As a former BH and Carbineer and now AS and Tailor, I think its a great idea. It lets Tailors and DE's get in on the action which they deserve finally, something for them to do. Going from combat to crafting is like playing two different games now, and I think mixing it up a little is a good thing. It gives each Profession something new to try.

After all, there are some clothing aspects to the Mando Armor, hence where the Tailor should come in. And if there is something special to the armor that requires the DE to be needed, hence his part. We arent creating this armor, were modifying it from what it sounds like. Which is reasonable since that technology was/is been lost with the Mandolorians.

Just because they require you to actually go out and do something as opposed to sitting in front of your machine crafting is a nice change of pace. If it really bugs you that much to actually go out and play the game and not just sit back and craft, then dont try it. Simple enough!

So when the Devs finally come up with an ides that requires a few of the Professions to go and work together, just enjoy your part instead of complaining about what you arent getting to do.

I think it makes perfect sense. The electronics involved in Mandalorian armor certainly do not fall within the domain of an armorsmith. Also, as a non-armorsmith, I think it's much more fair that DE's and tailors get involved in the deal so that armorsmiths don't get to line their pockets even more with the millions of credits that would be charged for a single piece.

I hope I see more of it that I have RIS armor. I'm still yet to see a single piece of it.

i agree. its not like armorsmiths are the richest players in the game already. and with wookie armor being added, tailors got screwed. this is fair, and fits continuity. now if they'd only give me a reason for being a master scout.....

well after reading all these posts my alt is dropping merchant and picking up DE and i'm grabbing a group of 20 and heading down into that cave and well make myself a set manda, i'm now very happy with my alts choice of profession, though being a wookie is going to limit his survivablity a bit.

Funny.. if we are as rich and powerful as you guys say..then you will have almost no chance what so ever in getting a REAL armormsmith to give up hours of his or her time to push a button thats for sure.. better start holo'in yourself up to Master AS so YOU can fightYOUR way in with your buds and push the button. I would have to be extremely bored to even think about doing such a thing.. That or someones gonna pay me big time.. And you know what.. I dont think anyone hasTHAT much money!..Not even another smith.

I hope this is incorrect data because this sounds like a really absurd idea that mainly goes against the whole theme of SWG.. Combat guys are just that combat guys..they can infiltrate, search, destroy and retrieve.. Incase you forgot ..look at your skill trees..pehaps you should be reminded of what you are supposed to be good at. Mine says ARMOR. I didnt get carpal tunnel clicking on resources to make anything else. It isnt my fault Sony wont put decent droids into the game.. That would be great. I want to see more useful professions.. But I dont want to make droids. I want to make ARMOR.. So therefore im an Armor smith. The combat types fight day in and day out and they come inand needa suit of armor and get upset when they have to buy it. Well I have to mine/buy everything thats in that suit.. I spend days working on good schematics and coming up with better ways to make ARMOR. It would be a severe slap in the face is any other profession made ARMOR. I have no issue relying on other classes for components and such that go into the suits but the final combine should be by and armorsmith. If I have to travel to a very dangerous place and waste time camping camping camping and fighting , running, running, running. then some of you combat smiths will have to do this sort of thing as I am a pure crafter. I see this as an attempt to get me away from doing whats important ..that is making ARMOR for you guys and being stuck in some dungeon dying over and over again when I could be making ARMOR is not going to be my idea of fun.

Aschematic.. and serialized sub components looted from the dungeon, along with other components that are created by a droid engineer and a Tailor should be whats required.. It is absured to have to go to the dungeon to do this.Let the combat types do their thing byretrieving the items needed if thats the way they wantto do it. The serializedcomponents will keep items from being mass producted the same way that rancor hide, krayt tisuse, and night sister shards work today. Make the components super rare drops and there you go.... Thewarrior types would win out because an armorsmith wont be able to get the items himself anyway so they are gonna make decent money if anyone does outta that deal.

I want to hear the crys of outrage by the combat professions if SOE decides to give some combat related skill to armorsmiths. LOL. Because the biggest babies in this game most certainly arent the crafters thats for sure. I deal with them every day so I know who WHINES the loudest LOL.

PS. If you own a suit of RIS armor you got to be one of the biggest suckers in SWG. Thats junk. Thank you for the thought SOE, but you gotta do better than that..otherwise just dont even try.

Im all for needing other professions help to make stuff. It's fine and it's the kind of thing guilds and friendships are born from. BUT it has to be resonable. Yes make there be electronics that a DE makes that are required for the Mandalorian armor, yes make tailor clothes necessary in order for this armor to be made and yes I think it's a good thing. BUT armorsmiths should make the finished product...this is armor and they are armorsmiths.

Most armorsmiths are not in it for the money. There are easier ways to make money. We're in it because we like the challenge of balancing the %s with the ham and seeing how far we can take it. So anyone who says "you armorsmiths have enough money don't complain, does not understand us"

Armorsmithing requires the most different types of resources and many of the unthankful masses really scrutinize your goods more so than any other profession. You'll have people dissing your armor for a 1% less protection. I don't think any other crafting profession has it has hard. Yes I'm saying that we have it the hardest. We require hides, bones, chemicals, metals, ores, gasses, tailor made items and much of the time very rare and specific kinds of each, so it's a tough racket. Besides the fact that we have to educate all new customers on how slicing works, encumberance and what type of damage kinetic is as opposed to energy. So yeah I'm saying we have it the hardest. So if you make Mandalorian armor craftable and you give any of the final pieces to any other profession armorsmiths are not going to be happy.

Interesting take on RIS. I've been enjoying my search for the components. Looks like it has decents stats too, if you make it properly.

Personally, I like doing a little combat. To each his own.

Oh well.. Im a Master Armorsmith, Master Artisan, Master Merchant, Novice Weaponsmith, Novice Scout , Novice Tailor. I carry a nightsister lance but have yet to hit anything with it. My armor is nice but it will only protect me a short time but other than that Ive no combat skills. My job is to sit in my shop and support my PA with Armor and other items they may need so dungeons arent my cup of tea at all becuase that would be instant death. Thats why I have an alt...to do the fighting.

Anyone who thinks RIS is junk, doesn't know how to make it properly. Either that or they are just jealous

I dont have a problem with new content unless it allows others to experiment armor, or highly customize armor. If it is a quest item that is basically built by a droid or already put together then fine. Otherwise it degrades the smith.. I for one do not think it makes sense that I should be able to make droids, create BE tissues or anything that I havent trained in. So if the stats on the Mandalorian armorextends beyondanything more than the basic bone armor (which artisans can make) that puts us in the realm of the armor smith.. and most likely the Master Armor smith. Big deal if a Master Smith , Master Tailor and Master DE are required to be present to assemble the armor. The problem comes up when the DE has a schematic for a bracer in his hand that he creates by EXPERIMENTING and ASSEMBLING the bracer. That is a major ...big.. deal. Anyway if all the bracers are the same and you cannot change the color or experiment it anyway and a droid engineer adds electronics then that is totally different ...he is adding electronics to armor not creating it. Yea well call me nit picky ... You wont find any profession happy about armorsmiths being able to assemble and experiment on their line of product, and Im certain that if armorsmiths were granted "super tanking" abilities most combat professions would be kinda upset about it. SOE needs to bring the other classes up so that they have a higher "importance" if that is what you guys think that needs to happen (this quest isnt going to make anyone want to be a droid engineer or Tailor that isnt already)..It needs to be done in a fashion consistent with their abilites..not someone elses. If you look at the crafting professions you will see they are all already kind of dependent on each other. BE's items go in cloth or reinforced fiber panels made by tailors. Tailors can make components for armor, Armorsmiths provide armor for droids.... on and on... So with that saidI hope the Mandalorian armor gets put into the game, it would be nice to make it but it seems SOE wants it to be a very rare and diffiult process. I havent gotten rich off of RIS armor, and I doubt Manalorian will be any different. Sony pretty much intended that player crafteditems dominate so that hopefully will continue.

The only reason that armor is worth so much is the resources to get them cost alot of money and the combat types pay the prices asked for the armor. If no one bought it then the resource guys couldnt sell to the smith at inflated prices and thus the prices would be cheaper. Theres like this trend where people think we are the ultra elite, but yet they couldnt deal with what we go through to be as good as we are at what we do and have all we need to do it with plus compete with other smiths who are almost infinitely richer than we are. Its not like I can do anything with my money when I make it besides buy more harvesters or resources.. What else would I buy?? Furniture for my house? Medicine I dont need? Certainly cant use a gun and have no clue what to do with that stick I carry around... and armor? haha I wear a suit of Rancor Padded because its low encumb and looks nice.. LOL I have no need for anything like composite armor.. hehe.. maybe ill buy a Starship some day.. hehe that is if I stop giving armor away... LOL..

Jealous LOL.. Yea Okay.. Sure..lets say your RIS is uber *giggle you get into a fight and WHAM take full damage through your multi million credit suit of armor because the stats shifted!!. Even if it was worth the effort the stat shifting bug made it junk.

Knowledge of making it will do no good there bud.

cohl,

nobody is making you take your crafter there. Only if you wanna make this particular armor. Since it sounds like you kinda enjoy the RolePlay of a total crafter, he wouldn't be caught dead in that dungeon anyway. Therefore, he wouldn't care about that armor. He would stay at home and keep on crafting in his shop, and it isn't like they are taking that away from you.

This is something for the Indiana Jones types of crafters. The ones who have brains, but also are interested in adventure and discovery in the dangerous parts of the world. I fancy myself one of these as an Armorsmith, Gunslinger/Smuggler, and this type of mission is right up my alley, fun-wise. Since it isn't taking away from any of your current fun, and you seem happy to just craft away in your shop, what could be the problem with new content?
