FS Experimentation gives a bonus to getting better experimentations (not more points), in the same way as a Research Center improves experimentation results without giving more points.
My guess is if you have FS Experimentation and are in a Reasearch Center you are hitting the +25 cap that exists on all skill mods. (RS is +15, FS Exp is +20.) Thus it's not as useful for you. I would assume Bespin Port is lumped in here too, so if you craft in a Research Center and have FS Experimentation you may be able to stop drinking and crafting.
Same thing probably goes for FS Assembly, Manufacturing Centers, and Pyollian Cake. (MC is +10, FSA is +20)
A CA is a Clothing Attachment. The right ones can increase your crafting skills. You need +20 (crafting type) Experimentation to get two more experimentation points.
I'm not sure if Assembly CAs and the other assembly mods mentioned above apply towards the same +25 cap. If they do you can get FS Assembly and remove most of the need for Assembly CAs.
I believe foods and drinks were meant to make the skill go over the cap?

It helps the % of getting an amazing. It doesnt help the quality of armor in any way. I got my FS trees as freebies. I dont think id grind them out otherwise...Ive heard its a bi%ch hehe.
In a nutshell...It saves you time when trying for amazings over and over when making schems.

is FS crafting worth it? What does it help do?
Having used it before, I say no. The only thing it really accomplishes is saving time when you're trying to get a double- or triple-amazing experimentation schematic. But it's certainly no guarantee, and in the end provides no benefit above and beyond what you can get as a non-FS smith. The only real potential boon area is with things loot items and RIS, where getting great results in one shot is more advantageous, but even with that there's no surefire guarantee.
With the repair line, my impression was that I was getting more "minor blemish" repairs than "good" or "marginal" repairs compared to when I just had a +25 repair suit Armor repair is such a crapshoot most of the time that any effect is probably fairly minor.

Well crap. I've been beating my head against the Warren, trying to solo it to get that last dang content badge just so I could go FS for the artisan bonuses. Now you're saying there's no real benefit to it? Great, 2 weeks and multiple buffs wasted
What about the experimentation branch of crafting mastery? I read on Allakhazam that you can get an additional 2 experimentation points. Does this make you a 14-pt armorsmith, or do these two points supercede the two you get from a crafting suit?

Blah, never mind, just discovered that they do not add experimentation points. Sorry for the double post, but I can't edit yet.

In my opinion the Experimentation line is the only worthwhile FS crafting branch. Since I've gotten it I've never had anything less than a great success. Assembly is useless now, Repair has never worked (afaik) and nobody really knows for certain what Crafting Techniques does. So just get the Experimentation line...you can probably finish it in a couple of weeks if you work on it a couple of hours each night.

Actually. Assembly is not worthless.
There's a difference between a great assembly and an amazing assembly.
An example. I was making some kinetic layers for some comp armor as a 10 point AS.
Normally I'd be lucky to max out base and have1 point left over (for kin or HAM what ever)
However when I got an ammazing assembly. and 2 ammazing experimentations. And maxed otu the base line. guess what? Still 4 base.. but now I had2 points to spare. Were I an 11 or 12pt AS that would have left me with even more.
There are alot of armorsmiths out there that think that just because you cant critfail now means any assembly tapes/skill mods are totally worthless. And this cant be farther from the truth. Because it's the ammazing assemblies followed by ammazing experimentations that have netted me either another point to use, or some times that extra percentage point higher than what is normally possible with the same combination of materials. It can also have an affect with the armor segmetns as layers have decimal values you DONT see. So if you get for example a 4.5 base layer. You'll only see it as a 4 base. But when puti nto a comp layer the resist will come out alot higher than it would have normally.
It's not common. It rarely happens. But anything that upps the chance to get something like that. In my mind is well worth the effort. besides. It's not like it's hard to get the XP. You just go about your everyday crafting. And once you hit your cap. Pop over to the village. Convert the XP and go on your merry way. Nor are the crafter related quests all that difficult to be honest. Just time consuming and repetitive like everything in SWG.

Yes, no failures, amazings 50% of the time it seems like. Totally worth it
