We are forcing you to take a stand in the War to supply factional armor to that side. No one is forcing you to join the GCW if you don't want to, you just won't have the benefits of being able to make and sell factional armor.
Factional points are obtainable in space, ground combat or via a nice friendlylocal Smuggler. I am sure theSmuggler's will appreciate the influx of newcustomers.
The reason ths customer needs to spend faction points when they Bio-Link the armor is because the schematic packs are fairly inexpensive to the Smith. We still want the faction cost of the armor to be about the same as it currently is. So it was split up partially between the supplier and the end User. As to what the market price of Armor Cores becomes, that remains to be seen.
Again if you do not want to participate in the GCW, you don't have to.

Will I, as a MDE/MA/MM no longer be able to go on DWB runs? You need a DE to get in the room, and a MA to craft. With non-combatents no longer able to wear armor how will MDE/MA's survive in the bunker?
Heh if you were on my server I'd offer my services as a master Doc, cause at the moment that might be the best you can hope for. ![]()

Well, if he joins a factions, but stays on leave cause he doesn´t want to participate in the GCW, won´t he still get attacked when getting scanned then? So he doesn´t really have a choice, like in many other threads about the GCW already posted, if you join a side, you join the war at the risk of getting attacked. Or is this due to change?
And when he goes through rebel cities?
Seriously, I appreciate your stance on factional perks but in that case shouldn't neutrals get perks for being unfactioned and thus could play bothsides as criminals opr whatever RP takes their fancy? I'm factioned myself but I feel this drive to "encourage" people
into the GCW is going a bit far, yeah there is a War going on but smuggling and criminality play a large role in the SW universe too. They don't have to get the same perks, I'm just saying their should be scope for everyone to have something.

I may be a Rebel, but I like your attitude UmmonPrime
Are you kidding me? You want to keep faction points cost the same? Even if you split it 50/50 that still 30k FP to each user. You know how many ppl you see running around in faction armor now right? The big reason you DON'T see people running around is that it costs an ungodly amount of FP and when you only gey 10-15 FP per kill well I think you get the point. Lower it down to at least 5-10k FP or heck just do away with it at all for this BIO thing. HOW DID LUKE AND HAN PUT THE STORMTROOPER ARMOR ON IF IT WAS ALREADY BIO'D TO THE OTHER GUYS????? HMM MAKES YOU WONDER

That sounds quite reasonable to me.
So far this armorsmith and factional armor relationship sounds pretty good.
Through money or their own doing the AS can obtain the "small" amount of FP for the multi-use schematics... then the buyer has to pay the large amount of FP for the armor.
That really sounds good to me.
Thank you for explaining it Blixtev!

Exactly how is an armorsmith supposed to buy schematics with FPs if they are not a fighter? Does that mean an armorsmith HAS to be a fighter in order to get faction points?
Anyone can get FP from a smuggler. 100-150 cr/fp is typical.
If you remember Lukes Armor didnt fit very well. "I can't see a blasted thing in this helmet". Its because it was bio'ed or "fitted" to the guy he took it off of.

Wanted to 2nd the point about spending faction. Think about current live. How many multiple suits of armor do you have to buy to get one sliced right. How many multiple suits of armor do you destroy fighting high end content. In the new system I would be willing to bet the farm that decay is not going away. So, how often am I going to have to grind 30k faction to get a new suit of armor cause the old one wore out. Am I going to be grinding faction endlessly to keep armor on my back. While I don't necessarily think requiring some faction to get my armor is a bad idea, keeping it at the current rate is ridiculous.

Choosing a side shouldn't have to mean you have to participate heavily in combat. Plenty of people choose sides in war, but not everyone is a fighter.

\LOL well there's no reason why smugglers can't be worked into it in asimilar fashion to the suggested CU system, what about that Hutt faction rating for example. I'm thinking alternative perks here, surely it's not beyond the ken of SOE to think up a suitable bone or two to throw the neutral players. We've got privateers in space, seems strange that we don't extend that to the ground.

Devs please rethink what you are doing to the crafting profession , I never thought the CU would effect the crafting profession in such a negative way. I thought opening up factional armor would be great for Armorsmiths, but making it where i can not even wear the armor I make really stinks.
