Thread: Slicing
Slicing does nothing to degrade the weapon in any manner. If someone fails the slice then the weapon will be unsliceable, but still retain its original stats and durability. Sliced weapons can be repaired with no difference than repairing an unsliced weapon. I have heard that repairing a sliced weapon at very low durability will somehow "remove" the slice operation, but not make it sliceable again. If you wait till your weapon is at 100 durability then you should be taking better care of your gear anyway.
At the moment, the only advantage will be making your own clamps. It appears the dev.s
have given us some hope that changes will be made to the smuggler proffesion, until this
happens, making your own clamps is the advantage of Slicing IV.

has anyone else noticed that you can't trade rebel faction pts for slicing experience? i thought i had a great idea for getting the slicing exp required for Slicing I: Terminals after using up all my saved locked containers. was i pissed when slicing exp wasn't offered. just about everything else was offered. if we at least got 50 exp when failing to open the container, that would be something, since i fail half the time. even in failure, we should learn a bit, right?
anyway, i hear that molecular clamps guarentee success. so far, the ones i have seen on the market are pretty expensive. can they be used more than once? or are they used up after one use, requiring another buy?
You can only use a clamp once, and you can't fail unless you're a hack that didn't bother to read what wire to cut. On Kaury factory crates of clamps run you 10-15K. It's well worth it though.
A lot of different types of skills cannot be traded with faction xp besides slicing. They seem mostly elite type skills.
I think just about every novice smuggler tried this. Especially during container hunting. ![]()
Come to my shop north of Theed. I always have crates of WUKs, AUKs, and clamps on sale for very good prices. Send me an email in-game and I will shoot you the waypoint.
