Thread: Wookie Armor Report

As a tailor, I amtotally PO'ed about the way the dev's are doing this new wookiee armor.

I have outfitted a huge amount of wookiees since the game came out. I have loyal wookiee customers.

Armor comes out and now its handed over to armorsmiths (even though there is alreadywookiee battle padding and wookiee crested battle padding in the tailor tree) so now I will lose wookiee customers to armorsmiths and will need to make stupid armor segments to help the very armorsmiths who are stealing my customers?

Any of you armorsmiths see the tailor nerf here or is it just me.

By the way most tailors are opposed to making more componants. Our profession is turning into a supplier profession instead of a true profession. We must be the biggest supply oriented profession in the entire galaxy. I for one am sick of it. At least with trim, syn cloth and rfp it's something we use anyways. Armor segments are something we would only make for armorsmiths... it's retarded.

I love that wookiees are getting armor, but why the heck should we tailors help armorsmiths who will take our wookiee clients from us? To me it hurts and is a slap in the face to me and my profession.

Just a quick question, as I'm so far from Master Armorsmith it's not even funny;

What skill level is required to craft this? Looking at the complexity, I'm guessing Personal armor II or III?

We have been asking for the ability to put RFP into the battle padding so that we could at least add BE tissues to the darn thing.

But again we get overlooked for any requests even if they are reasonable.

Why don't they just give us the title: Supplier of useless componants instead of tailor.

I don't care if armorsmiths make the armor.. I do care that they are asking US to supply armorsmiths with these stupid componants. Tailors use the other componants they make but this would be specifcally something else for us to make which in no way enhances our profession. It's stupid and its a tailor nerf.

If they want armorsmiths to make wookiee armor, fine but don't turn around and expect tailors to supply them with the componants .. and then take our customers away from us. I guess it bugs me that we continually get asked to make componants and get no real good things that people want to buy.

Looking at the bracers I see the hints of stat shifting. I hope I really don't see that. Maybe the bracers areplanned to have the same vulnerabilities as the rest of the armor and it's something they are working on fixing. This armor has the Special protection feel of Chitin and the Effectiveness protection percentagesof Padded. Not too shabby for the first round of WookArmor. Kinetic and Energy protection added to a few leftover PSGs and you got yourself some protection.

We got apron schematics, pack schematics in which we need find heavy leather for the darn things. Players that don't even need the heavy leathers jack the price up so much that tailors cannot even afford to buy them. They cannot be worn by wookiees either, which stinks because we always are trying to help wookiees.

50% of the items (maybe more) that we can make, are things nobody would ever wear. We can't make clothes in a factory because we need to make them all different colors.

We already supply, chefs, doctors, armorsmiths with componants (which I have no problem with) but the wookiee armor componant has nothing to do with tailoring... at all. It is not a tailor 'item'

The whole wookiee armor belongs to armorsmiths.

Tailors having the new Padded segment is no different than the Fiberplast Panels, Reinfornced Fiberplast, and Synthetic Cloth required for all other armor that is tailor made. So they added a new item for tailors, if you don't want to make it ... don't. You are not required to. The clothing is not being replaced by armor. Incase you have not looked around many players wear clothes when not equipted with armor. Why? Because they regenerate their HAM faster with clothing on versus armor. Who wants to wait longer than they have to to bring their HAM bars to full.

In regards to not being able to use a factory... HELLO it is a choice to make different colors. The same choice AS have when we craft Ubese or any non composite armor. You could use a factory if you wanted to but would haave to stock alot of the same color stuff like AS's do. Again its a CHOICE.

Ok so what does the padded armor segment have to do with tailoring? Can I use this for any other tailor item? NO

Why would I bother to make it? It's not something I use anyways, like syn cloth and rfp and trim

I think you're missing the point that it is something you *could* use. They're trying to make crafting and even combat professions interdependent here, and, as much as I don't like ASs being dependent on Tailors to make Armor, it *could* help form cool businesses; however, no one is forcing you to do this and you still have all the other clothes tomake. Now if this were an argument saying that "tailors don't need any more items, they already have AS components" then you'd have a right to be indignant (even though it's true).

Staying out of the actual debate on clothing/armor

But I've got say on this point.. Itis very different on the padded segment. It'll actually affect the armor resits.. they're essentially making a segment for Wookiee armor. I'm not against the component, but I'm not comfortable at all with someone else's component determining the outcome of my armor. No offense to any tailors, but this is like when docs had to experiment on CM components it just doesn't make sense, and if you don't know how to experiment or what resources (stat wise) to gather.. well it's just bad.

I suppose there are plenty of other situations where this works already, but for a group that fundamentally doesn't experiment, and that any old quality material will do (right?) shouldn't be not experimenting on an armor subcomponent. Guess that's my two credits.

Like I said have no problem with buying stuff from a tailor, but just not in favor of the experimenting being in their hands.

Plus the wookiee padded armor segment is only used for AS.

It has no use to me as a tailor.

It is not a tailor item and has nothing to do with our profession and yet has an effect on another class.
I'm sure many tailors will make them for their PA or whatever, but honestly I am having trouble as seeing this as being a tailor made item not an AS item.

Sorry 4 the brief hijack but Chiana that calendar thing is the coolest thing ive seen! Makes me want to switch servers...

Also, I agree it must be a pain for tailors to have to make all those components. I know my tailor must be mad after I pillage like 30 crates of synth cloth and rfps off her vendor. Probably takes about 30 mins for her to put them on there and 5 for me to pull them off. Oh well, we have our wookie armor people, be happy.

As Chiana was saying, I do think Tailors got robbed. I love the crested battle padding. I think it should have some resists as well.

I say if the tailors wanna make a huge beef about this, I would be happy to make the Padded piece myself. 3 reasons

1. i don't like to be dependent on other profs.

2. I wouldn't like to rely on their experimentation.

3. It would add to the costs of the overall suit, cause they will take a markup, then I will mark above that, so it will cost more.

let em protest. If they can get it changed, fine, if not, fine.
