well i agree with sagaX i think he is one of 3 on our server that are wookie armor smiths...thats not enough people to make this armor for the entire wookie population as well as keep up with all there other orders .....

it just seems like too much added work for a wookie who is only one of a hand full on any givin server

I think all Armorsmiths should be able to create it.

Its not that Im worried about not being able to produce enough armor, its the quality. The Bowcaster is a perfect example of how the system doesnt work. Its nearly impossible to even find a Bowcaster, let alone a quality one. And when you do find a good Bowcaster, the costs are though the roof...for something that has stats identical to a DLT20a. Lets see...DLT20a is craftable by any weaponsmith, you can get a good one for about 5-10k. DLT20a is only craftable by Wookiee's, rare as rain on Tatoonie, and 50-100k for a good one. Im sorry, but the system just doesnt work.

I assume, since the devs have told us that this is only the first armor, and to be patient for better armor, that it will have stats similar to Chitin/Tantel...Padded if we are lucky. What does a set of really good Chitin cost? 20-50k? What would it cost if only one race could produce it, only one race could wear it, *AND* its the only armor that race could wear? I dont even want to guess.

That's what I have to say on the subject.

But for the sake of argument, and if I HAD to choose I'd say make them wookie only, just because I am one of the few roleplayers left and don't believe wookiees should even have armor in Star Wars. If they are so weak they need armor, that is the designers fault for not thinking this character type through fully before the game went live.

Hi,
As an interested non-armorsmith wookie, please let the armorsmiths make the armor. My own made bowcasters suck.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

Here's my take (for what it's worth)...

Wookiee armor is an awsome idea that will greatly even the playing field between Wookiees and all the other races. Yes, they do recieve a HAM bonus, however, that does absolutely nothing when a majority of weapons are AP1 or greater. As far as I know (please correct me if I'm wrong), Wookiee's are AR0 just like the rest of us without having armor equipped. Armor for them will allow them to match-up in both PvP and the GCW (if there is such a thing).

Argument has been presented by various other Armorsmiths in favor of making it Wookiee craftable only. I feel this will be a very bad decision by the devs if this goes through. Here are my reasons...

1. Rareness of Wookie Armorsmiths. In my best estimate, there are an average of 5 Wookiee armorsmiths per server. This is by far the minority. There is no way 5 Wookie armorsmiths will be able to keep up with the demand; not only when it is initially available, nor 6 months after that.

2. Supply vs. Demand. Basic economics will come into play. Since there is going to be a HUGE demand for this new armor, and only a handful of armorsmiths that will be "race qualified" to produce it, supply will be very low and pricing will need to be increased to a level in order to offset the outrageous demand. On the other hand, if it's craftable, regardless of race, the demand will be met by the increased output of all Armorsmiths, therefore, keeping prices reasonable for all Wookiees.

3. Competition. As a consumer, everyone wants to pay the lowest price for all the supplies needed to play the game however you chose to play it. Running missions to earn those hard earned credits is difficult and tedious as it is. The market (consumer) will always dictate the general price of everything that is sold in any given marketplace. Therefore, by allowing all armorsmiths the opportunity to craft this armor, it will increase competition between armorsmiths, thus, resulting in lower prices for all consumers (Wookiees). If the average number of Wookiee armorsmiths is indeed around 5 per server, competition is lowered and price gouging can and will occur due to the rarity of race qualified armorsmiths. I'm not saying ALL Wookiee armorsmiths are greedy, credit hungry, price-gouging people, I'm simply stating my opinion of what I foresee occuring if the devs make the decision to make it race craftable.

4. Availablity. No on likes waiting for their armor to be made. Days, weeks, or even months can go by before you actually get your hands on your custom order. Can you imagine the waiting period? I shudder at the thought of making an Wookiee wait. Have you seen an angry Wookiee? I would much rather see a level, open marketplace, as opposed to, one that is completely dominated by a handful of race qualified armorsmiths.

As I have stated may times in various threads, making this Wookiee armor available to Wookiee armorsmiths only is a very, very bad idea. All Wookiees should be in favor of this armor being available to all armorsmiths. This will only work to their benefit. However, if you want to continue riding the "continuity angle", then by all means, go for it. It will only hurt you in the long run.

As a wookiee I was orginally all for the Wookiee Only Armor...

But as a Young Armorsmith... Very against it being wookiee only!!!

Now granted as a Wookiee Armorsmith and Wookiee Only I could make Armor for my Race and be come very rich almost over night... Be flooded with orders and backorders..

Witch when I was a Bio Engineer before it became a Flavor of the Month... I had that happen... Heck I am still getting orders from people who saw some of my rancors Pre BE Patch and to this day I am still getting Tells asking me if I have some of those still... (Sadly I dont)

But this should be craftable by all Armorsmiths...

Now I dont see really well established masters Jumping head first into this and negleting their Composite and Ubese Sales just to make armor for 10% of the Population of this game... But As a wookiee I think I have some advantages over the Non Wookiee smiths...

1) I understand what I can do with the min and Maxes of my race better than most...

2) I am a newer Smith... and a Wookiee I see this as a Market area for me... I Dont ever think My composite could compeate with established masters So Its not a priority armor... Mostly I am making armor for Guildmates and a few sales here and there of the composite.. But nothing on the level of some of the Established Masters...

3) I have a personal goal to make this armor wearable right out of the factory crate... its easy for me to make composite because I know almost all People in composite Buff to wear it and then never take it off again... But My goal is to used my own stats and make sure the armor can be worn by any wookiee with some migration if need be...

Iam all for this being an All Armorsmith Thing.... Be they wookiee or Human... This is something we should all be able to make... and a choice that we all should make if we are going to produce this armor or Not...

Character Name: Chalvooka WOOKIEE FROM DAY ONE!! still a wookiee even after a small break from SWG!!! A Wookiee from before wookiee armors and ROTW or RTOS!!!!

On this topic I would have to say make it all armosmiths. I have several reasons for this.

1. As far as keeping the wookie race original, they will be the only ones that can wear this armor....seems to me, that is unique enough. Their supposed 'technology' is in electronics and engineering. Armorsmithing is far more similar to tailoring than weaponsmithing. We arn't talking powered electronic armor, we are talking about cloth, metal, and hides.

2. as a Twi'lek, i am not the only one who can make a Grand Headpiece....sure, only I can wear it, but anyone can make it. This goes for Tantel Helmets as well for the Humans and Zabrak. How is it fair to give the wookie armorsmiths new content, without giving race specific craftables to all the other races? Maybe, if/when they add new armor for all races, as well as faction only armor, it would be a good time to change it, but until then, i dont' see it as being fair.

3. It won't help out the majority of the wookie community in the short term. It will aid the few wookie armorsmiths while limiting the fun for all other armorsmiths, andcosting more for the wookies to buy (supply and demand nececitates this no matter how little the wookie AS say they will sell it for) as well as making it harder to find adn purchase for most wookies.

Due to supply and demand I think it should be craftable by any AS

My feeling is the RP value of wookies making wookie armor far far out weighs everyone making wookie armor. It would be a boost to the wookie community that you can only understand if you are a wookie.

I am a Wookiee, been so since day 1...and I dont think it would boost the community at all. It will just create sub-standard armor that has outrageous costs. I hardly see how that would build the community at all.

I understand that Cultural Armor/Weapons worked relatively well in EverQuest, which is basically what people seem to be arguing. The problem is that in EQ, there were other options for armor. Here, there would be *ONE* armor and nearly every single Wookiee is going to want it. RP value or not, it should be easily availabe, and affordable because of the mechanics of combat in this game.

What I, personally, would have done is create one armor that has 2 possible segments. One segment would be automatically given to Wookiees, the other would have to be quested (for the non-Wooks). The suits would be almost identical, but the one given to Wooks would carry over stat bonuses from Synthetic Cloth (used in the creation of the Segment). So, the Wook Armorsmiths could make armor that would be a little better, but it wouldnt punish the Wookiee community with inflated prices overall.

Open it up to everyone - Wookies and Non-Wookie Armorsmiths. If you want to give bonuses to Wookie Armorsmiths, fine. Makes sense to me. But don't give this armor to the 5-10 Wookie Armorsmiths per server only, prices would be simply outrageous.

Wookiee bowcaster made only by wookiees.

Wookiee armor should only be made by wookiees....

ORwookiee armorsmiths should recieve a bonus while crafting it. Maybe with the right materials (all 900+ on OQ)a wookiee smith could break the %80 cap on special protections, or something like that.

Break the 80% Cap? Can you expand on your position on what makes Wookiee's that much more special than every other race? Keep in mind, Wookiee's represent approx 10% of any given server's population.

Why on earth would we want the devs to come around and nerf Wookies 3 months from now? They will have 80%+ protection AND higher HAM. Makes absolutely no sense to me. Do you really want to hear the Wookiee outcry from an upcoming nerf because of Wookiee's being overpowered? Next thing you'll suggest is AR1, 80%+, AND the higher HAM, huh?

Right idea, but not well thought out. I'm sorry if this is coming across as a flame. Shooting ideas out there is great, but please think before you post an insane idea such as this.
