Thread: What if...

If you want to throw continuity into the discussion, this idea wouldn't really follow it. Most of the known bounty hunters purchased/aqquired their equipment from merchants/specialists. However, they were known for the customization of said equipment, which still was usually performed by a specialist.

i was thinking the other day, what if bhs could get jump packs like boba fett! i even thought out a completeskill listfor em. hear me out:

Investigation 1

Jump Pack Certification

JumpBoost 1- Invulnerable to melee damage for 5 seconds. User sufferes moderate accuracy penalties and HAM costs.

Investigation 2

JumpDodge 1- Invulnerable to melee damage , and 25% harder to hit with a ranged weapon for 5 seconds. User suffers severe accuracy penalties and moderate HAM costs however.

Investigation 3

JumpBoost 2- Invulnerable to melee damage for 10 seconds. User suffers mild accuracy panalties, but HAM cost is the same (or posibly more...?) as Jump Boost 1.

Investigation 4

Jump Dodge 2- Invulnerable to melee damage , and 50% harder to hit with a ranged weapon for10 seconds. User suffersmoderate accuracy penalties and moderate (to mild...?) HAM costs.

Master BH

Jump Blast- Player invulnerable to melee damage and 25% harder to hit with a ranged weapon for 5 seconds, but fires a powerfull (x3 multiplier) shot from their currently equipped weapon. *May* cause KD, no dizzy.

Notes: All jump abilities would have a 30 second cool down. The cooldown would be cross-ability, so if you used Jump Boost 1, you couldnt just avoid the cooldown by immediatly using Jump Boost 2. Also, the player can fire a weapon while in the air (with the accuracy mods in effect) except when using Jump Blast. The player would fire the Jump Blast, could not fire during the remaining time in the air, and would have to wait a 1.5x delay before firing again after they landed. If you have any thoughts on this, please keep in mind that I am hardly EVER on these boards (too much to do...) and that i will pobably not be on till at least this time tomorrow. So talk amongst yourselves about it. Give me some other pros, cons, ect. about this. Thanks:

Welcome to the bh forum... just wanted to make you feel good before the flames started.

BTW , thats the best idea for a jump pack I think i've seen so far.

Defenses is something we need badly.

Definitely alot better thought out than some of the "it would be so cool!" type posts.

Don't know if they could implement it or not though.

i remember reading a post by TH back when we had the SWG discussion board that said that the way avatars and creatures work is that they are "glued" to the surface. So like birds and what not have invisible "legs" that attach them even though they look like they are flying. This had something else to do with swimming.

My thought is that when they start to work out the logic of underwater swimming (i recall this was to be looked at along with or shortly after space expansion) that it would make sense that jet packs could be explored as well.

if i was wearing a jet pack on my balcony, would I be able to fly off? or would I have to exit my house first?

Sounds like a platform maybe to be thought out more .. for the positives and negatives... Hey Tanks what do you think ??? anyway we can maybe start talking about these ideas and presenting it to the devs!

As it stands now they would probrably have to rewrite the whole engine to make that happen. I can see it happening when the space expansion comes out though. :-/

the day it goes live with all the bugs you'll exit the coronet star port and see a bunch of bounty hunters stuck 20m above the ground all yelling for help...

i just thought of some problems for my idea. the jump boost 1 and the jump dodge 1 would be pointless. the HAM costs would probably be more damage than you would take from an enemy in 5 seconds. so either the HAM costs for it would have to be low or... hmm. heck, im tired of thinking about this. lets just hope that the devs give it a little consideration when designing the space exspansion. i also think (in reference to wickedhangover's reply) i dont think youd be able to "jump" off of yer balcony. or over the sides of stairways or actually in any non-combat situation. it would be like trying to shoot a wall with an overcharge while outside of combat. ya just cant. also since its just a combat action, you wouldnt really be hovering at all, there would just be an animation that made it look like you were. so they wouldnt actually have to make you "fly" in the air or change the game engine. lol, and people couldnt get stuck up in the air (as cool as that would be)

What if the mandalorian armor quest was easy for us. Like what if all the monsters had acid and lightning vulnrability. Quick everyone start flooding this idea!

it wont make a differance, people will find away around it, especially those that have dabbled in the bh profession, hell u dont even need to be a bh to have an acid weapon. they just need to makemando armor for bh's and thast all. either that or give us a new special armor that when people look at us they die instantly, that would be the only way to fix what they messed up with our profession.

If it's BH only it should be hard as hell to get, if it's all player it should be hard as hell to get.

It's already bad enough we have hundreds of Jedi Gaurdians, we don't need ten's of thousands of Boba Fett clones too. Hell the 100,000 Robo Cop clones piss me off.
