People are so quick to jump in with phrases like 'feel of the game' or 'continutity' but yet they don't comment on the number of Jedi running around, 'Pokemon Wars', non-humans in Imperial service etc. etc.
Me i base it simply on the film, Chewbacca was goin to Endor to shut down down a shield generator, and what does he wear to protect himself, thats right nothing, going to an imperial conreolled out post wit hstormies and blaster fire and he decides not towear his wookie armour... and dont get me started about other "look and feel" of star wars issues.. jedi and armour, amount of Jedis and whipping out a ATST out of ur back pocket, Rebels being paid..but they are other arguements no place for them here
A bad bases for your arguement. Shadows of the Empire has two Wookiees wearing armor. Apparently Mandalorian armor. Read the book.
No one in the Alliance on that strike team wore armor. Han, Luke, Leia, and all the grunts wore a camo poncho and a padded helmet. No armor.
This has got to stop. By making a rash generalization and saying that we're getting thsi because of 'moaning' and 'whigning', you are just putting down all the time and effort so many of us have taken to come up with reasoned and comprehensive ideas and then get them through to KStafire who has done a lot of hardwork in pushing this through for us.
Yup you do make a good point generalisation was probably wrong but can u blame me? i come here to post to suggest stuff i got to the GCW zone .i get 4 threads in large text with "wooKEES NEEdZ armour DEVZ" i go into the game guides zone and same thing i get it in my server forum. You see what im building up there are as you say people going around it in the right ways and they probably unfairly get tarred with a smilarbrush its a shame and it happens.
So should Wookiees not have posted threads about this major issue? An issue that resulted in them taking 8X the damage as others?
Do you even know what the armour will look like? No. No one here does. They definitley arent' going to give us something that looks like Composite or Ubese because that would look awful on us.
Well than what can they give you, hide armour like the Wookie clothes? Hide Armour thats just as good as composite? Hide armour that deflects Blaster Fire and stop Swords and Pikes..... again another joke if they do. If they make it less quality becsue of using hides, then there will be cries to get everything even....if u wanted an even game no one would kill each other beacause their attacks and defenses would be identical
Why would it be hide armor? Wookiees are a technoloically advanced race. The bowcaster isn't made out of bone and sinew. You stop with the pathetic arguement that Wookiees are primitives. It doesn't wash.
They are trying to balance us out first because trying to satisfy some garbage like feel of the game. It's easy for people like you to talk about the feel of the game when everything is fine and dandy with your species. When a species like ours has been broken since inception, the feel of the game should definitely take a back seat to balancing us out.As I said, you don't even know what the armour will look like. For all we know, it might go the bandolier route which some suggester OR it might look very similar to the already existing Wookie clothing. I haven't heard many complaining about that.
The Feel of the game should never take a backseat to anything, i want to play a Star Wars themed game i want to me immersed in it as much as possible, i dont care if the profession im working at is the best or the worst (pistoleer..it sure isnt an ubercombat class)i do it cuz thats the role i want to play. The people who are bothered about balance are the ones who just want to play the game to have a chance to own everyone to be able to say im the best and becasue they found thisisnt attainableat the time beinga wookie, so they want it made so they are. If you want balance why the hell do we have different races???? Lets make everyone generically the same since if some people have advantages other people will want them?? should we do that at a price of it becominga generic game with star wars tags on ......No one in there right mind would want that
Then be immersed. We already know that Wookiees can and do wear armor. Wookiees want to be immersed too. We want to be able to take part in the GCW, the supposed defining aspect of the game. But taking 8X the damage seems to shorten our ability to do so. It also hampers our ability to enjoin other aspects of the game. Have you gone to the Geonosian caves? Have you tried going thru there without any armor?
From an immersion standpoint, lets talk about Armor Smiths. They can make armor for a 3 foot bothan and a 7 foot dosh. They can make helments for the Mon Cal. Yet for some reason they just can't scale up armor for a Wookiee? Does that make any sense from a RPG perspecitive?
Now that you refer to the movies, you have only seen ONE character. You're basing everything that we have or should not have on just that one character. That's awfully narrowminded of you. It's good that you atleast recognise that we have issues, which puts you well ahead of some of the people here who think or HAM balances things out when that itself is gimped due to the secondaries cap.
Yeah when it comes to wookies i base it on Chewbacca narrow minded? maybe Star Wars feel? Definatley. Id prefer to be narrow minded and play a game based on the expectations and feel from the film that to be so open minded that the film gets lost between the uber and nerf cries from people that want there Character to rule the Sever and dont give a stuff wether its a star wars game.
Then should no one be able to wear armor? Based on the movies only as you are doing who do we see in armor? Jango Fett. That's it. Boba is a Jango clone, so are the Clone Troopers and Storm Troopers.
Furthermore since Storm Troopers are all clones that means ST armor also needs to be removed from the game. Since players are not Jango clones.
Lets go further. Did you see any Vibro Knucklers in the movies? No, lets remove those. Power Hammers? No, remove those too. So lets remove most of the weapons used in the game since we didn't see them in the movies.
We could also drop half the professions out there since we didn't see those in the movies either.
WOOT OMG THIS IS AWESOME NEWS....NOW wookiees are going to be as much a challenge in PVP as everyone else...no more of this hahah im taking 25% less damage on top of all my resists and you're getting the one hit mister wookiee...YAY...now we can accually stand in a fight for more than a second...lets hear it from all the excited wookiees out there...ROOOOOOOOAR!!!!!

I have to say reading the posts by many who are not wookiees there appears to be a real fear that we are on the verge of becoming some kind of Uber Race.
As well, many of the of posts coming from non-wooks are done so in a non-constructive way, only fueling what can be seen as an anti-wookiee attitude on these boards.
I would suggest that all those opposed should come to the realization now that as a race wookiees are unbalanced. There have been many arguments outlining the reasons for this statement. Please go back and actually read some of the posts regarding what our extra HAM adds up to versus armored characters. Nevermind the devs nerfing our racial bonuses for Creature taming and warcry.
The Devs said they are working on an armor fix for us not because they are tired of hearing us "whine", but rather it has been acknowledged by them for some time that this needs to be done.
No one in his or her right mind can argue that a fully buffed comp wearing non-wook is not more powerful than a Wookiee buffed. That individual is able to wear his armor and stack specials on top of specials without his HAMs taking a beating. This is due to him having the huge reduction in damage. The same wookiee character will go down quicker because he is taking full damage. That 700 extra ham is maybe worth one or two shots extra. Not enough to make up for not wearing armor.
The main issue here is that balancing needs to take place and take place soon. As far as I can figure, it is going to need to take place with either wookiees getting armor or wookiees not getting armor, but doctor buffs and armor resists having to be cut in half.
From looking at these forums as a whole everyone hates nerfs. There would be a huge outcry if buffs and armor were to be nerfed, but bringing into balance the races of this game as a result. Also whenever there is a new nerf or rumors of a nerf coming, the overwhelming response is "why do they have to nerf? Can’t they just FIX the other …." This is why we need and are/will get armor at some point. As well, I’m sure from a devs point of view it is easier to just give wookiees some sort of armor, which I’m sure won’t be comparable to a full set of comp, than to nerf the entire server population.

It is great to hear we will have some addition to the one or two practical pieces of clothing of each type to wear.

ahhh, here we have my favorite argument of all, which basically goes " I never wear armor (except for when I decide I need to), so please "learn to play" without it at all because I usually dont wear it and so that obviuosly means that no one else does either (unless they decide they need to, of course).......
And please devs, remove the HAM bonus of the wookies.
and now, class you will notice how the ostensibly well-meaning trando never mentions his OWN ham bonus in his nerf call, efficiently destroying his own credibility...

Hehe, really funny, but my argument of no armor still is perfectly valid. And about the nerf that you say i'm asking, yes, why not? remove the HAM of trandosh, no problem. You are nerfing all the other gamers in the game with other races.This wookie armor gives to the wookie player a great and insane advantage against everybody.

I think the big issue the devs are having now is :
as they are levelling the Wookies with something better, once they done this all speices will come and /cry towards what have been done to the Wookies and will want the same lovin'.
So If they really make the Wookies as good as the humans they'll have to find a fix for trando non protected areas, and level all speices substats either. That is why they didn't fix the Wookies before.
Either if the Wookies armors Su#*. all the wookies will should loudly...
Actually this revamp is needed but I can tell you I wouldn't have the hat of a game designer or a dev atm.
So when you write ideas try to think about others speices and about balancing. Nobody wants uber Wookies, nobody wants wimps Wookies... There are very good ideas in this forum and in the wookies topics either.

I see no problem with giving the Trandoshans their gloves and boots, and removing their HAM bonuses too. I know a lot of people whine that this will make the game less interesting, but how "interesting" will it be to get hit in one of the 5 spots that insta-kills us, Wookiees?
We need FULL coverage at COMPETITIVE resistances, and since everyone seems to be bad with math, we'll probably end up with 70% max resists - which is fine as long as you're not going to attempt any of the content they're adding, like the Geonosian cave and such.
I think wemust wait to revamp of combat system before asking for changes in races. Dont you think? Maybe before that revamp everything looks different.
