Great list Okram...it's good to see a correspondent taking on an active roll to communicate the issues with devs.

I have many concerns and interest in how AS profession turns out in CU as I've invested a lot of my time and credits in RIS components and loot components. I've always wanted a RIS suit with good resists and ultra low encumb...now I am so close to having all the right loot components...encumb is phasing out of the system

What shocked me the most in TC CU was boots and gloves had no resistance value assigned to them...I pulled 3 versions of RIS from the froggie, and all 3 versions of RIS gloves and boots had no resistance value(s).

Something I wanted to mention here...though this could be a way to get around 4-core-piece-protection system we have in system now...but what a way to waste 2 GDK scales and resources to make 2 pieces of armor that don't even carry resistance value.

Keep up the good work Okram

Hands and feet were removed as valid hit points.

So...no gloves and boots needed...in the combat/damage perspective?
I was quite fond of RIS boots look...too bad it's just a decor piece now

Very nice job, I doubt all will be fixed, but i am at least hoping for the experimentation fix to make armorsmith at least "fun" and challenging in the future. I can deal with the resource issue by passing the cost on to the customer, let them complain as hide costs go up!

Also what about the current loot items conversion? I know we are all sitting on a huge stockpile of shards, hides, segments, scales just waiting to see how they will be converted.

Anyway nice job, I am looking forward to a dev response as what will be changed/left.

Ok, I am getting really tired of this. While I agree with all the issues brought up in the original post, this line of turning it into EQ2 is tiring. The crafting system is not becoming EQ2's system! The crafting system is *nothing* like EQ2's system! They're making armoursmithing too simple, agreed, but they're changing itto be likedroid engineering... which is still from SWG! Complaints like this don't do anything to get things fixed because it makes us look like a mob following some guy in the front shouting 'You're turning the country communist!' over a slight raise in taxes. Shouting that they're turning the game into EQ2 makes as little sense as the systems are still very different!

As for the update in general, just because there's flaws in the system doesn't mean you scrap the whole thing... it means you fix the flaws. The combat update has far more benefits than downsides, it just needs some minor changes to fix the problems. Shouting out that the whole system should be scrapped (which you should *know* they won't do) is more likely to just drown out the constructive feedback, resulting in less getting fixed.

I think the whole thing should be scraped. I've been into TC several times. It's easier for me to list the benefits than the downsides. Benefits.... That's easy, None. IMHO the combat types are getting a raw deal too though many may not see it yet. Knowing they (devs) won't scrapCU doesn't mean it's not a viable suggestion. The sheer number of people saying "I want the old system back" is a very strong statement. I only knew one person that liked CU, today he apologized for telling me"deal with it" and said that hewould most likely cancel if CU goes live. Heck I know several "Combat Only" people that hate it. I've encouraged as many people as possible to go to TC and test. Not one has had anything positive to say after going to TC. I don't claim to know "lots" of people but I do know quite a few and not one that I've talked to likes anything about CU. Believe me I've talked to everyone I know because I believe CU is a huge mistake. Whether I'm right or not, the CU does spell the end for me.

Why dont they just delete the Armorsmith profession...

I'm afraid that's the next step. The CU moves armor to the point where it can be sold from NPC venders quite easily. I believe I read that Sony is working on the Playstation 3. Perhaps they are really planning ahead and we just don't see it. Perhaps when PS3 is released "SWG for PS3" will be too.

All awesome points Okram2k.

I'm sad to think that the only way the devs will see all the errors they made for AS in the CU is when all the combat toons start complaining when they see armor (if they could find any actually, the limited amount we'll be able to make will be bought out quickly) costing millions.

I was very excited about the CU before, now I am contemplating what to do.

Crafting in this game was ground breaking and no other game could even come close to matching its complexity. Its the one reason why I enjoy crafting.

Hi. Long time reader, first time writer.

I found this little tidbit in the forums. Personally I don't think we have been screwed enough at this point. Someone will have to clicky this as I have no clue how. Its in "Star Wars Galaxies Forums : Galaxies : Chilastra : CU Testers!! something you might want to read..." and its all about how the damage/MOB lvl system works. If even half of this is true, Armor and skill mods are now irrelavent. Basically, it says that the amount of damage a MOB does to you is in direct relation to how many lvls above or below you are to it. For example, if I am a 5 and it is a 10, I will take 300 dam, if I am a 10, I will take 125, if I am a 15, I will take 60. The numbers here are not accurate, but there are more than enough ppl over in that thread that have the charts and whatnot to show ya what I mean. The posts go on and on and finally come to the experiment where someone wore armor for it all and still took the same types of damage from no armor through to advanced armor. As i said, this is the basics, and not entirly accurate. GO READ IT before you comment please.

I think I've stirred the pot enough for now. I looked to see if this had already been revealed in here somewhere but found nothing. Seeing as Okram is doing such a splendid job however, I thought this would be the place to get it noticed. Hopefully they are all nuts and I am wrong here. I live in dread with you all though knowing in my heart that when I try it out, it will be so.

Okram, thankyou. I have found the Armadillos and we are feverishly getting synth, panels and rein panels schems from a few tailors so we can get to it. Please, someone prove this wrong so I only have to contend with the boning we have all already received. I don't want more bad news, as I'm sure none of you do.

Nice work Okram. Thanks for fighting the good fight on our behalf.

Crafting since Publish 5. I'm holding on in hopes the Armorsmith profession gets the love it deserves. I prefer the pre-CU system, crafting and combat. I would also like to see decay and hide gathering reinstalled into the game, as well as some epic Recon, craftable of course. And make being 12 point important again.

They still haven't fixed "flaws" from issues raised in the original Beta testing! And you think they will fix the "flaws" in the CU?

just like to add my name and vent my frustration at SWG developers for causing all the issues listed. be interesting to see how much, if at all the developers care - odds on getting a reply...anyone hazard a guess? even less getting something done by them. keep your ear to the ground and you might have an idea why the devs are messing about - Lucas is on the prowl and annoyed at progress

Reading about the CU is making me sick for my smith. All the different types of armor and colors that players will be requesting now is making my head spin. Here is an idea that would solve a ton of problems for smiths.

Craft 3 types of armor. Recon, Assault, Battle.

Once made have it be in a deed form.

When a player purchase it they pick the armor they are certified for or want.

Once they receive the armor they can open the deed and pick the type and color based on their taste.

This will allow smiths to focus on armor and not the cosmetic effects of it. It would allow us to mass produce armor. People like different types. This would allow them a choice of which armor they wish to wear after purchase.

Dont know if they can do this but it would be nice.
