They'rea wookies only friend. They don't do much for mobs with kinetic hits. Help you last a little longer versus energy weapons on stormtroopers and such. They usually prevent 30 to 100 damage. In a heavy fight like the warren they can go from 1000 to zero by the end of the fight. If you can't wear armor and are fighting ranged weapons they help a little and every little bit helps. They, however, are not worth forking over more than say 5000-8000 credits for. I've gone through as many as 4 per session of play.

Can't wait to see Fencers and Combat Medics with full stomachs wearing PSGs attacking jedi on live.

PSG's will not be effective at all. Yes the may gice 20-40% resist or something but when someone wears it our Armor Piercing will set in giving us that 40% damage back anyhow

that would rock.... have 1 master combat medic withmind diseases / poisons slinging at a fair distance... with 1 Fencer defense stacker... all wearing PSGs, full stomachs, etc.

PSG are useless unless the resist 25%is above due to AP2 on the lightsaber.
- AP2 vs AR1 equals a 25% damage increase
- need atleast 25% damage resist to lightsaber damage to break even
- Even with 40% resist, the wearer only sees a reduction of 15%
It is probably more costly to wear a generator than to just deal with the damage. With Jedi spamming specials at roughly 300 damage, this means a 40% shield generator is going to allow 255 damage to pass through. Not exactly cutting inot the damage by any means.

Fresh data from TC3b...
The PSG:
PSG Imperial Test Prototype -- Ascerbic Armory <ODT>
2698/2698
Special Protection
Energy 37%
Effectiveness
Stun 45%
Lightsaber 45%
Heat 45%
Cold 45%
Electricity 45%
Vulnerability
Kinetic -

Acid -

When wearing it with my jed, it does count as armor -- meaning your saber dmg is v. low (like 10).
When wearing it on my doc alt, I get the "Your PSG.... prevented 16 points of damage."
With about3 minutes of attack (yeah my jed sucks currently with this build, heh) the condition of the PSG is now 1600/2698.
So, yeah, I'd say they work.

Just a quick note...
When it got to 0/2698 the PSG did indeed stop functioning.
For those that might be concerned, Shye's fine. With the buffs she's got on her, my jed is like a bumblebee.

Ive been an armorsmith for awhile and just started getting into the PSG arena. So what are good resists on these things? Some Ive seen the special, energy pumped up and others the base. I have only tried to get the Base up to help with the stun protection. My base hits 38% is that good or really crappy...? Thanks for your help.

Yes I am not a jedi.
PSGs should remain as they are and be fixed so they do not loose their resists after you log or cross server boundaries.
even 60% resists is small for a jedi, i go up against people with 85% resists to my hammer.
You guys choose the damage dealing proffession and demand 85% robes while being able to deal out damage that nobody can resist.
If the devs are going to allow jedi to openly fight non-jedi, then we should have something availible out there.

Well i don't think it's necessarily the fact that you have resistances to LS, but instead it's the fact that you have resistances and we have NONE. It is not a level playing field as it stands at the moment. I personally have little problem with the resistances so long as Jedi have something to curtail your damage as well. You mention going up against folks with 85% resistances to your damage..........did you not also have resistances to their damage?
Try this for a change: Duel a buddy who is using 60% armor to your damage type while you are wearing 0% resistance to his. Both of you should be fully buffed with all your foods and such. Then come back and tell us how it went. If you were able to beat him easily, then please share your wisdom on uber pvp skills.
