HAHA everyone who thinks that a high HAM UNBUFFED should be a reason for wookiees not to have armor fine remove all doc buffs and make the armor in game be as rare as mandoloran to get ! Then wookiees will get the warrior respect they RIGHFULLY DESERVE !!!

So, about that armor.... I can't wait. I'm already collecting resources, and when I tracked down the wood veins to the highest concentration, there was already a few harvs there. They were a smith's, could tell from the name of the harv. So people are gonna make it.

1 thing though. I've seen some people say Dant avian bone and some people say Dant animal bone. Which is it ? I'm hoping avian cause animal bone is a pain.

Also can't wait to see some stats. Hopefully this will go live Tuesday ?

Doctors buffs are certainly changing the playing field and marginalize any ham advantages that wookiees posess. However with quests like the deathwatch bunker coming online that multiple groups of 20 elites walk into and wake up in the cloning facility, Removing buffs or reducing their potency will require major rework of certain aspects of the game. So be carefull what you wish for in this regard. If the buff is made less potent it will likely be months before certain quests are rebalanced to account for a nerf of this sort.

Regardless of buffs there is no balance right now for wookiees in PVP or any higher level quests for that matter, perhaps composite for wookiees isn't appropriate but 50% kinetic protection in no way compares to 80% protection pretty much across the board for all other species. Do the math. For those of you that can't here's a simplebest case scenario for a wookiee:

wookiee 1200 health with 50% kinetic armour

human 800 health with 80% kinetic armour

both getting hit by 100 dpstargeting the health pool

the humanloses 20 ham per second meaning that he will last 40 seconds

the wookieeloses 50health per second meaning that he will last 24 seconds

this is not balance by any stretch of the imagination. It's a Wookiee slaughter.

this is how it works unbuffed. the buff increases the other species advantage exponentially. So all you wookiee haters just shut up with your recommendations and ridiculously ill thought out statements about the wookiees innate advantages. Any newb fresh on these days can buy a cheap set of armour that puts the innate wookiee advantage to shame.

At this point I am not in favor of removing buffs, as much of the game will lose its playability. No offense to the designers but this game has been out for over a year now and the trade window still doesn't work right. Do you have any idea what removing Buffs would do to game play at this point in the system evolution??? Teams of buffed people have trouble getting past the entrance to the geonoshian caves. Let alone traversing it. And that is only mid range on the difficulty scale these days.

The bottom line is that wookiees need better armour options. Anything less than 70% across the board resistance is silly. Even the concept that composite couldn't be modified for wookiee use is insulting. Wookiees are bigger and stronger. Most other species should fall before us if they pick a fight. If we're trying for realism that is. If we're trying for balance then some higher resist armour is mandatory.

There is no doubt about it that it's not balanced, but it was also not intended to have 80% resistant armor. It's just something that happened. I've been communicating with some QA's and I've been told it's not intended for someone of any profession to constantly hit a target and never miss. PVE or PVP.

Not balanced, yes, but what is right now? I'm not being negative, just stating simple facts. All will change soon... and let's just hope it's a good change to make combat actually fun for once.

what about another option entirely? I mean, wookies really REALLY need more protection, but wookies wearing heavy armor just doesn't fit no matter how you look at it. What about some sort of either skill enhancing wookie clothing that gave bonuses to defenses, or maybe wookies have the ability to gain damage mitigation 4, possibly 5, with higher and higher defenses, or maybe just make PSGs that don't suck for wookies? something that would even out the races but keep the "chewie" motif going and not turn a badass gunslinging walking carpet into a robo cop?

I just want to STRANGLE people that say this. THE HIGHER HAM BARELY DOES ANYTHING FOR US. If we're still getting hit for 100-200 damage from weak cretures, and 500-whatever amount of damage by players, what good is an extra 350 health or whatever? It's not...it just delays the time till you fall, and you're DB'd.

"it doesn't fit"

beyond the Stormtrooper armor and the Fett armor, did you notice anything else of practical use ?

(dont get me started with lando's tantel or leia's Ubese)

Can you point me to the scene with humans running around high on steroids wearing 2 tons composite armors ?

yeah... "it doesn't fit"

yes we do have stats

imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=98745

this piece was made with all the current resources on TC and three 4%kinetic/4% base layers were used. now considering most armorsmiths can make 14% kinetic/4% base layers plus we will have better resources most likely because the stuff on TC right now is really really bad so on the day this goes live, you're looking at 60%+ and 80%kinetic, with 25% stun, if the as uses stun layers that is, they might do energy to get 80/80/60

*grin* Yeah, it's amazing (or perhaps tragic) about how people seem to fail to comprehend or just be so sheerly self important to make statements like that. Sure, the "fact" is wookiees are the highest HAM based race in the game, but in "practicality" it's hardly anything to sing about.

Perhaps we can sell Sweere a solar powered torch. Because hey, it's solar powered right, you don't need batteries right? Who cares about how practical it is, right?

Also, dont forget we have lower regen stats on the mind and nothing comparable to Zabrak equilib.

Ok all...I rarely chime in while I read the forums, however, the time has come to let some of this stuff out...

...Do any of you remember (I have been on since original Beta) the good old days when a hunting group was a NECESSITY?!?!

What I mean is, I remember the days when I would go to Danthomir (as a master CH, Master Rifle Wookie) and I would join a fairly decent size group of 5-10 Peeps. We would then go out hunting and after every few battles we would HAVE to stop, set up camp, get re-buffed, healed, danced, etc. The rangers would bust out a nice tent house, the docs and medics would heal you up, and the dancers and musicians would put on a little show. Ahhh those were the days! I remember when a Rancor was a terrifing sight, a GPS lair was a sunting experience, and Sharnaffs were something you would attempt to avoid unless you were with a hunting group.

Now I go to Dathomir and the routine is always the same. Catch a MEGA buff, spam for solo mission groups (Oxymoron if I have ever heard one) and then I run out to the lair, take out 4-6 Rancs SOLO and get my 36000 Cr reward. The last time I hunted in a group there were 6 of us and we all went from nest to nest clearing them out way too fast and having the occasional cry for "dude, you are staling my xp cuz you are a TKM" cry.

All i want to say by this post is that armor is GREAT!!! It has a huge market, groups are not necessary anymore and, unfortunately, the game is going in a direction where unless something is done soon, we will see the Star Warsiness of it all go away. I miss the good ol days when the game was a social one and I think several things are killing this game.

Buffs are way too powerful!, Armor is way too powerful!, We are way too powerful! Creatures are in need of a huge revamp! I know, I know...we all see the posts for this crap. The solution is simple. Bring the game back to what it was before! Take away the huge buff margins, give us a balance where classes complement each other (the CH comes to mind here...gone are the days of the CH as a tanker for the group). Make the game what it once used to be!!!

When I first started playing this game I was hooked. Now I log on just to pay the maintanance on my houses, empty my harvesters, and make the occasional weekly run to Dathomir to make back the cost of keeping all of the above alive. My friends are all gone, the noobs master a profession in a few days and the professions are all broken.

My problem is one that reaches everyone. The AS forum is superb for info on armor and I think that should stay the same. If you can afford to pay a ton of money for armor then you should be UBER. If you cannot, however, you should join groups in order to re-create the experience that I had when I first started hunting. A well balanced group should be a necessity!!!

Yes, I'll buy the new wookie armor, yes I'll wear it but how can I survive without buffs in PvP battle? I hate to gripe on the docs cuz I think they are great, but damn the buffs...(I was master Doc once) they make the armor not necessary, and the grouping almost nonexistant. Oh well.... hopefully JTL will bring a breath of fresh air soon...till then, I guess I keep paying maintance on the houses and making a ton of cash soloing Rancors...I guess there is a good point to this...I'll be filthy rich by the time JTL comes out!
