I'm an MAS that loves his profession. People will always need armor, so I will keep making it.

If they nerf Composite and lets say that Tantel becomes the next "uber" armor. All of you posting about how you hate seeing everyone in Composite will be posting then about how you hate seeing everyone in Tantel, hate just making Tantel armor, etc.

The reason why everyone wheres Composite currently is that it:

1.) Works correctly

2.) Broad spectrum of protection. - You don't have to carry around 3 suits of armor for different situations. I don't have the room to carry 3 full suits (or 2 even) on me.

3.) Encumbrance is neglible because of buffing. Even if I do buy "low encumbrance" Composite, I still can't get it on without buffing. So I might as well buy the ultra-high resist armor, since I already have to buff, whats the difference?

4.) Other armor sucks. People still don't use Tantel because they think its broken still (I think this may start selling well since it has no vulnerabilities).

5.) Resource requirements for the other armor types use WAY too many harvestable resources. This causes the lower armor types to be be MORE costly than composite to make, and harder to make in large quantities.

6.) Some armorsmiths have almost spent a full year stockpiling awesome resources to make armor. Lets screw them over because some noob master hasn't planned ahead, so there composite sucks and can't compete.

Personally, if the max on Composite was say 50% resists, if everything else remained the same as of today (creatures and NPC's unchanged), I wouldn't buy it.

This would also make such drops as Nightsister Layers, Janta Hide, Krayt Scales, etc...........pretty much useless.

Also if they put more vulnerabilities into Composite, lets say Cold or Heat, people that PvP will start complaining that they are being 1 shot killed and then will call to nerf the profession that killed them.

If you get killed all the time in PvP, maybe you should learn how to actually fight, and stop shifting the blame on Armor, buffs, etc.....

It's not like they're getting rid of armor, just changing it's effectiveness. We also need to see how the smuggler revamp works. Suppose a smuggler can choose his slices and gets to experiement on them (Maybe with less leeway than current master crafters, since it's pretty rare to get a good success or worse at master level). In a case like this, people may be able to consistently slice armor for effectiveness. a 50% base suit is still 60% with a 20% slice. If a non AP weapon hits you (PvE) you'll only have 10% less resists than an 80% suit after the armor rating is factored in. So in this hypothecial situation, the huge, game braking, imma-go-play-battlefield-vietnam-where-I-have-no-armor-at-all MegaNerf means 10% less damage for you.

We may actually need to rely on skills for defense, with armor to back it up. When I started my 2nd accout I was a novice brawler wearing my 74% Ubese and I soloed all kinds of Dant missions that payed 5-6K leveling Brawler! It took a little longer than when I was good, but a TKM can do most Dant missions with no armor at all if they're buffed. I should not have been able to level my novice brawler on an "Adventure Planet", I should have been killing kreetles and such on Tat like a proper newbie.

As for PvP, both players get the same access to armor, it's not like anyone will have an advantage, so who cares? Armor doesn't protect against CM's anyway, and that's all large scale PvP is, CM Wars. If they nerf CM too (75% PvP reduction?!?!?!?!??!?) then again, people will need smart templates to get by, armor will be used as it always is, cept maybe, just maybe, someone will use a different suit of armor here and there, god forbid things get unpredictable.

My prediction, this will hardly affect us at all, if anything, slightly less protection will make people get smarter templates for defense, and they will still buy the stuff, perhaps more so if they take more damage.

Bring the nerf on, I'm looking forward to it

You people are all quite astute, my sentiments seem to run the party line.

1. There is plenty of cash in the economy to afford the fact that people 'might' not run the same high paying missions. Besides, missions use Kinetic mostly, and PvP comp isn't what people wear for this. Although i do fear a spike in terms of the number of 'have-nots' begging for sweet armor, cause they can't afford it any other way.

2. The idea of 'good' armorsmiths still being 'good' holds alot of truth if two things happen. First, as dirth suggests, they need to make sure the re-balance doesn't allow for a pre-nerf market. Second, they need to not have a cap, as another person suggested, cause then it would.

3. For all the whiners who threaten to quit, I don't think you will be missed. For the people who do choose to quit, I say, good for you. You are sticking to your principles and have every right to do with your life as you please.

As for the previous poster who suggested this would be good because armor would wear out faster, I would like to point out that if the armor is nerfed, those same buyers won't be doing the high paying missions anymore, and they won't have the money from them to buy your armor.

Why not?

The devs have stated that not only will armor be getting hit, but weapons and professions will be too. I imagine they are hoping that the advanced planets will become group only planets, and that individuals will no longer be able to tackle a janta mission by themselves. So instead of running missions in solo groups and banking 500k per day, you'll be grouping and splitting your mission payouts.

I would guess that they are looking to knock all combat professions back to the point they can only hope to solo about half of the mobs in the game, and leaving the other half to be group only content.

I know for one, that if the development team feels they need to take all the work ive done for the last few months and make my armor complete crap, and my resources ive been collecting for months useless. I will instantly drop armorsmith and let the noobies go back to buying chitin off the bazzar. I dont think by nerfing armor across the board its going to balance anything, armor was one of the only things you could customize in pvp that would either make or break you. There is alot more to composite than 80% kinetic 55% base cookie cutter armor. Alot of math and alot of experimenting has lead to the 90% base 26 % stun comp you see out there. And its not something everyone wears. I think this is the worst thing that will happen in this rebalance by far, and I dont even want to bring up the fact that they are nerfing us with a double stick by making our top customers (jedis) never able to wear armor again, as soon as they make it available to everyone in the game to dabble in jedi. I mean what gives, did someone rip of TH on an armor deal? This will probably get me to quit the game, and just play battle field vietnam. It shows a complete disregard for the players that have taken the time to work this hard. I will not continue to pay for them to kick me in the nuts on a whim.

Personally, as a Master Armorsmith I am delighted to see the changes. Its not a nerf....dont you think 85% resistance is a little insane? As an armorsmith, I do. Im rather glad to see the stats lowered....it'll give Boba Fett some type of "heroic status" now....heck, I was tired of seeing my armor better than Boba's.

I dont call this a "complete" disregard for the players. I see it as one of many steps to balance a borked combat system

I'm not so sure the devs are trying to screw people over as much as fix the game.

Granted, they must have been retarded to think people wouldn't reach the upper limits

they set, but even if they had the foresight to realize this,I don't think they thought

SO MANY people would.

Unfortunately for them, this game has attracted and kept the people that love to solo

everything and not have to deal with other people constantly.

As far as the armor nerf goes, I think they'll change the ENTIRE crafting system, to

allow upper level smiths to create the uber stuff, while lower levels can still be of some

value to the game. Let's just hope they don't bork it like what happened to WS a few days

ago.

The only crafting I do is for smuggler tools and spices, and I find myself running out of

room (I'm a packrat when it cmes to loot), which gives me some idea of the space

troublesthe real crafters are facing. Perhaps there should be a petition for more storage

space along with the revamp?

Most Importantly, they gave this idea of a combat rebalance/nerf out to players a while ago.

This probably means that their designers are actually taking time to think through the changes.

Hopefully, they are also taking player feedback into account. I have to say, the changes they

put in where it looked like they really spent time on seemed to go off fairly smoothly (not entirely,

but that's probably QA's fault as much as any).

90% armor is too much, it killes the game.

If someone is leaving the game cause he can't make 90% composite anymore then just leave and stop whinning BOY.

Like we ever care if you are leaving, staying or what ever you want to do.

One thing i realy want to say THANK YOU UBER ARMORSMITHS YOU REALY KILLED THE PVP ASPECT OF THE GAME.

Ok I have a few things to say.

1. Composite will always be the best "regular armor." By regular I mean the stuff that any master armorsmith can craft. There is a reason that you need to be a master to make it. Because it has the greatest potential for base effectiveness and allows for 3 layers. It will probably stay the best after the nerf, but other armors won't suck as much which is what people have been requesting for some time.

2. From rumors I've heard that RIS armor is going to elude the nerf and keep its incredible stats and super low encumberance which will make it the ultimate armor to own for any purpose pvp or otherwise. As of now the dual vulnerabilities have made pvp use of RIS somewhat foolish and the armor type has been resigned to a rare collectable.

3. If there is a pre-nerf market it will simply be another market that the few wise will invest into by making schematics for the pre-nerf armor. 3 little pigs - in the end, the one that wasn't lazy had the house. Prepare for the market forecast and you should do very well for yourself.

4. If there is a cap. Any decent armorsmith will be there already. So all they're really doin is capping the price of the armor. This will give all consumers a standard to go by that has somehow managed to escape the economy on my server. Prices for good comp are all over the board.

Just some thoughts.

The rumors i've been hearing is that armor will be hard capped at 70%. 50-60% seems too low, especially with jedi masters getting 95% resist robes. Granted we'll have to wait and see what the devs decide on. I think 70% would be good, not too high and not too low.

LoL ... Why do people keep talking about the upcoming nerfs without using the proper context?

Everything is going to be nerfed, buddy ... hate to break the news to you. This means armor, buffs, weapons, specials AND creatures/NPC's. The entire system will be overhauled and balanced.

Has it ever occur to you that Janta missions weren't intended to be solo-able? (Or should at least be more difficult?) Has it ever occurred to you that the game's economy is sooo out of whack because people are able to do these missions in the first place? (This feeds just the primary mission-goer, as well as the greedy armorsmith.) I remember doing Jinda missions on Endor for 22K after the game's release and thinking, "My god, this is insane!" I was a millionaire in about six hours of gameplay. They didn't 'nerf' those spawns until a few weeks had passed, after everyone was rolling in credits.

The bottom line is that nerfing everything across the board is a good thing. It revitalizes combat (making it more challenging), it normalizes the economy (making it less ridiculous), and it makes the game fun (not the mindless, no risk, grind-fest that it currently is.) If you can't see this, then I can only assume that you're just mad because you don't want to give up the 'phat cash' you 'earn' tricking out the only useful armor in the game. That's pretty one-dimensional, if you ask me.

Useless Drivel, and ill comment on some of thier points ^^^^^^

And you think this is a good thing that they are going to make any person that half asses thier wares compete with the person that has taken it seriously for 6 months +? That is the most foolish thing ive heard yet. And the following post mentioned that its across the board nerf, well so your saying the entire point of this is to make it so that only a jedi will be able to solo anything, and that all loot on the game that is normally near impossible to get as an individual will now be most definately impossible, and drag its price to the roof. Thus vastly increasing the gap between the haves and have nots. Yea that sounds like a great plan. What about those of us that dont have the time to prepare for 2 hours to get a group together, buffed, and briefed so the whole mission isnt a disaster? Oh yeah screw those guys we dont need them, they only make up the vast majority of the games population. Lastly what do you think is going to happen when the devs make all the 30 k missions and everything damn near impossible to solo by most everyone. Well that makes it so those of us with 50 mil credits in the bank will become near godly to the person still fighting to run missions. I dont see this as a good thing at all and im still waiting for someone to post something constructive and hopefully change my view of this.

Btw: For those calling me a whiner blah blah, the time to complain is now before its implemented, that is the only time you just might stand a chance to change the tides. Its not after the fact thats just called bitching and is counter productive. Much like the fools that troll the combat medic forum all day.
