My worry is that they'll nerf armor to such a degree that the armorsmith proffession will turn into the tailor proffession I abandoned.

But I'm not getting worked up about it. I'll wait and see.

You wanna know what nerf you'll need to be scared of? If they nerf substat buffing. If docs can't buff substats, only Health and Action, then people won't be able to wear armor to do specials. In fact, they won't be able t put on a suit of comp at all without a pixie and a brandy...

Then we might have to actually start working hard on lower ham. We'd Nerf ourselves

hmm, ya know, the developers didn't think of 2 critical things when they first allowed high grade composite to be made:

1). Players gathering huge resources over 6+ months of play. After 6+ months you have elite resources. Elite resources make great armor.

2). Buffs. It's not the armor. It's the buffs. You'll do just as good with 60% composite. It's not the armor that protects you, it's the buffs regenerating your ham.

With buffs, wearing armor with 900/900/1000 ham is fine. You can do an unlimited number of attacks and still regnerate insanely fast. There's no point to making lo-ham armor.

I was there when it was just spice. There was a penalty for wearing armor. You couldn't wear it, and if you could somehow through slicing and spices, it wasn't that good. Armor is not the problem. It's buffs. Doctors given some kinda use in the game, breaks armor. Chefs given some kinda use in the game, makes mind buffs 2nd rate and ruins spices.

Only valid reason i can see for rebalancing armor is to make people look different. I'll hold my judgement until the publish comes out, but let's just look at the track record? I've seen muds with more interesting, and more balanced, combat models.

I'll be quiting this game soon, not because of an armor nerf, just because i'm sick of wasting $15 dollars a month.

I dunno. My fear is that if in fact armor stats are lowered across the board, they won't be able to figure out how to nerf existing armor.

I don't really think that they're lowering resists across the board. They couldn't if they were going for also change the in game armor... They said that they were going to change the way armor worked, and they might also include changing up Special Protections and Vulnerabilities, and changing how damage goes through armor and such. Until they say what's happening, I don't want to hear this "OMG they're nerfing my comp!" stuff.

Why can't everyone just hold on for a few months and wait to see what happens?

Oh well, this happens every time something changes.

Why is ppl always so unpolite towards others in these boards? We do have the boards for constructive talking betwen players who care about the game and where it's going. And like the last time when they decided to change the game in a radical way, they will fail. The market of stupid and ignorant players in this game is evergrowing it seems. The system needs an overhaul, i'v seen betas with better combat. The fact that I can get myself a large detachment HQ for the rebels in no more than a week is not good. Buffs are too good, armor is too good and CM is a boring thing destroying all chances of constuctive PvP playing. I must say that the games community has been changing radicaly for the last 6 months. Not to the better I must say. I must say that the enjoyment of most MM RPGs are best in the begining of the game, SWG had a great setting (doh!!) and will most likely continue to draw players. In the same time the system is drawing all kinds of ... well bad ppl. I'm losing ppl in my guild everyday to the fact that the game is not providing them with one of the more critical aspects, community. We are loosing one of the thing making this game good. In the same time we are ganing more and more power gamers who just tend to say hi and maybe something else and then go level for 6 hours straigt logging of with a short "nn". As fun as it might be to get your force sensetive character this is not what RPG is all about. I would rather see it go the other way with lees of a game and more of a chat room. this might sound bad but think of it, at least some of us do this for fun and not to win. Most players will understand that they cant win in the end and then they will leave. this is not good for SONY and so they will countinue with drawing power gamers to the game thereby drawing more ppl who will power level jedi and then leave creating a circle of stupidity and thereby destroying the core of players playing for some relaxation and "living the saga". No I somewhat feel that i'v lost the meaning of this thread somewhere and will ends this rant here.

I am out of touch with posting here at Armorsmith...but what i gather is that they will put a effective % cap lower than what we have now. I do totally agreed that there are tooo many 90% comp armors out there.

But, I personally feel that if they are going to balance out the armors, they should also balance out the weapons at the same time. I mean, some of the weapons have 500+ max base dam. I understand that it is prof based but that is just way out there. Don't get me wrong, I love to have high dam weapons and I do seek for them.

Once this changes goes into effect, ppl will be calling nerfs to weapons because our armor wiill no longer protect us. well...not as much.

I do think that armor balance should be done. But, I alsothink the balance should be done across the board, not just one prof at a time, especially armor vs weapons.

I'm still pretty new to armorsmithing, but I'm no stranger to armor. Made my way to master bounty hunter and a few other professions.

All in all, I'd have to say that I think buffs are more to blame than huge resist armor. When buffs completely negate HAM costs of specials and weapons REGARDLESS of armor... there's a problem. Hell, I am TKM and I don't even NEED armor... just buff me up, and I can take on enraged rancors with no problem.

Another reason nobody wants to group is that, 99% of the time, there is not an advantage to it versus soloing. Only one person may loot (the melee ninja looters always snatch that) and the ones who need weapons/combat experience the least get the most. If they're gonna nail us down to grouping with others for the bigger planets, I hope that they give us some advantage to doing so.

Otherwise, they can kiss their player base good bye.

One, I have been an armorsmith since july of last year, and i will never give it up.

That said, my biggest fear is that with the nerf of armor, they will not nerf creatures and NPC's to the same extent. What crap is it, if we will be reduced to making 50% base armor, when there is still out there with 100%? So, you are telling me, that if i shoot you with a rocket launcher, you can take no damage AT ALL, because it is blast damage. Where is the logic in that? Especially if the creature will b able to use its claws to rip open our armor like tissue paper.

And lastly, honest to god i truelly believe that the day after the nerf composite, Akme or Jzeus will figure out a way to make 80% kinetic again, because they are so damn l337.

I will join the original poster in leaving the profession if/when they nerf composite. And I dont care how many of you call me a whiny pissant, theres simple reasons for quitting and I will list them.

1) I worked too hard to be able to make decent armor. The best product I can make, is what I make. I take pride in it. For them to nerf it into oblivion amounts to forcible entry of my backdoor...

2) They give us 280k ham stormtroopers. 400k+ ham super battle droids. Kimogilas that are 100% resistant to fire and acid... and now they wanna nerf our armor so we have even less chance against these monstrosities. Its just wrong.

3) Variety is good. the more this company "balances" things the more like DAoC it becomes and the less interesting anything is. Newbie armorsmiths do not deserve to make as much money as the masters who have paid there dues. I started armorsmith and was hardly selling anything, and over time got better at making armor, developed a customer base, and now do a fair business. But I earned that business.

4) Im basically sick of nerfs. SOE cannot think of anything better to do than to nerf everything BECAUSE of the "whiny pissants". "Why doesnt my pistol do as much damage as that guys rifle?" So instead of boosting the pistol, their gonna nerf the rifle. Once again variety is essential to a competitive environment.

5) If they wanna nerf something lets start with doctor buffs. this is what TRULY makes the game insane. limit master doc buffs to 250/500/750/1000 on the enhancements and leave my armor alone. This would be plenty balance.

6) Its my choice to play the class I want to play. If they make my armor useless, I will not want to make it anymore. Why make a product inferior to what you were making yesterday? ill simply let someone else do it. I won't. I already spend too much time making stuff for others while their out running around in armor i made killing stuff and making 38k every 5 minutes doing missions on Dantooine.Their having fun, while Im working... these are the same folks that think my armor is too expensive BTW.

Before all the flaming starts I leave all of you with one final thought. SOE is responsible for the game as it is now. THEY did it.THEY made it.ALL of these things that everyone points to and says "OMG look at that! Its SO WRONG!' SOE did. its SOE's fault. THEY screwed it all up... WHAT ON EARTH MAKES ANYONE THINK THEY CAN FIX IT? THEY WILL JUST SCREW IT UP WORSE THAN IT ALREADY IS BECAUSE ULTIMATELY THEY DON'T LISTEN TO FEEDBACK. tHEY JUST KEEP SWINGING THAT NERF BAT!

To heck with it. once they nerf my composite, my guns, my polearms, I can finally start saving 30 dollars a month and work in the garden. This post isnt about the armor nerf, its about SOE nerfing the GAME into oblivion, not just armor. They need to raise up the other things and quit lowering everything. GIVE chubas 1000 ham instead of 200... I dont care. Just quit changing the RULES every month or so because of lack of foresight.

FLAME AWAY!!! I wont be reading it anyway, I dont care what a WHINY PISSANT has to say anyway.
