Thread: Armorsmithing Mandalorian Armor *SPOILERS*
Just some info on the gadgets.
There was alot of the on Boba's suit. A short story of him in the Sarlacc pit went through a few of em and from the sounds this is where the armour design was based.
His clothing helped prefent the acid getting to him (plus interlinked the armour segements), and was no doubt tied into the Armour plates that he wore. Hence the need for a tailor skilled tailor perhaps.
He had a number of gadgets in his helm and controls on his wrist, the linking of these might be where a DE's construction comes into play where it is done after or during the armour segement construction. If anything here DE's should probably work on the armour after its base is constructed. It might be needed during.
I'm be interested in know its resists or special features, as I'm hoping Mandolian armour has some special features, but overall is crap in the resistance department. Compared to 'modern day' composite, I don't think it should stack up to it.

Peyoteboy, its not a matter of making more money, in fact I doubt the armoursmiths out to make huge amounts of credits will even bother touching Mandalorian armour, they will ignore it (as they did when wookie armour came in) and continue producing for the mass market.
The problem is that armoursmiths make armour by definition, droid engineers make droidsand tailors make fabrics & fashion clothing. By allowing non-armoursmiths to produce complicated armour pieces they are devaluing the armoursmith profession, its like allowing non-bounty hunters to do bounty hunter missions, or allowing non-doctors to buff.
The Mandalorian armour should either be ...
craftable only by armoursmiths but require specialist components from other crafting professions, i.e. Artisan, Tailor, Droid Engineer.
or ...
a questable upgrade for a new Bounty Hunter only armour that armoursmiths produce. Only Bounty Hunters should be able to perform the upgrade quests and they should be extremely hard to prevent large quantities of it getting into circulation.
This sounds bad, very bad.
Did you notice how it said convert BH armor (whats that?) into mandalorian? To me that sounds like we actually arent going to be CRAFTING anything but rather having the game covert a pice of armor into another with minimal player interaction.
Secondly im strongly opposed to other professions taking part in what is clearly an armorsmith issue. Its NOT about the money, since when has anyone for example been able to sell RIS at huge profit?
Third no "serious" armorsmith (that actually hasnt abused its way with merchant) is going to be able to make it in there. Why does every item we have to use in armor come from mobs that no armorsmith could ever dream about killing. (GDK and now this)
I was very excited when i heard mandalorian was finally making its way into the game but it seems it turned out to be a huge dissapointment as usual.

See my post about the specifics of Mandolian armour. Certain components (such as the Material and wiring/gadgets) may need other professions, this is not your normalarmour. And if wiring runs through parts its understandable that a DE is needed in the final stages of construction. So it is not so clearly an armorsmith issue. Composite yes, but Mandolian was as much gadgets as armour. Gadgets are not an Armoursmiths profession.
Look at it as a challenging Armoursmith quest, you have to work with others to produce an item. People have already stated that they don't want this in abundance about the place. Sounds like a nice solution. If you want to build new armour you were just given that with Wookie armour. This is a quest with challenges.

I'd say thats the whole SP/Group issue, its possibly to encourage grouping and teamwork. You already have the SP armour if you use your own harvestors with building composite.

It no doubt will be for some
If it encourages grouping I'm all for it. Even if the reward is just some fancy cheap armour.

I hope not, Mandelorian armor is supposed to be extremely rare in this time frame.
