Thread: Plea to the devs: Lack of resources ruining fun.

Let me tell you a few things....

1. I have been here since launch.

2. I have been an Armorsmith since launch.

3. Resources were NOT shifting for over 6 weeks on my server (Radiant). The devs had to do a manual shift TWICE after many outcries from my community.

4. When I became a Master Armorsmith, NO ONE knew what resources were required for Composite (except a very, very small minority who were in beta)

5. Even after the "manual shift", Beryllius Copper (which seems to be the particular resourceyou are in desperate need of and the focal point of your argument), did not show up for an additional month.

6. When it did finally spawn, the stats were 478 OQ 530 SR. Hardly one would call "good". Which amounted to 43% base effectiveness, un-layered.

You think you have it tough now? Pffft. You are raising issues that have been around since the very beginings of the game. While your concerns are vaild, they are hardly the dire situation you have so eloquentlypainted in your posts. 5 weeks? Please. Even if you had said 2 months, I would have the same reaction. As a matter of fact, your posts and points have been brought up before by many other people. They got through it, so will you. That is, if you have the tenacity to stick with one of the hardest crafting professions in the game. If not, hey, you won't be the first and certainly not the last to jump ship. Let me also say, every single profession has its share of rare resources. Have you gone to the doctor's forum to complain about Dolovite Iron or Class "whatever" liquid petrochemical? I highly doubt it. If anything, take this experience here and learncomplaints such as this should be lodged with the devs, not the community.

What you have to understand is, many people come through our forums seeking advice and help. I can guarantee you every question is answered fully and truthfully without regard to their current status ingame. Our secrects for making good armor, low encumbrance armor, how to break into the business, how to deal with the various bugs, are all answered with helpful advice. How would you react to a virtual unknown "noob armorsmith" storming in and raising hell about something that EVERYONE here has dealt with already, is currently dealing with, or is preparing to deal with, raising a huge stink, and then taking shots at our community all because you can't make Adv. Composite for yourself and your friends?. You know what? Tough. Stick it out or go home. Let us dedicated Armorsmiths talk about our beloved profession.

You stated you are a Jedi. I can only imagine the amount of crying/whining/trolling you do when it comes to the subject of the Jedi Revamp. In conclusion, we won't miss you if you go. We won't miss youif you do get a good spawn. So just go.

Planning on it now that some speak of the devil, Beryllius copper, has spawned. Got my hands on the good neutronium this week, and yes I don't deny people have waited a long time for resources, but that is a little excessive, and while everyone has had to endure those massive periods of no spawn, does that make it wrong to ask for a change to the system? 2 weeks (not guaranteeing any kind of quality spawn) would be more like it... perhaps even 3... but 5 is just stretching it a bit.I explained my reasons and everyone has pretty much sided against my view.. thats ok, I'll sit back and do it they way everyone else has. Don't get me wrong, if I hated the game I wouldn't bother posting, but it's because I love the game that I post, and postwith such passion.

5 weeks with no axidite... just takes me back to my early doc days when class 4 and dolovite weren't spawning... I just don't find it much fun that's all, but it's quite amazing how some people with positive attitudes can really make you interested in those lesser armours once again.

I do not disagree with you at all. Waiting for resources isn't fun. I am of the opinion that it is a "necessary evil" though. I realize it is easier said from this side once you have finally gotten some stock of decent resources and are not looking and hoping for that first spawn of something you need. I understand.

Part of the problem is this horrible "top heavy" issue in Armorsmith, and basically all crafting professions. It's mostly Master or nothing. I did not grind at all, and it took me from June 26th to Thanksgiving to master Armorsmith. I definitely wasn't rich, and I still am not. I did do a fairly good job of hunting needed resources as I went so that when I did finally get to Master, I had what I needed to make Advanced Composite. Some of its luck though.

I say carry on. Be frustrated, but if you are serious, it will pay off in the end.

Since noone gave any answer to the KIIRIUM STEEL topic mentioned by me earlier right before this huge flaming war started, I will mention it again. Maybe someone from Chimaera is kind enough to answer on this lil', but very important topic

Yeah well you little piss ant I didn't get to grind through AS in a day or 2 either.

What makes you think I did it in 2 days? I said I had been a master for 5 weeks now. Ever think that all I have been making is bone, chitin and ubese when I got up to it?Probably not I'm betting.I don't make armour to sell for millions, I make it for my guild. I make loads ofPSGs, even whenthe stats justkeptshifting. I hand made a few thousand AUK's for our smugglers. Sure I ground AS on my main char, that was for the jedi slot. Some of us like to play our characters, and to do that we need resources. Sure I can go back to making bone and chitin, but why should I be restricted to that when I put in the work to master the profession?

*shrug* such hostile elitists we have here on the forums. I want everyone to enjoy the game, seems most here dont'.

"After reading the replies I got to what I thought was a general concern amongst all users of resources, I no longer care whoI upset. I am not making armour to sell, only to supply my guild. I don't think there is anything I can do to win popularity here, it seems the majority of established armoursmiths would rather see people suffer months of no resources like they did than see any kind of improvement to the game. I saw the same thing in the bounty hunter community, and also the jedi community. I think these are the same people that like to sit and wait 10 minutes for a shuttle. I'm almost sorry I even bother reading these forums any more."

Well apparently you're the only one that has a problem with it.

Fact of the matter is, high end armor is already too abundant. You start making the resources spawn more often, and it will get even easier to mass produce armor. Spawning the rare resources more often increases the chance of a good quality spawn. All you can do in the meantime is keep an eye out on what is spawning and do something else with your character.

I'd just like to see 2 changes, that would help increase the odds...

1) get rid of all this "unknown" resource types, does anything actualy call of this?

2) fix the spawning of resoures, instead of spawing the same resource across 5-6 planets, have it only appear on 1-2 planets, and have different resources spawn elsewhere. Give us more variety.

The unknown resource types seem to follow the same gates as other resources of that type, ie: unkown ferrous metal seems to have the same mall gates as other steel's and irons.

I think they should keep unknown resources in, but unlock their gates. They're pretty rare as things stand now, but wouldn't it be cool if there was a slight chance of an unknown ferrous metal getting 900+oq 900+mall and 900+ shock?

What gets me is that the same resource spawns on almost ever planet, except on Rori of course were I live, lol

Why not break them up and have more resouces spawn but on different planets, so lets say beyrllius spawns on one planet and Crism on another, but the stuff like Colat that spawns once every 3 months if were lucky is a big pain, or just Lazy coding. 3 months in game play is very very long time.

I agree each named resouce should spawn on one of the planets at least once a month if. Also some of them should be found always on one or two planets, all the time.

But what gets me is you can mine steel, lol, Steel is Made from Iron, by forcing out the Carbon by heat. I wish the Dev's would hire a Geologist, lol.

I think all these mamed resouces should be made by a new Geologist and Chemist professions, that would be so cool.

Hopnasty,

Although I can understand where you are coming from, if someone is complaining that they are not having fun playing this game, then there is a problem. It can be very frusterating being a new armorsmith. You work and work and work until you hit that final box, and then find out that you need 3 more months of resource hunting to make decent armor. I completely understand where this poster is coming from.
