Thread: Is this right?
personally i dont like lasers for that very thing your complaining about. the only time a laser will out-max a T21 is on a target vulnerable to energy. and even then only on the rare high end rolls. of course there are cases of people bad mouthing the T21 but it almost always involves someone using a excellently made laser with high damage slice and powerup and compairing to a shoddy made nonsliced nonpowered up T21... when both rifles are generally the same in manufacturer experimentation and material quality used the T21 will outdamage the laser on every occasion.
you can test yourself by shooting at lairs and seeing your results. the only thing that lairs take into consideration is raw damage rolls and special multipliers. AP doesnt count when shooting at lairs. the varience of the laser will always lose to a T21.

This is to do with range mitigation, because your min and max are sooooo far apart, it is possible to have a great varity of hit results, like between 200 and 1800

Iseem to do really random amounts of dmg, i currentlyuse a laser rifle
5.6spd
42 - 404dmg (dont think ive had it sliced yet)
and its not just with random attacks, im currently 3/0/1/1 and even when using Headshot3, the random dmg's i seem to do shock me, ive managed to hit somethings for around 1800dmg and done the same move on the same target and only hit for 200dmg, is this right? or am i bugged?
Ive been a master commando beforeand when using specials such as flamesingle2 i have regulary done around 6000dmg, there doesnt seem to be as big a difference between dmgs for certain professions as there does with rifleman
Look at it this way, with that rifle and normal autofire attacks, you will hit for:
Against AR3 (heavy armor):32 - 303 (average 167)
Against AR2 (medium armor): 63 - 606 (average 335)
Against AR1 (light armor):79 - 758 (average 418)
Against AR0 (no armor):98 - 945 (average 552)
Headshot3 is a 3.0x damage modifier. Against a target with light armor (and again ignoring resistances), you will hit fora minimum of79 * 3 =237 and a maximum of 758 * 3 =2,274 . Add, say, 20% energy resists, and you will hit for190 - 1,819. Against an target with no armor, and your damage will go up, but the max you could hit for (without resistances) right now will be 945 * 3 = 2,835.
So it sounds like you are seeing exactly what you should see. A wide variety of damages due to the weapon you are using and the type of targets you will likely hit.

Nah, that's most definitely wrong. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's twisted. It's twisted, and wrong.

Are you sure? Have you actually tried to train one of the skills in another branch? Reason I ask is because once I completed the quest, I got the prof showing on my skills page like I could train any of them, but the only ones I can train are novice combat prowess and the ranged acc branch
