Yes, i'm an armorsmith not a tailor. i dont want to be bothered to paint armor for all sorts of different tastes. They should be able topaint there own armor.

Also did you know if you group with someone whos master of 2 combat profs you can group with them and go out to solo stuff your not supposed to with out wearing any armor.

I know this is an indication of how really sick I am but I'm very very sad about these changes.


I can't say I will cancel my accounts (I'm sick like I said), but I can Assure you that if the current armor system goes live I will go from Master Armorsmith to No Armorsmith in about 30 seconds. I've been a master armorsmith since July 2003. I'm not rich, never tried to get rich, never wanted to get rich. Virtually every sale I've ever made has been from being recommended player-to-player.


For me SWG was about doing something challenging and fun. Well I like bashing the crap outta critters occasionally myself but not all the time. I can think of several games that are much better if all you want to do is fight.


I read somewhere that the new Prosthetics are going to be installed by NPCs? You take an NPC the schematic and it installs it. Will armor be this way soon? You kill a critter, loot it, take the loot to an NPC and get the armor? Sure sounds to me like that's where the system is going.

I personally think you guys can expect to get some of hte changes. Armorsmiths really are the backbone of this game and if most of you left or changed professions we'd be left with armorless guys, really elite guys who got their armro made as a favor, and jedi. Game would die within a month or two. AS is too much of a "backbone of the community" class to get screwed over this badly.

I'll give a nod to all of these.... all big issues.

My personal top 2 are the experimentation changes, and the resource changes.. more specificly the insane hide requirements, but the full shuffle of things as well.

Why did they have to change the layer schematics requirements? Didn't they know there were perfectly good layer schematics already?

Thats definatately one of the terrible rumors I have heard too. And yes we are feverishly getting the cloth/panels aren't we My 10 factories will be done by morning. This is a huge concern of mine and I would also like some solid word on the issue.

They must take out those stupid hide requirements for cores and segments, 85 per advanced core is insane. The hide should only be required for the appearances imo

for me, AS is like model building. I get a kit, I build it, customize it, then I get to paint it. I like that. I'm not one for over customization as far as looks, but more on what I can milk stats out with the resources that is given to me. Money isn't an issue to me, I'm just here to craft and stuff.

just hope wir get our experimentations back for resits.

mmm.... I'd love to know where you found that info. Does Lucas really have any sayso with SWG? If he does perhaps a letter writing campaign?







FYI any changes in the game has to go through Lucas Arts..This was posted by a dev awhile back because some said they were going to start complaining to Lucas Arts.

And I agree with the Issues with the CU post..there are many at the moment

These are also some of the most miserable people I have met in the game to date. They are tired and annoyed because one of the small pleasures they have in life is being smashed beyond all recognition. I include myself in this. Pricing and things of that nature aside, I want to keep my experimentation lines. I want to have it hard for me to make good armor. I like to compete with these other folks, especially now that I have met some of them. I want to be an ARTISAN in the real meaning of the word. I want it to take me a year or 2 to really master AS. I also want my armor to matter, not be attached to combat in a lvl vs lvl system(read combat damage). I want my armor to affect skill mods and vice versa(read certs/damage system). I want to wear armor that is detrimental to me because it looks cool(read certs).

The point of this is to say, I see some probelms here, some large, some small. I see the excellent list Okram has going here and I am suggesting that we, as a group of dedicated and knowledgable Smiths, get behind Okram, stop the ranting and raving like lunatics, and start behaving like people who have a goal. KEEP THE A.S. ALIVE AND WELL BY HELPING ALL THOSE INVOLVED UNDERSTAND THAT WE DON'T WANT WHAT THEY THINK WE WANT. If it never appeared on a wish list, we don't want it. If it has nothing to do with the current rebalance, we don't want it. If it has to do with dumbing us down, WE DON'T WANT IT. I don't speak for all I know, I am only representing the ideas that have been brought up in conversation with me over and over again the last 2 weeks.

Keep the flag flying Okram, we will rally behind it.

I dunno....Im a noob....I try to be rational about change, try to stay open-minded but all I hear about this CU is fire and brimstone....so Im becoming a little worried. I have been a literal SWG junkie because of AS, no more no less, the combat aspect is boring...I gues to much San Andreas and Halo2 has gotten to me. So after much random thought I will get to the meat and potato's. If The CU goes live with current programming I feel this will severly alter this MMORPG....there will be no one playing. Frankly, thats a damn shame, this game has so much potential its unreal, in fact, its so real thats what makes it fun. I do not understand whydevelopers are focusing on these issues. This is going to sound stupid but what they need to work on is more variety as far as loot, architecture, weapons, armor and so forth...everyone has the same stuff.


****IDEA**** Why not create an ability when onemasters any of the advanced artisan classesthey can alter existing schematic to make a completely different item(with in perameters). Make this ability linked to a specific amount of amazing successes when experimenting. For intance, lets say ur experimenting with bone armor, you reach the amazing success number prerequisite, you can now add any one loot based armor component to it regardless of default use, lets say you had a Krayt scle, now you have Krayt bone armor...this is a step in the rite direction more variety, more innovation and more happy AS's. This is probably a ridiculous idea....but I'm trying to be constructive.
