Thread: What will you charge for Wookiee Armor?
Thus... I totaled up my resource types and figured 35cpu for hides (the most I have paid for them because of business agreements I have been able to make), 25 cpu for wood (cause we didn't have much and I had to buy a chunk), and 10cpu for the rest (mostly we harvest ourselves, but sometimes I do buy when I see good stuff) and then added a bit to make the ROI acceptable to my partner. 45K for a standard suit (38-40% Kinetic) and 55K (45-50% Kinetic) for advanced (stats should get better when my resources for this armor get better). I'll probably be modifying my prices when my resources stabilise a bit more (wooly on Kettemoor has been cruddy for a while... so I haven't been able to get as much good stuff from my little clutch of harvesters or my own hunting). I also give discounts to a couple guilds and residents of my own and another city (all within RP) as I do for all armor. Oh... and I am unguilded but a resident in a -great- city with people that make an actual community.
I hand build everything 'cause I like the personal touch. I also try to keep a selection of all armors on my vendor and some days have as much trouble keeping up with the "unsellable" Mabari and Chitin as I do with the Ubese and Composite. Mostly I do Padded on order only since it is so variable. But even that sells fast if I do put it on the vendor. I don't think any armor or any customer is beneath me.
Maybe it's just that I am new at this (3 months in SWG and 1 month master armorsmith) or that I didn't listen to a "mystical voice" or that I don't think pixel money is the end-all-be-all or that I have never been a capitalist at heart or some might even ponder that maybe it is because I am a girl playing a girl or that I jsut care more about people than pixels.... *shrug*
Oh.... and the way I countered the possibility of my armor being resold. Most of the first suits went to those I know in one of 2 cities and 3 guilds. Those that didn't went to Wookiees. 2 suit per customer until I could get all the initial orders filled and then (now) I am going back and filling in the requests for a 2nd or more suit.
I know there are those selling the suits for 100-300K, sitting in Theed or Coronet. That's not my style. I'd rather be in my nice cozy shop in Temenos Island. I had someone buy one of my standard suits and tell me its stats were better than a -sliced- advanced suit he bought in Theed (or was in Coronet) for 100K. Most of those are the get-rich-quick schemers and holo(or is it hollow)smiths. Those armor sellers who are charging the maximum credits aren't looking to provide quality, just to line their own pockets. Yeah... they have more pixel money at the end of the day...........
I havent found any great armor on Scylla yet but the set I bought for myself was 34% kinetic and 25% rest except for cold/heat/elec/stun. The armorsmith had them in their vendor for 4K for each bracer and leggings and 5K for chest plate.
I've just started artisan to work my way towards armorsmith myself to, so hopefully its as enjoyable as most of you make it sound.
If there are any other AS's from Scylla on here who get better stats please let me know what your selling your suits for.

Some people call me a crook be here are the plain facts:
I am armorsmith of a wookiee clan and a private armorsmith.
I have made sets of 48-51 kinetic and 26-28 base for free for every guild member Clan of the Wroshyr (over 30 sets so far)
So please think one second before saying I am not helping wookiees out
I have a krayted chest with 60 kinetic, 33 energy special: how much do you pay for krayt scales 50-75k piece....
for the complainers out there about prices
Things you need to consider.
Even people like me that were charging 230-300k per set the first couple of days, my bank has very little more money in it than it did before the armor came out. Why might you ask? costs. I wanted to be able to make some quality wookie armor for the wookies. Althought I am a master armorsmith that makes some decent composite and ubese that can compete with anyone, there are most established armorsmiths on my server that have to some degree cornered the composite market. They have better resources, and have the millions (or hundreds of millions) to buy more resources.
I run 4 factories. Since the minipatch I had one factory on the armor padding, one on the regular Kashyyykian segs and one on the advanced Kashyyykian segs. That left me with one factory to do all of my layers, ubese segs, composite segs, cloth and panels. That means for this week, I have basically devoted all my armorsmithing effortshave goneinto wookie armor. I have spent more than I have made because i had NO endorian deciduous wood, NO wood of any type, and NO yavinian leathery. Not to mention I went through about 50k hides, and had to replace them.
I made sets of armor for my guildies at cost, and have charged more than most for my armor. My bank account is not higher, BUT I did have the a set of armor done less than 1 hour after server reset, and made about 3-4 sets the fist day as the segments became available, AND made about 20 sets over the next day and a half. I now have enough of the resources to do some factory runs of the armor.
what does this mean, a lot of wookies had been waiting since they started for armor, so I basically had a one year backorder on armor, and guess what...I have for the most part been able to fill that demand on my server. A lot of wookies got armor that wouldnt have if someone did not devote so much to the effort.
in case anyone was wondering mine are about 49% 24% for the advanced sets. I have dropped prices, and will continue to do so after I have recouped some of my costs.
and I plan on devoting all my factories to the next batches of wookie armor that comes out as well.
