Thread: Armor Repair
Don't feel to bad, I got ganked by some nasties outside the front door of my own house and had 10 suits of advanced composite decay. They were still in the freaking crates but since I had walked all of 40 feet from my last factory to my house they all lost 5% off the top.
Personally if it is in a crate I don't think it should decay until the crate at least is unpacked in some form.

Tailors are experiencing the same exact thingwith clothing repair right now. Our mastry over fine garments seems to do nothing for patching holes and mending tipped seams.
Considering the unpredictable natureand high failure rate of repairing, I usually wait till around 10 - 20%, so that I don't lose much when ... er if... (heh!) I lose my armour due to repair failure.
The failure rate is way too high at the moment to consider repairing at a higher % to be a reasonable and common practice.
Perhaps rename the tool to the "lucky dip 10% chance to repair! repair tool".
best results: get a 99% repair tool, stand in front of a clothing and armor crafting station. since i do so with weapons (sure at a weapon station) - no more fails (last 5x...)
Just thought I'd add that attempts to repair sliced items, either weapons or armor, seem to meet with much higher critical failure rates.
I repaired my entire suit of unsliced ubese last night with only one 'good' success, and the rest with only 'minor blemishes'. But I've also tried to repair guildmates' sliced composite sets and had to replace 3 or 4 pieces due to critical failures, and 2 other pieces had their max condition lowered by about half.
Here is the deal:
- Armor becomes much more difficult to repair as it gets more and more damaged.
- If you find an armor repair skill tape and use it... you will get a bonus and a new entry (armor repair) in your skill list.
- Armosr smiths don't have armor repair modifiers listed in any skill box
With all this in mind, your chances of repairing are as good as my alts chances (a master armor smith) if you look at the actual numbers on the skill chart. However, this repair skill may also be an innate ability that isn't noted on the sheet (kind of like a master smugglers ability to slice for 5% more than aslicer).
Best piece of advice for repairing stuff is to do one of the two listed below:
- Repair before you hit 40%, or
- Repair before you hit 40%...
Always use the best tool you can get your hands on.
