The Slicing skill is learned at Novice Smuggler. At that point they can slice loot locked containers. As a smuggler gets moreXP they can then slice mission terminals, weapons, and armour.

Tools can be made for smuggling, as one gets more XP the tools they make increases the percentage of success. But such tools can only be used by smugglers.

I believe the containers glued to the ground in caves are not sliceable (bugged?) at least as of yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to hunt to collect locked containers?

They come off humanoids, or you can ask around for them...

Theres a rather odd argument going on between bounty hunters on the Gorath server right now, Though id come to you for the answer.

Seems one is almost gotten to slicing two, the second is saying bounty hunter terminals do not share the benefits of being sliced. Does anyone know for certain?

Bounty hunter terminals do not pay out a higher reward when sliced. Bug or "feature"? you figure it out.

Yes, unfortunately slicing the BH terminals does not work in terms of providing higher payouts. Whether or not this was intended by the devs I have absolutely no idea admittedly. I suspect its one of those things they probably just never honestly thought about.

In fact, one of them is probably reading this right now saying "Smuggler slicing BH terminal.....smuggler and BH combo? DOH! Why didn't I think of that??"

go in game, look up bounty hunter under the faq (ctrl-h) read the BH discription there.

You'll get a hell of a laugh out of it.. It's on the slicing subject.

The logic behind it is that a npc sets a reward to kill another npc (a bounty). just cus u sliced a terminal doesnt mean that the person will pay more money for the bounty. Missions on the other hand are electronicly payed by the company that set the mission and pay according to the price they set, if a slicer can slice (hack) the terminal and change the price he gets payed more as its dont electronicaly. but as for bountys, the person who set the bounty wont send more money then he offerd.

I'd say let you slice the terminal, because the money paying you is coming from your client's bank account...so it's doable.

However, when the client realizes you're stealing money from him, he sets out a 10k bounty on you for stealing a insignificant 2.5k .

Yes and of course all the people who place bounties use the local imperial bank to transfer their illegal funds.

Anyone have any idea what the downside to slicing is (if any)? Have you actually observed this downside take effect?

I heard that it lowered the durability of the item.

I've always had the idea that slicing any item renders it irrepairable in the future. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
