Thread: Armorsmithing Mandalorian Armor *SPOILERS*

Ive been having afew more thoughts about this and I dont think I would have a problem with it if the process of turning a piece of Bounty Hunter armour into Mandalorian is nothing more than adding a few skill modifiers to the armour, changing the appearance, reducing the HAM cost or maybe boosting the base resists a little. If the transformation does more than this and actually changes the special protections, effectiveness or vulnerabilities (i.e. switching something from effectiveness to special protection or removing a vulnerability)of the original piece then I think an armoursmith should be involved.

I am right in assuming that the new Bounty Hunter armour will be made by armoursmiths?

BTW, why couldnt the devs of just made it so that you needed a tailor, droid engineer and armoursmith present to convert each piece of armour into Mandalorian, this would of made a lot more sense than dividing it between the professions as they appear to of done.

See my post about the specifics of Mandolian armour. Certain components (such as the Material and wiring/gadgets) may need other professions, this is not your normalarmour. And if wiring runs through parts its understandable that a DE is needed in the final stages of construction. So it is not so clearly an armorsmith issue. Composite yes, but Mandolian was as much gadgets as armour. Gadgets are not an Armoursmiths profession.

I have to correct you there. All mandalorian armor was not made with all the gadgets you see on Jango/Boba Fett's suit. Jango Fett added all those gadgets you see in the movies to a normal suit of Mandalorian armor. And from my understanding, Boba inherited that same suit with his father's death. Dang it. Nowyou made me soundlike a dork, lol. Don't expect Bounty Hunters to be running around shooting fire from their arse just because they're wearing this suit (Atleast it's not supposed to be that way). So Tailors and DEs really have no place in crafting this armor any more than they would composite. Again, I can see them making some of the subcomponents, but for them to be making the armor itself is ridiculous. And as an Armorsmith with very limited choice in armors to craft (Composite, Composite, a little Ubese, & more Composite...), it saddens me.

So a machine converts this "Bounty Hunter" armor? have u thought that maybe Schematics drop for this BH armor as well as loot drops? Therefore we would be coverting a new armor created by us...It makes sense to have BH armor as looted schematics that are gonna be as rare as the Geo Pistol Schematic therefore cutting down on a mass market of Mando armor.

Loot drops are very rarely better than player made so all will strive for the player made then converted armor... Also will this dungeon b instanced & timed therefore cutting down the chances of getting this armor created slimmer

Sorry if the post is a bit scrambled, i ve just got up...U surely must get what im probing at tho

So as an armorsmith, when will they be adding droids for me to create.

Sweet...more content and goals to strive for.

I'm glad I haven't spent my game time holed up in the shop. Be nice to meet some good Droid Engineers. So far the tailor I've met has been pleasant to work with.

Considering how it looks like the game is or perhaps moving towards cooperative play, I wonder why armorsmiths don't make the armor components for droids.

I don't understand the complaint that some people have regarding the involvement of armorsmiths in conjunction with other crafting specialists. Mandalorian armor should not be craftable via a schematic. This is supposed to be a rare piece of equipment, not something that people can grind out in factories. Having a quest-based system to obtain components for it is perfectly reasonable. In fact, we need more scenarios like this.

There is not nearlyenough collaborative effort in this game. I would be able to understand your complaints if armorsmiths were shut out of the process entirely, bu you're not. You're essential. Instead, my reading of some of these posts suggests that some (not all) of you are irritated that you are not the only crafter involved in the process, and that is simply insulting. What, exactly, is the harm in having droid engineers and tailors involved in the process? Why should one person be the one to get all the glory here? There's nothing wrong at all with sharing in the experience. For crying out loud, this is one of the most sought-after items in the game and should involve as much of the community as is plausible

With Mandalorian armor, there is much more going on than with other armor. This isn't just some shell that people are throwing on to protect themselves. It's special; there aspects to it that go far beyond what should be expected of an armorsmith, including (as others have already noted) electronics components and unique fabrics. For these special components, requiring a crafter who is a master in their design makes sense. Heck, I'm suprised that bio-engineers aren't worked in there somehow, too

For those of you who are pouting because you're not the only stars of the show, stop; get over yourselves. It only adds to the perception that some players have of armorsmiths as being motivated by greed and self-interest. For the rest of us, we can look forward to being part of a team effort for the creation of one of the most elite pieces of equipment in Star Wars.

Spacedog, I think you've misread many of the posts here. The armorsmiths aren't upset that others are involved, we're just insulted that it looks like that other profs will be doing the final assembly on ARMOR pieces. We wouldn't mind if the DE's and tailors had to make some of the components for the armor. It would be like putting a new battle droid in the game, but the Armorsmiths make it. How would that make the DE's feel?

Tothose stating that we want to just get rich off of this, I can guarantee we won't see anywhere near the cash from this as what Composite brings in. It will probably be as hard to do as RIS, so you won't be making that many pieces in the first place. Also, most people would probably gather together the loot needed, and then get the AS to do the final assembly, so all you can really charge for is resources and time.

We do They use composite segments for the armor. I make schematics on aregular basis for a DE.

lol, sorry to be so blunt but you disgrunteled armorsmiths needs to pull your fingers out of your asses. You've got really no clue how this is being made, what is going to be involved, all we know is you need an Armorsmith, a Tailor, and a Droid Engineer to make all the pieces, everything else is heresay, and you're all on here complaining already.

Tailors make pieces that go into Armor, Armorsmiths make pieces that go into Droids, all the professions depend on one another is it so suprising that they're not making this completely for Armorsmiths? You guys have already got Armorsmith-only quests from the RIS armor, what makes you think you should have Mandalorian all to yourself? Pretty arrogant way of looking at the situation, frankly you guys shouldnt even be touching the armor if this were staying true to continiuty, the very fact that it is being crafted in the first place is ridiculious, be glad that you're even getting to be involved in the process, the devs could have very easily made this loot-drop only and said screw the crafting professions.

Instead, they found a way to involve several different professions and force them to work with a combat group to make this armor (a first in SWG, forcing the crafting profession masters to get out of their shops and actually get involved), which should be an effecient limiting factor on the armor, since I doubt very many groups will actually come out with pieces of Mandalorian. /thumbsup Devs!

I agree. Armor should not be limited to armorsmiths. Not at all. Just like lightsabers should not be limited to Jedi. Anyone should be able to swing one around. And just like anyone should be able to create weaponry - I mean, it seems pretty simple, right? And just like anyone should be able to heal themselves when given a first aid kit, right? Just like anyone should be able to play a basic instrument, correct? Your logic is ridiculous, but you have provided comedy for me today with your post.

And I find it completely hypocritical that you would even DARE SAY that the armor shouldn't be crafted, because of "continuity" reasons, while you play your Jedi character. Get bent.

i hope that armorsmiths and the others arent involved when it goes live. its really annoying having to get crafters to make you the rewards for stuff like this. R.I.S. armor ok, since it was a armorsmith quest. but like my sig. says most rewards from themeparks are schematics. what is a combat character like me going to do with that? give it away thats it. The devs need to make this so that we can get it without crafters. like we need to collect the materials and the droid will make it for us.

and probably droid engineers need to make the helmet because Boba Fetts helmet is a tracker. so they probably need to make that....if that is true then they should make bounty hunters who have the armor be able to track the players they are hunting better. it gives them the location every once and awhile if they are close.
