Thread: General opinion of armorsmiths regarding the crafting of Wookie armor
I think all Armorsmiths should be able to craft it, but Wookies should get a bonus
Da'ren Ko-Ma
I didnt bother to read the whole thread, just scanned a few posts....
1) I always thought it was a bad idea that the bowcaster was a wookiee only craftable item.. Hey I'm a Mon Cal... My people are capable of building starships.. It would only stand to reason that i could get ahold of a Bowcaster and take it apart and figure out how to replicate it pretty easily. It is science after all, unless some wookiee just took a crossbow one day and slammed it into a pile of radioactive material that infused it with the ability to shoot blaster bolts instead of arrows, I think i'd be able to figure out what makes it work.
2) With #1 being said, I use metal and hides and chemicals to expertly craft armor.. It's unreasonable to think that i couldnt pick up the same twigs and leaves and cornstalks that a wookiee can and make the same armor out of it.
3) I'm tired of crafting the same composite over and over again, or ubese for that matter... I want something new... RIS was a joke (I mean really, rare loot components in armor that would decay in less then a week if the person actually tries to hunt with it on a regular basis (ok im a melee type i tear up armor).
4) I cant seem to think of even 1 wookiee armorsmith on bria, i could be wrong but off hand i cant think of one. so then it becomes an availability and price issue first one to grind to master armorsmith as a wookiee gets to rape the wookiee population on price...
This is a hard one, while wookie only made armor would make it rare and mostly not as good as due to limited number of crafters, I have to say the wookie only made bowcaster is very cool in that it can only be made by wookies. I have to go to this great wookie weaponsmith to buy them. He is about the only one that does make them, probably because they are just not that great.
My feeling is the RP value of wookies making wookie armor far far out weighs everyone making wookie armor. It would be a boost to the wookie community that you can only understand if you are a wookie.
I'm looking forward to making wookiee armor. Time to spice things up again. Ris looks nice, but not worth the kimo scales nor does it protect. I'd like to be able to make sets for free to give to my wookiee guildmates. Also, I know of only 1 Wookiee armorsmith on Kettemoor who's in it for the long haul (not a hologrinder).
Looking at all the previous posts, it seems that there is an overwhelming consensus towards making it non-race specific. Lets see what the devs do. If they choose to make it race-specific, it will provide a lot of insight as to how they think and who they want to please. Hopefully our voice will count.
I'd like to see all AS be able to make it. For the reasons many have already articulated above.
I don't know about giving Wookie AS extra options with crafting the armor though. If that's the case then customers will probably just seek out the Wookie ASs, just because of the tendency to always want to buy what's "best" available.
I think that just having an exclusive capability to wear the armor is enough for the Wookie population, and don't see any reason why their ASs would be keeping any crafting secrets from the rest of the profession.

Break the 80% Cap? Can you expand on your position on what makes Wookiee's that much more special than every other race? Keep in mind, Wookiee's represent approx 10% of any given server's population.
Why on earth would we want the devs to come around and nerf Wookies 3 months from now? They will have 80%+ protection AND higher HAM. Makes absolutely no sense to me. Do you really want to hear the Wookiee outcry from an upcoming nerf because of Wookiee's being overpowered? Next thing you'll suggest is AR1, 80%+, AND the higher HAM, huh?
Right idea, but not well thought out. I'm sorry if this is coming across as a flame. Shooting ideas out there is great, but please think before you post an insane idea such as this.
