Don't underestimate our bleeds, I've had many a bleed be over 5000.

Master Sword is BETTER in ALL aspects than a Master Pikeman can ever be. They are better at PvP and PvE. It is that simple.
There is the good the bad and the ugly, Pikeman happen to be the ugly.

I am a master carbineer..pike and brawler w/ some fencer. I can put 4 bleeds on the action pool plus a poison and a disease. Then i just poleaction2 until they die. I have been beaten but also beaten the best.- EpiC
i am new to pike but i wanted to address this topic, i mastered 2hand first and while they do a lot of damage the fastest hammer i ever got with a powerup or not was 3.6. My lva with a powerup swings at 2.8 the damage isn't there yet. I did buy the first lva i came across though. As a pikeman i think i could take a 2hand swordsman. If i ever see one on corbantis i'll be sure to challenge them. I hated two hand for the simple fact that I was swinging a hammer that with a powerup did an ungoldy 709 damage max and I still couldnt' knock anything off it's feet.
Pikeman is so much fun i can't wait to level some more to see what i'm really capable of. As far as accuracy goes, I occasionally get stints were i miss 4 or 5 times in a row but those are very rare. Most of the time I miss maybe once in a contest. And for leveling I tend to stay on dath and kill all the escaped slaves for just over 3k a piece. Pretty nice and don't have to run far.

An equally buffed/armored Master Swordsman would pound you into the ground.
All things equal, Swordsman is better at PvE and PvP than a Pikeman.

Nope, have to disagree here. Pikeman vs Swordsman, I think the swordsman will win every time hands down. They both have crap mods and the swordsman just does more damage.
Now, Pikeman/Master Brawler/(enter other elite melee profs here) vs Swordsman, the swordsman does not stand a snowballs chance in hell of winning. I'm sorry, I ran into a master swordsman the other day in the squill caves and I have to say, he just plain sucked. The guy had on armor, but his defense mods are just so crappy that he couldnt even last a few minutes before going down. Without buffs and with my armor on, I was barely taking any damage at all. So your theory about an equally buffed pike vs swords just doesn't hold water.
Once you start to stack the pikemans defenses up there is no way that a swordsman can defeat him. The crapass defense mods make sure of that.

Unfortunately, we only have 10 more melee/ranged defenses and 17 less toughness than the swordsmen. (Our state defenses are better, though) Plus we have block, they have counterattack...so we're both in the same position of having junk defenses. They do get much better offensive capabilities that help to offset, generally, their weak defenses.
