I think master artisan repairs armor better than an armorsmith.

Say I want a piece of armor fixed its like 19k/36k close to 50% cond. Would it be better for an armorsmith to fix the armor or just fix it my self? I understand that the armorcan break while trying to fix it. Another question what would the condition be after fixing it somewhere around 30k?

It's random how it will turn out, but the max will be that of your repair tool if it's a perfect repair. repair is broken, and no AS's do not get a bonus to repairing armor. My TK has better success rates then my AS does. I make jokes about a rancor having a better repair rate as my AS can destroy a suit faster.

no, if anything armorsmith would get better, hence the "armor"

Hi there... Here is a question that's ravaging in my mind since a week now... it is the right moment and place to ask...

Is it true that armorsmith have better chance of repairing armors? I'm asking because I found lot of people that think it's true, and lot of people that thinks it's false... hoped this is the better place to ask...

I just lost my most trusted ubese pants, and I really don't like to destroy my composite too...

Sorry for bothering, and thanks in advance

(Sorry for almost cross/posting this in the weaponsmith forum too)

Armorsmiths have no better chance of repairing armor than any other person. Only thing I've found to matter is the quality of the repair kit. So go get the best kit you can find, and cross your fingers.

notta..has no factor. u would think an armorsmith would have a bonus, the only thing that makes a differnec is the quality of repair tool

armorsmiths were supposed to get armor repair skill bonuses almost a year ago, but either they were not given or they are broken.

/agree, I have yet to see even the FS repair bonuses produce a noticeable effect over the quality of the tool used...

Gawd, i can't agree more with these guys. Get the best possible quality armor repair kit and don't try to repair it until it's extremely low on the condition. I had never used an armor repair kit until about a 2 months ago when i started this char and boy, was I pissed when I destroyed my new'er' hunting armor. Being a new char, I had saved for quite a while to buy my first full set of hunting armor and i had tested a repair kit on a bracer and it worked wonders. Well, I look at my chest plate and it's got about 80% condition left so I figure, "might as well fix this while i'm at it". BAM! "failed to repair" message pops up and just like that 150k down the toilet...

I had used it for maybe 4 hours play time... Now I never even attempt to repair a piece of "good" armor till it's almost dead and I can afford to lose it.

It's all in the repair tools...though, it's funny how I sometimes still get a marginal repair using 100.0 rating kits

Now that Im a master, I'm getting requests to repair armor. From joe blow down the street, kinda irritates me, but I don't mind helping out the guild since they did so much for me on my way up. Naturally, I do a little light reading on the AS forum, (is their such a thing as light reading on this forum??? ) Nothing new has been written about armor repair in about 8-9 months, so while I believe I know what's what, I just thought I'd make sure I didn't miss anything.

1 - Armor Repair Skill Tapes do nothing??

2 - Armor Smith's get no bonus to repair armor??

3 - Repair tool actually matters?? Higher stats = Higher chance of success??

As always, I'll gladly take any advice, ny tips/tricks or superstitions you want to pass along.

Thanks all.
