Well, I've been a master armoursmith for 5 weeks now. I have yet to make any advanced ubese, or any kind of composite armour whatsoever. Why not? lack of desire? no. lack of skill? no. lack of tools? no. too lazy to go look for resources? no. physical lack of resources? yes.

This is a game, games are about fun. I don't mind shortages of resources, most of us would consider say, OQ 400 axidite iron to be a lack of resources... but no... 5 weeks without axidite iron spawning at all, 5 weeks (and who knows how long it has been missing) without beryllius copper (which finally spawned a day ago) and many other resources (dolovite ironif you're a doc) have only just started spawning in months.

All I ask is that they look at the code for this and perhaps change it so there is a higher chance of low quality resource spawning, rather than not spawning it at all, because its just plain no fun to not be even able to make low quality items. If they can't do this, at least tell us why we have to go months without critical resources spawning.

Sorry dude, I'm not trying to flame, but you really need to look harder. There was a spawn of Axidite on Talus like 2 or 3 weeks ago... It was crappy, but it was Axidite. I'm mining Neutronium Steel right now on Tatooine. Its actually decent stuff. Now I need to go off to Dathomir to get that new 902 OQ Colat Iron.

On Eclipse (where this guy is located, along with me), I was getting pretty peeved myself. You spend so much time mastering a profession, to not be able to do anything. If you're a weaponsmith and there's a part missing for T-21 Rifles, you can still make Scout Pistols, DX2s, vibro-knucklers, etc. etc.
With armorsmith, you can make some Ubese and sell to some of the better players, but you really gotta work for it, and that's what these guys said they did.
Vertex Crystaline Gemstone hasn't spawned in a long long time. You can't find it on vendors. I saw an auction for it a few days ago and it was 20cpu and it was horrible quality. Beyrllius hasn't spawned for a while.
It's not a matter of making uber-armor right after mastering, it's a matter of making armor at all. It would help if other armors sold (except Composite and Ubese).

Actually, I find that since so many armorsmiths on my server are onlymaking layered composite, that the mid-range market is being somewhat ignored. So, I made a run of a hundred or so unlayered composite suits and threw them on my vendor for 175k a suit (they're packaged in backpacks - all stats listed). They sell quite well.

I do agree that it's frustrating to spend all the time reaching master to not have the required resources...but as someone said, surveying and mining these resources as you're levelling up is highly recommended.

It takes quite a long time until all your ressources are > 900, indeed.
But I wonder how many other AS on Chimaera are looking and waiting for a spawn of Kiirium Steel right now, since it hadn't been around for many weeks, and even the last offer on the bazaar and on every known vendor has been sold out at high prices. Without Kiirium, Composites will reduce drastically. And I don't want to go for Ubese.

Weeks in between spawns is fine by me. Months? Maybe that's pushing it, but hey, it's a game folks. Seriously, just simmer down now

Had a long post here, but you know what? I've said my peace, and every dedicated armorsmith I know, even the ones who are still getting their materials together, agrees with me.

I simply resent people who throw around the term "griefer" whenever any bit of competitive spirit is thrown into a game like this. I'm about the furthest things from a griefer there is. I enjoy making armor, and don't really care about the cash. There are plenty of folks on Shadowfire who would back me up on this.

When one of my peers one-ups me, or has a resource I don't, I don't get upset, I smile and /hi5 them for it. Once you've padded out the bank account (which doesn't even require master - I made millions as an 8-point 'smith selling Ubese) the fun comes from friendly competition between the 'smiths you talk to every day.

What a baby! I don't usually flame, but my ghods! you are a whiney child. You want everything to be handed to you on a silver platter.

Child huh.. wow, this boosts your credibility right off the bat...

I took a slow path to my mastery and collected stuff as I went. I also missed a few things because I wasn't diligent and didn't notice adv comp uses polysteel copper (kick myself in the butt right now 'cause we had some of the best ever on the server and it got used... probably for vehicles) and so begin hoarding it. But... do I say there should be a constant spawn of good or great polysteel copper? heck no. I like that the good stuff is rare. Speaking of rare, Crism ore... before the last (crappy quality) spawn on Kettemoor, the previous spawn was before I even started playing, several -months- between spawns and then it comes up crap. Am I complaining, heck no. I think it's good stun layers are kept rarer by the metal involved. Kettemoor had a wooly drought, nothing good for way too long and now there is a spawn that's only decent and armorsmiths are buying it like crazy, am I complaining about it? nope, I think that it adds an element of adventure, of risk (how much do I buy to cover the next drought, will the next stuff be better and I get left holding a lot of unusable crap in comparison?).

Did I ask for a good or great spawn? no. I'll take OQ 10 I don't care. I just want some. You know, whether you like it rare or not is just your opinion. The stuff is not rare loot. Adventure? If I want adventure I'll go hunting krayts. There is a difference between having the resources, and having good resources.

I go out looking for resources, not just what I can mine or kill, but vendors and the bazaar, hoping to score an old spawn dumping (got a nice huge chunk of crism from an older spawn, one not even in the SWGcraft database, -after- the crappy crism had run its course and was hitting the market at high prices). When I mastered, Kiirium steel hadn't been around a while, so I learned the names of all the kiiriums in the SWGcraft database (for Kettemoor, of course) and then started looking just for them... and I found some because I was diligent. ANYone can do this, master or not. As a master you should be willing to do a bit of looking for your resources or be content to have mediocre stuff.

How many times do I have to mention I am a major contributor to swgcraft? I hunt resources, but you cannot hunt what does not exist.

You claimed no resources had been around in over 5 weeks and then admit some had been around thus and so time... but it wasn't in the best of percentage right on your doorstep, or what? How about you just get gifted with 100K of the best of every spawn that has ever occured on the server and they appear in your inventory, would that be adequate for you? Oh... but then you would complain that you have to figure out how to experiment them for their best results.

No, I corrected someone. Yes Axidite iron last spawned on Talus, no, it was not just 2 weeks ago. It was 5 weeks ago. Take you're insults to another forum. I'm tired of flamers like yourself providing low quality feedback riddled with insulting remarks. I thought that everyone didn't like the fact that there is so much time between resource spawns, but not only was I wrong, I have childish people like you insulting me for even suggesting it.

How about next time you post, you say something like "No, I think that the rare spawns make the game more interesting" and just leave your negativity at the door.

No, no sympathy. Go back to holo-grinding and let those who really want to craft do the crafting.

I don't give a rats how good my armour is compared to yours. I don't do it for the cash either. I just want to make it. But according to you and the other "elite crew" here, that is asking too much.

I was thinking about this as well. I noticed I have large stocks of the second best of every resource required for advanced comp, except for wooly and intrusive, which are in shift with good stats. I may just make some unlayered advanced comp out of them and sell them off at around 100K a set.

Could be fun to squeeze the middle of the market while still cranking out high-end stuff with the best resources the server has ever seen. Frankly, I think Shadowfire has a huge glut of mid-level MAS's, and it may be time to get dirty and try to thin out the ranks a bit before they catch up .

It's good to know that your sense of fun involves making others suffer. I bet you're a terminal griefing mission stealer too.

How will I make them suffer? By bringing in another option to a segment of the market often forgotten by established "arch-smiths"? By forcing their prices downby added competition?

Thisis the exact same thing that every new smith does when they finally aquire the resources to make the best armor on the server. So when they come into my market segment and drive my prices down more, can I come here and cry on your shoulder aboutothers making me suffer?

Get over yourself.

I suppose I better reply to this too. Your ego is so big you can't even see it. That yellow line reeks of a rather large ego. Oh, I'm a master, I can't let anyone else be one god no that would be bad. Can't let other people have fun now can we...

It has nothing to do with ego. If you read the Shadowfire trade forums for a while, you'd see that there are a ton of new masters without extra experimentation and without the best resources. Nothing wrong with that, and I wish them well. That being said, some of themoften cross the line and accuse the server's top masters of "raping" everyone on prices, and they end up driving the perception that we're gouging. Considering that I sell my 67%-68% base comp at the same price I was selling my 59% base a while ago when I was still operating on second-teir resources, and the response I got then was that the pricing on 59% base was excellent, I take offense to the idea that I'm gouging anyone. That offense manifested itself in my "weed out" comment.

See this is exactly the problem. I'm not asking for the best resources to spawn.I'm nottrying to compete with anyone, except perhaps with my guild armoursmith, who is 100 steps ahead of me in the game, and that'd only be for something to do seeing we're friends. I'm only in it to make armour for myself and a few people I know. I want some resources to spawn, and *I* think it's wrong that it doesn't spawn more often. This is a game and I'd like to have some fun while playing it. I know most people in game feel the same way, so I posted about it and got accused of being a whiney cry baby not getting what I wanted. If I had asked for 900+ OQ stuff to spawn every week I'd expect to get flamed.

I find it disturbing that people feel the need to flame someone for posting an opinion, rather than just posting, "no sir, I feel the lack of spawns adds to the rarity of the game and thus I'd like it left that way".

And not to mention the factthat it is very easy to antagonise me and I'm sure there are a few trolls here to do just that.

I just want to remind you that it was you who lashed out at me for being a "griefer" because I brought up the idea of actually making saleable armor with the resources that sit in my "Surplus Resources" bag in one of my factories.

Prior to that, the only comments I had made in this thread were to agree with one of my fellow Shadowfire smiths that armorsmithing is difficult, and to comment that there is a market for all kinds of armor.

Why lash out at me for posting my opinion on use of excess resources in eliminating potential competition instead of just posting "no sir, I feel that using your surplus resources to push others out of the market is wrong, and would not participate in said practice myself."
