Shouldn't Rangers get Recon armor? I mean, they are scouts and that's what recon does.

Ranger and Scout will probably face "kinetic" dmg in PvE so they need an armor with a bonus effectiveness in Kinetic, hence the Assault armor

But they aren't combat classes, and no novice gets armor. The ranger will get battle armor, which will provide decent enough protection against animals.

Seriously, they DON'T NEED more than that as a straight up ranger, and if they aren't a straight up ranger, then whatever combat class they pick will give them the armor they need anyway.

Keep in mind these aren't certifications! Anyone who wants to can equip the armor, the professions just get mitigations on the debuffs applied by the armor so you don't lose as much movement speed, accuracy, and attack speed, thus making that armor the better choice for the stated professions.

No, that is precisely what they are - I believe the devs have already said that you will not be able to equip armor unless you have the appropriate certification.

ZionHalcyon is correct, if you DO NOT have the first series of Mitigating numbers in the Novice box, you can not equip that style ofarmor. If you untrain the novice box that grants you the basic mitigators it will strip that armor off you.

You might want to consider putting a line in that states what certification you're getting in addition to the mitigation entries. That's what we're used to seeing, and will allay a lot of confusion.

Armor - Do "armor mitigation" abilities stack? If so, I take extreme issue with how the current setup of these mitigations narrows the potential selections of complimentary proffessions. Currently on TC5, the only"Recon" armor professions are rifles and pistoleer. So for every pure Rifle only or Pistoleer only combat professional their armor choices drop from the full selection to a few choices in the Recon category. For wookiees and Ithorians this is even worse as they will only have one option of armor to wear. I thought this was supposed to be about increasing the choices and options and creating greater variety??? Why does each profession only get one armor certed or gain mitigation toward? Even the elite professions that draw on differing base skills are only allowed one type of armor? Doctors (?), Cmbat Medics, Creature Handlers, Squad Leaders, Bounty Hunters, and Commandos all are "Battle" or "Assault" armor certed. This concept really sucks!!! There are some very simplistic remedies to this, but I highly doubt we'll see any changes here until months down the road when different professions start Raging over their gimpiness with regards to armor.

Personally, I think every Elite combat profession should be certed for Two types of armor, with mitigations being demonstrably better for one than the other. Using rifle(wo)men as the example; a Rifleman could be certified to wear Recon and Battle armor but not Assault. Their mitigations at Mastery would be 40% toward Recon and 20% toward Battle. Something like this would allow for alot more variety in the armor department as well cross-profession options. Further, Bounty Hunter, Commando, and Squad Leaders should get all three armor certs and minor bonii to all three types spread throughout the appropriate rows of their respective professions.

Overall something more like this is what I mean;

Pistoleer: Recon 40% Battle 20%

Carbineer: Battle 40% Assault 20%

Riflemen: Recon 40% Battle 20%

TKA: none 100% Recon 20%

Fencer: Recon 30% Battle 30%

Swordsman: Battle 30% Assault 30%

Pikeman: Assault 40% Battle 20%

Creature Handler: Recon 50% Battle 10%

Combat Medic: Battle 40% Recon 20%

Doctor: Recon 40% Battle 20%

Smuggler: none 100% Recon 50%

Ranger: Recon 40% Assault 20% (they still need to Master Scout! give them a little break)

Bounty Hunter: Recon 20% Battle 30% Assault 40%

Commando: Recon 20% Battle 40% Assault 30%

Squad Leader: Recon 40% Battle 30% Assault 20%

Give us something to work with, please.

Now the only remaining question is...

If I have 2 combat professions that grant certs for 2 different types of armor....lets say I'm a COmmando/TKA... if I wear the armor granted to me as a Commando, do I still have full access to all TKA abilities, modifiers, and specials?

Lets assume you are a Master TKA-Commando:

Master Commando gives you max certification for Advanced Assault armor.

Master TKA gives you their defensive built in mitigators.

If you put on your Assault Armor it automatically cancels out the TKAbuilt in mitigators.

If you take off your Assault armor your TKA mitigators again go active.

If you are wearing armor you can still use TKA specials however the armor is where your protection is coming from not the TKA mitigators. Similarly you can have your armor off and pull out the Rocket launcher and the TKA mitigators are active.

The point being you can have one or the other, they justdont stack. It is just like youare not allowedto put on 2 chest pieces.

Pretty sure the "Avoidance" tank mods of a TKA will be null if you wear armor. TKAs don't have to wear armor since they get natural modifers which are better than it in many ways. Allowing a TKA to wear armor from another class and retain its armorlike mods will be unbalancing.

And you can wear any armor you are certed for regardless of the weapon you are holding. This goes along with the using of specials from other classes. IE BH wearing Recon, using its Scatter pistol

Note also that it appears that a lot of the defense bonuses from classes only work when certain weapons are equipped. If you are a TKA/Commando, your "unarmed defense bonus" won't apply when you're using a heavy weapon, and vice-versa. In exchange, most elite classes getdefense bonuses based of their weapons. This looks to be how they're handling the defense mode stacking issue on live, and I gotta say, it's pretty smooth.

Heh, Never mind, apparently I'm wrong

So, given that, does the "Heavy Weapon Defense Bonus" that Commandos get stack with the Unarmed bonus?

Also, I will master both Smuggler and Pistoleer. Will the armor re-buffs be stacked from both professions? (So if I got 20% from Pistoleer and 20% from Smuggler, I would get 40% total)

Blixtev,

Say under the CU if you have 2 professions that give you certs in the same armour, do those armour mods stack?

If you have pistoleer and rifleman, for example, would the recon armour mods from both classes stack?

Blixtev,

Say you were a tree. What kind of tree would you be?

Anyway, what about other specials? Lets say I am a master carbineer/Master rifleman - if I have a rifle in hand and am wearing battle armor, does that mean I can't use rifle specials? Or does the non-stacking thing only apply to defensive stats?

Thank you for effectively destroying my roleplay Stormtrooper unit this way...

So now I'm forced to go either melee or carbineer just to put on ST armor....

Can you tell me why on earth you are making it so people can't wear stuff just for looks? This will kill a lot of already scarce roleplay in SWG.

Stormtroopers are the best of the best the Empire has to offer , and are skilled in many weapons.Example: clicky

That shows Stormtroopers carrying T21 rifles. So a Rifleman should also be able to wear ST armor. Please make it so the armor is nothing but plastic if you are not certed for it, because we want to wear what we want and equip whatever weapon we want. This is how it is now, and there is no reason whatsoever to change this system!
