We are forcing you to take a stand in the War to supply factional armor to that side. No one is forcing you to join the GCW if you don't want to, you just won't have the benefits of being able to make and sell factional armor.

Factional points are obtainable in space, ground combat or via a nice friendly local Smuggler. I am sure the Smuggler's will appreciate the influx of new customers.

The reason ths customer needs to spend faction points when they Bio-Link the armor is because the schematic packs are fairly inexpensive to the Smith. We still want the faction cost of the armor to be about the same as it currently is. So it was split up partially between the supplier and the end User. As to what the market price of Armor Cores becomes, that remains to be seen.
Again if you do not want to participate in the GCW, you don't have to.

This is exactly how it should have always been. Thank you for implementing this.

Amen, Cyriis...amen...

After spending 9-12 months collecting RIS rares, resources and loot, and establishing myself as a premier RIS crafter (154 pieces to date), to find out with the CU (going live in 4-5 weeks) we can no longer wear our own crafted armor is just plain old BS...LOL, Ihave 6 full suits on Chilastra if anyone is interested...going cheap... what a friggin' waste of time and $...And with little to no warning on all of this, I am stuck with all this stuff, effectively negating the past year's worth of work ? WHY would you do that ??? Oh yeah, another option, sell it all off...

Here's an idea, Devs...EPIC armor = no certs required ... !!!

Here's a 2nd (even better) idea...grant BONUSES to the combat profs w/ each armor/weapon cert...but allow all players to wear/equip ALL armor and weapons...Armor/weapon 'certification' has got to be the most ridiculous game mechanic I have yet seenintroduced toSWG...Even with the current system, I can at least equip the item even if I can't use it.

So when will the devs answer this dilemna ? Willplayers be reimbursed for the millions of creditsthey have wasted chasing the elusive "epic armors' such as RIS...doubful...Will RIS be worthanything with the recently increased loot rare spawns...doubtful... Will crafters get a respec to pickup new required combat skills ? doubtful... oiy, my head hurts...

Thanks, guys...GREAT job with the CU...

Anyone can get FP from a smuggler. 100-150 cr/fp is typical.

At 100-150 cr/fp, do you have any idea how much it will cost using the current faction point costs? I will be passing on the cost to the consumer of course. When a suit of Faction Armor costs a million credits, it will be just like it is now, a wall decoration. Us Armorsmiths will get called thieves also because of what we are charging.

Ok, I think you're nuts here, it costs over a Million credits to a set of armor from a smuggler now, the very best composite with Far better resists and life-span is less than a third of that costs.

Well personalyl I dont care about the whole biolink thing. What I'm -not- happy about is this BS of now having to drop one of my crafting masteries that I spent so much time grinding out just so I can grind up a master combat proff. And then spend all my time grinding FP instead of crafting just so I can at least -offer- rebel armor. That or have to buy the FP from some one. That and personally I think the rebel armor presented is a huge eyesore. And so is the imperialassault armor.

I'd be perfectly happy though. If the system was. Person in faction X buys schematc B and brings it to MAS C to have it made. Meaning then that any AS could make it. And customers who have their favourite AS wont be forced to go looking elsewhere. (Like it looks like some of my imperial customers will have to do after CU).

With any luck this will change before it hits live. If not well... I doubt it'll hurt my buisiness that much. There's a horde of Imperial aligned AS on Bria. And very few of us who are Rebel. And I suppose I could allways do a deal of. Ok you tip me X FP so I can buy the schematics. I make you one suit for free. Then leaving me with 9 other suits I can sell to make back the loss with at a reasonable price.

But I still dont like it. And if I wind up having to go combat prof with my AS just so I can do anything. I wont be happy either. I HATE Grinding. I HATE the totally pointless neveer ending fighting SWG Presents. Oh sure there's the themparks. Been there. Done that. Three damn times. Gets rather dull after a while. And there's very few other areas in SWG that have a storyline like mission that isnt a huge bore. Like the space missions. Yes. Go blow up such and such cause he's got data we want. ok...

Great! Now go blow up 2000 fighters so you can get the Xp for the next skill.....

...

No thanks.

Great, lemme guess, non-humans are going to have to pay double to get faction armor as well. I really hope they don't make faction armor cost that many FP. I'll destroy a set of armor just grinding the FP for a new set.

And here I thought they finally had gotten the idea that making faction armor costs tons of faction points was the reason it was so seldom worn.

How on earth can you think keeping faction armor so expensive will lead to it getting worn more often? Please, drop faction costs of faction armor to a fraction of its original cost.

Devs: Please don't take the freedom away to use different armor and weapons, also this bio-linking stuff really have to go, if I have a set of factional armor I should have paid for it one way or the other and if I later want to give it/sell it to someone it should be my choice to do so.

If there is no way around the light/medium/heavy armor system please make the armorsmiths able to craft all styles with the different stats, also make it possible to craft armor without stats, for pure look. Like those gloves with spikes that look really nice, but which I cant be able to use as a teras kasi after these changes.

Don't turn the professions into classes, teras kasi like monks, carbineers like warriors and commandos like knights, lets not forget smugglers as rouge and docs as clerics. I feel so lost thinking of these things making it into SWG, also the display of levels on mobs is not good. Looks like its turning into a level/class based game rather then a skill based game.

The things I dislike with the CU is the design goals, not if it takes one or more people to kill X, so I havent spent much time in the test center, ah also these particel effects should be optional, they belong in fantasy mmorpgs, I rather have a small window with different good looking icons telling me what effects me and my targets have on them.

I feel so lost now....

Maybe they should ditch the bio-link term and call it "fitted armor".....

I fight weekly in medieval armor as part of the SCA. Starting out, all noobs use "loaner gear" which is nothing more than someones old armor that they gave to the cause.

Using loaner gear sucks. It doesn't fit right. The weight is not balanced for you, hence you tend to end up sore in unusual places. The helms are never padded for you, so they slip or lean, pulling you off balance or ruining your vision. The protection offered is less than optimal, leaving openings that always attract attention causing you wonderful bruises to brag about the next day (and the next week for that matter). And its always uncomfortable above all else.

Once you find that you are going to stick around, you start putting together your own set of armor. You get a helm with visibility suited to you and pad it accordingly so that it sits well on your head. The main body of the suit not only fits well, it protects where it needs to and places the weight in all the right places. Your shield is sized for you and your leggings no longer cause you lower back pain because the belt they are attached to keeps slipping down too low.

So, instead of "Bio-linking" armor, lets go to a term that makes more sense. Once any armor is fitted to an individual, it becomes unusable to others. Oh, let them equip it, but make all the bonuses it would normally give penalties instead. Maybe that would mollify the people that can't grasp the idea that some game mechanics are required for balance...

I would like to see the devs price the faction armor cheaper than the other suits, seeing as how the look of the armor is only a "skin" I don't want the Composite Clone issue repeated with a different type of armor in the upgrade.

Seeing Stormtrooper Clones is ok, it will give more of a Star Warsy feel. I could see maybe a couple hundred Faction Points to get the armor fitted for the person to wear, if you keep it at the current faction point cost, it will be a decoration for someones house.

Also, if the faction point cost is high for us AS's, we won't make it. I'm not about to blow millions for a schematic, and I sure as heck don't have time to run delivery missions on the ground or grind FP in space. I'm sure all us AS's will be busy for some time getting resources for all the different armor types we will be stocking.

Oh I agree 100% with you. I wasn't saying it would be cheap rather I meant it is easy to get even for a non-combatant.

If left as is (not cosindering which side is winning in the GCW at the time of purchase) factional armor will go for 1-3 mill plus armorsmithing costs. I imagine that if your particular side was losing the GCW costs could be even higher than 3 mil.

Schematics are bought in 10 use schematic packsfrom the recruiter by the Armorsmith using faction points , you must be in the faction and a master armorsmithand have enough points to buy them. You can then put a core into the appearance and sell the faction armor. The Buyer must Bio-Link the armor to their bodies by spending faction points from a menu that pops up the first time they try and equip the piece. Bio-Linked armor can be traded by only equipped by the person it is linked too.

Why don't you take your attuned armor back to EQ2? It's going to get damaged through use.
