Well I gotta go with the buffs are the probelm crowd on this one. Other then The Vette the DWB and the highest mobs in game (Elders Krayt GDK) and PVP I no longer wear any armor.

I have TKM and a nice BE suit I use for 95% of all PVE. I used to wear ubese for this stuff but i got tired of it blowing up after 2 or 3 big fights. Right now with tripple master and buffs I can solo any thing except what I listed above and not even break a sweat with out any armor. If I had the armor and no buffs I would die in a few minutes since I could not use and specials with out killing my self.

Having said all that the revamp is gona change every thing both armor and buffs are facing the big nerf bat me thinks finger pointing by docs and smiths is not gonna really help do anything other then make docs and smiths mad at each other.

With Buffs and Armor and the same template the only thing I can't solo is the DWB and for the most part I can move around and pick my fights there and simply leave if the action gets to hot. Armor is going to change and so are buffs.

Anyone ought to be able to wear any armor - however I do feel that there is alot of armor which needs to be raised in terms of defensive bonuses... IE Padded. Make padded good at absording energy, something like that, rather than blast. Who the HELL wears padded because they fight alot of MOBs who use blase?? LMAO -NOONE. Its fashion, that's all.

So yea, keep the game how it is- EXCEPT make Padded more on the level as Composite, and perhaps bring Factional Armor a little higher too, 30%? What the hell?

See jaenus your missing my point. Im saying that would a pistoleer or unarmed fighter strap on a full suit of Midevil Knight armor made in the 1640's that weighed about 240 pounds and fight effectivley??? NO. Forget my suggested classes for armor, the point still remains that they need to make it make SENSE!!!!

Your thread made good sense. People are taking what is now and taking away from it. Even if armor does get nerfed they will probably compensate in different ways. More armor, more options, and maybe just maybe penalties besides encumbrance. Depending on the profession once again. These are simply ideas. If you don't like them suggest something else or better. Making a fit about them won't help anyone just create an agruement instead of progression.

No you have a great point, and I'd like to touch on something that I think you almost hit when you spoke of Comp being the only armor that sells, and you need to be a Master to do it. That would be the total lack of anything sellable by non-Master Armorsmiths. I think that the armor types below Comp should also be built with similiar stats numbers with thier resists. If you could make a 30%+ kinetic resist Chitin armor set easily at say 2-0-0-4, then that would be better for aspiring Armorsmiths, no? Throw in some kinetic layers, and you'll have some armor that many people would be interested in I would think. Maybe Perhaps, the way to change the armors is to change the way layers work in crafting armor, instead of looking to change the actual armor themselves... just a thought.

I only have composite armor right now which I wear all the time, but if I can EVER FIND SOMEONE ON KETTEMOOR THAT MAKES PADDED ARMOR I'LL BUY A SUIT FROM THEM!!!!*hint hint*. But until I find one I'll just keep one wearing composite armor. But if I do get padded armor, I'll only use my composite armor during hunts and missions ^_^

Well yeah everything is going to change with the combat revamp, and I look forward to seeing what they have planned. But the basics are that more armors will be viable, and I think there will be some schematic alteration as well.

Composite doesnt necessarily ruin the game, andI do still wear Ubese for my PVE grinding (and would wear chitin if anyone besides me makes it on my server, and i dont make armor any more...), its the armor system itself. The fact there are so many damage types for pvp, your odds of picking the right armor besides composite to stop what you are being shot with, is bad. Padded would be great if you knew you were going to a place where only blast would be used, for example. Add in the condition that ramps up with resists, for the most part,so you have the high end armor that has high resists (less condition lost per absorb) and high condition (lasts a long time), and the low end with low resists and low condition (dies fast..) and its pretty easy to see why going high end (even with the added cost, higher encumb, and resists you dont need) is popular.

One idea, and I'd say a fairly obvious one would be:

Attack speed decrease with each armor piece/type of armor. I.E. Full composite could give you an additional 1.0x delay mod for regular attack and specials. For some this wouldnt be horrible with +speed mods you could still cap, but for others it may slow them down... Or if you wanted it even across the board, a 1.0x or .5x real-time speed delay. This would make composite more true to its description of a "heavy" armor.

I can think of a few others like changes to the resist table for some armors and perhaps a limit to the types of layers that can be used in each armor, but also a bonus to some, but... This assumes the damage/resist table/systemwill stay the same and somehow i doubt it...

Bottom line is, wait and see what the combat revamp brings.

I still have 2 sets of your armor from eon's ago!.

armor should lower defenses if worn.. It is difficult to explain how wearing a suit of armor would slow down pulling a trigger, but it is easy to explain how wearing armor would mean you would get hit more (lower ranged/melee defenses) and wouldnt be able to dodge, and any "toughness" you got thru your template would be ignored, since all your "toughness" would be spent on just wearing the armor!

Luckily we're not making 240 pound medevil armor, and are instead making high tech composite.

hmm kay...

in a way that posting had some truth in it.

for a good while up to the run of the CU, and when I was climbing the AS tree was "comp comp comp make comp!" Comp isn't and wasn't the end all armor. Granted it had many protections and you can get them high up. but in the end the other armors, when crafted were just as good.

I had clients that all they bought was ubese and Tantel ( Tantel for the looks. Ubese for the Kin). ANYONE who has down an ounce of gaming knows "the right protection, for the right job".

let's look at the the senerio. he brought up buffs.ok, your party wants to do a krayt hunt. you don't have your armor on. your running around finding a Doc and dancer. your money goes out twice for paying the doc for his buffs and tipping the dancer ( gotta love those moves :x ). So you just spent 55k - 80k on a suit of comp and add in the price of the buffs to put it on. One's money went fairly fast.

I know mine did.

I used to go krayt hunting with my AS ( marksmen( rifle, then later carbines), at one point I went with polearms) in chitin or Ubese. Unless I was Real up close and personal with that dragon, I was doin alright.

I also want to bring up the fact that wookies for the longest time didn't have armor. I have alot of wookie customers. the base of my business. still is. to bad they only have 3 armors to choose from. :/

I guess it all boils down to is how one games.

but meh.
