Uhm... Legwand, I think your logic is just a tiny bit flawed:
You said an augmented Master Pikeman would take down a Master Swordsman any day. But that's not really all things being equal, and I do think an augmented Master Swordsman would absolutely destroy an augmented Master Pikeman...

Having been a Master Fencer and starting Pikeman now, I can easily say the fencer grind was much easier and by the looks of it, much more adept at PvE. Not too mention, with the right combinatin of classes Fencer is down right vicious in PvP.

An equally buffed/armored Master Swordsman would pound you into the ground.
All things equal, Swordsman is better at PvE and PvP than a Pikeman.
