I find it disturbing that people feel the need to flame someone for posting an opinion, rather than just posting, "no sir, I feel the lack of spawns adds to the rarity of the game and thus I'd like it left that way".

I just want to remind you that it was you who lashed out at me for being a "griefer" because I brought up the idea of actually making saleable armor with the resources that sit in my "Surplus Resources" bag in one of my factories.

Prior to that, the only comments I had made in this thread were to agree with one of my fellow Shadowfire smiths that armorsmithing is difficult, and to comment that there is a market for all kinds of armor.

Why lash out at me for posting my opinion on use of excess resources in eliminating potential competition instead of just posting "no sir, I feel that using your surplus resources to push others out of the market is wrong, and would not participate in said practice myself."

There are a couple of flames prior to your post, I somehow thought you were agreeing with them that I was some n00b AS wanting the best handed to me on a silver platter. I have since re-read your posts and what can I say. I was wrong, I should not have said that without taking the proper time to read what you had posted. I feel really stupid now, and I hope I look that way too. I am very sorry, and I apologise to you in all sincerity. Something told me at the start you wouldn't be the kind of person to flame me, but I took it the wrong way anyway.

*sigh* /egg face;

Forget about it. The subtle bits of communication that we all depend on in daily conversation get lost in an internet forum. It's happened to us all.

Why not try Standard Composite in the meantime? I'm just saying if you don't care if the resists are 20%, then why not just practice with Standard Composite. I may play around with it some too. It may not be great, but it may be better than you think.

Look I don't deny the frustration you obviouslyfeel. I just think that your comment of "5 weeks" is what may have sparked it. Honestly some of us have waited quite a bit longer than that for some of the resources. There was a huge stretch on Starsider where there was no Beyrllius copper. We had a spawn of 970/700 Neutronium steel like 6 months ago or more, and have never had one even really close since then. Its frustrating waiting for resources. But it also adds a dynamic to the game thats not really in any other. I also feel the same way about Crit Fails. I hate them, but I think they are necessary. It adds a bit of 'danger' to the crafters game.

Planning on it now that some speak of the devil, Beryllius copper, has spawned. Got my hands on the good neutronium this week, and yes I don't deny people have waited a long time for resources, but that is a little excessive, and while everyone has had to endure those massive periods of no spawn, does that make it wrong to ask for a change to the system? 2 weeks (not guaranteeing any kind of quality spawn) would be more like it... perhaps even 3... but 5 is just stretching it a bit.I explained my reasons and everyone has pretty much sided against my view.. thats ok, I'll sit back and do it they way everyone else has. Don't get me wrong, if I hated the game I wouldn't bother posting, but it's because I love the game that I post, and postwith such passion.

5 weeks with no axidite... just takes me back to my early doc days when class 4 and dolovite weren't spawning... I just don't find it much fun that's all, but it's quite amazing how some people with positive attitudes can really make you interested in those lesser armours once again.

Maybe I'm just a geek, but I've been an AS for 3 weeks, and love hunting all over for resources. Not only do I harvest everyhting I can, but I hit every resource shop and the bazaar whenever possible. I kill Jantas for 3 hours, make close to a Million credits, and switch to my AS to BUY BUY BUY. I'm always broke, but my resource supply is getting pretty nice. Finally got some 80 KIn/63 Base Compo gloves yesterday (With lots of help readng these forums on how to experiment them well, and that's using some awful Wooly Hide). I bought the Polysteel, Beyrillous, Polymer, and Kiirium. Harvested the Colat, Naboo Plast, Amorph Gem, and some Steel for the layers. The point is, I'm making advanced compo off of resources bought from like 4 different planets, and 10 different shops. Everything I bought was extinct, I harvested everything I could. It's out there, I sincerely doubt the infamous Easter spawn is in the pockets of every AS out there, so chill Nerf. There are lots of people who make their living selling resources, but some of them just put their shops in the most awful places (Like player city ghost towns).

BTW, there has been a lot of flaming in this thread, instead of constructive suggestions. I just want to say that I'm in the same boat as you, with regards to how long I've been at it, but I'm doing OK because I look EVERYWHERE for resources. I found a shop on Tat (A planet I NEVER visit) that is selling awesome Polysteel, for example. Anyway, have fun, kill Jantas for Janta Hide for compo, kill voritors for Vori Scales for Ubese, build up a stock of loot while waiting for resources, or just go shopping.

Just a suggestion from the antithesis of an "Ubersmith"

heh thanks for the pep talk. I basically live on tat, I hunt janta (mostly for the blood actually but the cash is great), but it seems that most resource dealers on starsider are either holo merchants, grind sellers, or 150cpu. I can't seem to find the supplier of the smith. I love harvesting resources, I have 4 accts with lots full up and you can be sure I'll get the next lot that comes by, but I welcome your positive and different spin on the situation, and I'll keep my eyes peeled for that mysterious resource vendor that probably does actually exist and isn't advertised.

Hunting resources is frequently NOT mining them yourself. Its actually going out and running the round of -all- vendors and the bazaar and being persistant in doing so, not just 1 hour or 1 day, but every day (to catch the really oddball stuff on the bazaar, like the old spawn, before SWGcraft's database, Crism I found) until you find what you want. Axidite showed up in your galaxy 5 weeks ago. I find it utterly ridiculous and impossible there were NO sales of it from resource vendors and resource speculators since that time. I don't care if they were charging 150cpu for it (which I find highly implausible and considera gross exageration on your part), if you didn't buy it (even if you didn't have the money) it was YOU you passed up getting the resource, not that it was made magically and conspiratorily unavailable to you. No one is going to gift wrap it and drop it on your doorstep.

I will admit to being a resource speculator as well as an armorsmith. We, my partner and I, sometimes hold a spawn and then put it on our own vendor for a higher cpu than we could have gotten -while- that resource, or one like it, was available to mine. That reminds me... I think it's about time to sell some Crism and the crappier Vertex. Maybe some of the crappier axidite, too. Yes, I would sell my crappier, I won't use that, stuff first before the over stock stores of my better, I'm using it, stuff.

For those of you who cannot read my sig, I am already a Jedi.

I never said you weren't, but expecting to have AS handed to you because you holo-ground the professions earlier is BS and childish. Expecting to have every spawn available to you the day you master, or even within 5 weeks of mastering without you donig a little footwork and possible interaction with other players, is ludicrous.

Sorry, since I didn't state that I have 20 lots dedicated to mining, and currently have BER13 harvesters in ALL of those lots mining resources forboth armoursmith and doctor,I can see where you got this incorrect assumption. Sadly, the 150cpu was not an exaggeration, but was for wooly hide, OQ 950 SR 950, but it isn't a resource I'm in need of, regardless of the high quality.

Once again, I never asked for it to be delivered to my door, and you're insults are not warrented nor desired on the forum. Have a little courtesy for those with differing opinions to your own, I never insulted you, and I do expect the same in return from you. As always, if you don't have anything good to say, just keep ya trap shut. And yes, I should take my own advice.

Finding the resources is half the work. If armorsmith was easy, everybody would be doing at and it wouldn't be worth much. It took me months to get to the point where I could even consider tryingto compete with our High name armorsmiths here on Bloodfin. Keep it the way it is.
