himfor how it is.
If they change all that, its basically like starting over.
If they REQUIRE you to group, I'll quit playing. I have a real life and a real job, I play late nights and days off, I want to play the game, not run around looking for a group.
Also, remember when everyone cried about nerfing TKA. 80-90% kinetic = TKWho? Now its all about nerfing stun damage or targeted mind attacks (that is what all of this boils down too).
Nerfing buffs alienates a whole professions in my opinion.
If you take out or make buffs useless, why be a doctor?
I'm TKA I can heal my own wounds, novice medic = use stim b; and takes up a lot less skill points.
Rez, heal? Yeah right, when is the last time any doctor made real money doing that.
If they bring Rifleman and CM in line with the other professions, and fix what is BROKEN then there is no reason to cry nerf.
Fencer does stun, and has low dmg, you hardly hear any whining about that.
Rifleman is waaaaay too powerful.
CM is BROKEN.
But no, lets do a combat rebalance after the game has been out a year.
It will throw everything out of whack, make ppl's hard work over the last many months pretty much useless, and change the way the entire game is played.
Kinda sounds like just giving up and starting over to me.
Jedi sucks? Too hard to fix, lets just redo the whole thing.
Combat is unbalanced? Lets just scrap that and start over.
Not to mention that it'll take how long (if ever) for them to get the combat rebalance to work properly.
Don't kid yourselfs, they fixed ID and broke crafting.
The mission terminals aren't working... sometimes they pay, sometimes they don't, sometimes you LOSE money. Is this a new stealth nerf money sink?
The point is you can't just "scrap a system" because of people crying. There will ALWAYS be an advantage somewhere. If there isn't, **edit** is the point of a roleplaying game anyway.
The best will be the best.
Unless you make all armor identical except looks, there will always be a BEST armor.
You guys scream "nerf the 90% comp and doctors buffs"!!
If they cut damage in half, and nerf comp armor to 45% eff, we are in the same place, with something else to cry about

How about makingresource stats not matter in the crafting process, and no matter what is created all armor has the same stats in that class, ie...all crafted composite is like 50% resists, etc? <---------ps......sarcasm.
I'm an armorsmith, I am striving to make the best armor I can, not jsut Composite but all armor types (I'm a masochist *smirk*)
In my opinion, resists arent the problem, it's that the encumbrance for having those mega resists can be entirely negated. Some encumbrance should not be able to be mitigated (I am not advocating nerfing buffs, but that there be 2 levels of encumbrance, a percentage of the total which cannot be negated). Some moves, a range of specials, should not be possible or should have a reduced effectiveness purely because of the encumbrance of the armor, not only because of the pool. Movement rate and terrain negotiation should also be highly affected by armor, not just on foot but on a mount or vehicle (if you drive a pickup without a load and then with a full heavy load, you -will- notice the difference). At the same time, though, there needs to be more reward for experimenting on encumbrances vs resists.
As for when buffs wear off... The armor shouldn't fall off (as was suggested at one time by a player), but the penalties for wearing it (movement rate, regeneration, reduction on certain types of moves, etc) should increase expotentially (almost like the effect of Neutron Pixie wearing off) until you take the armor off. Perhaps even the primary stat could be effected directly with a percentage of the encumbrance when it is not mitigated.
The penalty for high resists -should- be high, near crippling, encumbrance. That alone would encourage seeking less encumbering protections.
BTW, the protections on the other armors, while not as encompassing as Composite, can actually reach pretty decent numbers (no, not 80+%) with qualtity resources. The Composite only world is a combination of armorsmiths and their customers. Many armor wearers won't even entertain the thought of anything but Composite and most armorsmiths know they can charge more on Composite than any other armor (high return on investment). Many armorsmiths (while decrying a lack of options to craft) will -only- make Composite and turn up their noses at the rest mostly because they know the Comp will sell and can be sold at ludicrous prices. The creature organics in most of the other armors can be daunting and the competition with doctors for the harvesters time does make it hard to get quality resources for reasonable cost making the return on investment -much- lower. (but really.... what the heck is the point of amassing a pixel wealth?)
I am one of the few smiths who does work with the other armor types and is interested in seeing what they can do.
I think it should be possible to make 70% base comp...but it should not be possible to wear something that weighs (900 / 900 / 900) in HAM. I agree with a few of the earlier mentions...give us a reason to experiment on something other than base. Make buffs, foods, and spices less effective regarding encumberance...then we might actually have to use some measure of intelligence in our crafting to make more balanced suits of armor, instead of hitting the same button over and over again (like a monkey would do).
Currently, I'm training my cat to make composite for me while I'm afk. Hehe...it's a real time-saver...if only I could get her to stop shedding hairs into the keyboard and fans.

All I can say is if having to group will make you quit, best of luck to you elsewhere. I recomend to you: "Deer Hunter".
But here is a few things to have in mind: Right now its hard to find anyone to group with simply because everything is soloable. However, when the CB comes in, trust me, you'll find allot of people who are willing to group because it will be the fastest gain in XP. Not everything will be required to group of coarse, you could hunt on lesser dangerous planets like Tatooine, Naboo, etc. It may not besexy, buta hell of allot more realistic than soloing a Rancor. The adventure planets will be impossible to solo.
I remember in Beta when I wanted to go to Endor, people kept telling me: "dont ever go to Endor alone, go with a group". That struck fear into my character. I went anyways because I was excited about going and exploring the planet. Sure enough, I took a few steps away from the Science outpost and I was dead. I then went back to Endor a few hours later and arriving at the Smugglers outpost, I foundhuge masses of people eager to go out hunting. I approached the crowd and a few seconds later I got the invite to the group. From there, we went out, 20 of us, and hunted for hours. At one point, everyone got separated, most died, and I was left alone trying to get back home. I spent 40 minutes running back to the starport.. watching the radar for red dots (back in beta, everything was a red dot in radar, even non aggressive creatures). Everything except for running back home was very memorable.. now we have speeders.
Lets not forget what theMM means in MMORPG. its "Massive Multiplayer".
The game was a heck of allot better back then simply because it was impossible to solo in adventure planets. I would be leaving this game if it was not for the CB.
I don't agree.
I don't need xp, my template is finished. I hunt for avian/herbivore. If I can't do that solo, no reason for me to play.

I agree, but I am complaining because I have a very strong feeling that they will not take the 90% resist armor out of the game, just make it so it's no longer craftable. Imagine trying to PvP someone if they have 90% resist armor, and you are capped at say 75%. That's a huge difference. At least now, it's possible to go out and get yourself a suite of 90% resist, especially if you befriend an AS.

You are preaching to the choir as I am a Wookiee and have been fighting against these odds since day 1. I am usually fighting someone who has 90% composite while I am running around with armor that is less protective than Ubeze! They should simply nerf the existing armor down to the same levels as the post nerf crafted composite, they shouldn't grandfather the existing armor as they have done to a lot of weapons in the past.
Oh and anyone that says an extra 700 points on your HAM makes up for the difference in armor has obviously never played as a wookiee. I have played both Human and wookiee characters and I will take good armor over 700 extra points in HAM any day.

So you don't agree on the basic principle of how a MMORPG is supposed to work?
TH said that now is the time to harvest resources because of the low difficulty of the mobs. You being able to solo high level mobs is broken and the grand majority ofpeople will tell you that. After the CB, you'll have to find other people who are also after herb/avian meats and hunt together. Again, this is part of how the game is designed to work, to have collaborative efforts and not play the game as a single player game with a built in chat room.
I respect your solo playstyle, but this is simply not the way this game was supposed to work.
I respect group play, but I do NOT believe that should be the only option.
Hello all armorsmith,
I am a pretty new armorsmith so forgive if I sound stupid or Noob
Anyway, nerf the composite, it's one of many way to introduce variety into the armor world. Now people will turn to other armor, chitin, padded.....etc. However by doing this, they will have to rebalance the whole combat and many other stuffs to make it fit into the nerf armor situation. This is what i been thinking, instead of nerfing composite, why don't they enhance the existing armor? I am about to compy some idea from some one in this forum ![]()
Instead of nerfing composite, give others armors enhance like chitin +15 for dodge or speed, tantel increase on secondary of HAM by 5% (like bublegum crisis mobile suit
) Padded +15 to poison resist.......etc. Also, the dev can make certain armor will give a bonus to certain profession as well, like ubese, light on HAM, +5 to ua acuracy (TKA been crying out for an armor of their own
Rifleman can wear tantel with -5% on the cost of mind....etc.
In the end, what i am trying to say is that the game is very complicated and not full completed already, why add more problems to the players? Instead of nerf armor, throw in couple new one, why don't they just enhance the currents armors at hand?
Just a few dumb idea from a Newbie Master armorsmith on shawdowfire.
Cant agree more. Substat buffs make everything way too easy. Thats the MAIN reason why people live forever. Because they can wear the 90% base armor, then regen the small health loss in no time at all.
Nerfing or eliminating substat buffs would force people to make wise choices on a balance or armor/weapons/specials. Then the people who are smart will dominate the battle field unlike the typical pvper who spams the same attacks with thier sunt weapons.
yes, and it would also aleinate an enitire profession. Is it not easier to drop the stats on an armor than do this. And i want someone to plz tell me why anyone should be able to stand in pvp through 10 people atacking them and live. That's crap, Anyone that says it's not is crazy. I don't want this game to become a must group game either. I solo all the time and If you have not noticed, i can't wear composite. So everyone here that is whining about not being able to solo in pve is whining for no reason. You can still solo mobs people, this is a pvp nerf not a nerf for pve.
yes they may drop the dmg you can do as well, but all it's going to do is mak the game more interesting to play, there are alot of people leaving this game from bordom, not because they can't pvp or pve solo. They need this nerf on Composite to make the game fun again for all. It's not fun getting your ass kicked when you are a master of any combat profession if you don't have composite and the one your fighting does.
The one's that are whining are races that can wear the composite and hate us that use stun weapons. Let's see here, so what your all saying is that you should never take any damage because that would make you, hmmmm? not a battle droid!!!! Your all organic life forms people, your supposed to take damage. your supposed to be smart in the way your fighting and what your fighting. If you are not thinking in battle then what's the point?
As for doctor's and there buffs. They have already balanced this profession. They need to leave it alone. This is your ticket to solo engagement in pve people. Don't get me wrong I don't think that composite should be dropped to 50% either, But 65 or 70% would not be a bad deal. I was on dathmir soloing Rancors with no armor and buffs. Now i have the kashyyykian ceremonial armor and it's got a kinetic of 35% and In my mind that rocks. That little bit of damage mitigation make all the difference, yet I still have to think about what the hell I'm doing.

No, it won't. I simply cancel my account if the game gets to a point where I don't enjoy it. I won't post here or elsewhere about it, I'll just cancel. No fuss.
The game needs the players, not the other way around.
