They probably buy the single items for the same reason you will not buy bagged items from them. It sounds to me like you're the retarded one if you cannot understand why people will not bagged items off of vendors from people whom they do not know.

Find a clue before you go off labeling people retarded, please.

I think you're the one who needs clue. No established crafter is going to scam people, their reputations won't last five seconds. There's a world of difference between a well known AS selling bagged armor (which is commonly done by almost ALL armorsmiths) and some stranger that no one's ever heard off offering a bag to your vendor without invitation or explanation.

Slim Vargo, Corbantis

And how is a complete stranger who has never even heard your name going to know that you're an "established crafter" who doesn't rip people off? He just spent the past 8 hours running missions to earn 600k credits for a suit of armor and do you think he's going to take a chance on buying a backpack full of melons, or worse, a backpack with a full suit of armor made with the crappiest of resources? No. He's going to play it safe and buy the items that he can actually see the stats on. I would hardly call him retarded, but rather a smart shopper.

Don't be so judgemental with complete stranger, it just makes you sound retarded.

Normally speaking I place stats and colors on pack so u know what ur buying....Ive been on the other side of the coin where it feels like ur playin russian roulette when u buy a travel pack of stuff. And if theres a legitimate problem with items in the pack,I will refund u or make it rite. But No established Armorsmith will even be tempted to scam u, he's tryin to build a business not tryin to diminish a business.

I get a lot of questions and probably half of them have nothing to do with armor. Why this is I have no idea. But I got a tell yesterday from a smith that wanted to buy my cores. (This after I announced on the trade forums that I had perfect recon armor for sale.) I told him he could buy final armor pieces just like everyone and resell them if he wanted to but he wasn't putting his name on my cores.

Best tell I've had so far "I heard you were and armorsmith so can I have some money"

I dont mind being a middleman... they make alot too.

Nothing wrong with selling cores. I sell my perfect advanced cores for 90k each. Just money in my pocket (which *MUCH* less time invested) and he will still have to buy MY cores if you wants to keep up the facade of being a good armorsmith. /shrug

Wow... I can barely buy crappy hide for 20cpu much less completed adv. cores.

Think we got stupid customers because we´re armorsmiths? Think again, this is paraphrased from a post on the WS forum where WS's complain about their customers:

Customer: "Hi!!!"

Me: (Here we go again...)"Hi"

Customer: "so...."

Me: "yes?"

Customer: "You´re a weaponsmith!"

Me: "That´s what the tag says, yes"

Customer: "So can you make me some armor??"

/addignore Customer

My god.. The stupidity..

This is why you don´t see a lot of master weaponsmith tags. And why I never have any Master Crafter or even Smuggler tags hanging over my head.

Well one way is to use common sense (although that does seem in short supply). If the shop is in a prime location like a busy mall in a metropolis size player city or a shop 800m from Coronet, Theed, or MO then it's likely they have a reputation to uphold. A tent in the middle of the desert 1200m from Nyms Stronghold might be a little sketchier (haha couldn't resist that one Slim!)

Anyway, to provide something on-topic: I find out today that a customer has been re-selling my faction suits for a markup... but MINUS the chests because he's bio-linked them. Aaargh. Of course the buyer didn't know it's still pretty hard to get single faction pieces, so it wasn't his fault.

I had a guy that asked me to make him some custom RIS. No biggie, told him I'd charge him x amount for the assembly since he was providing me with 2 of the 3 loots per piece. He whined and moaned so I cut off 100k of the price.

He turns around and auctions said pieces on the forums, then asks for scout trooper armor. I told him hell no.

The other one I hate is completely real, no exaggeration. Person X is a female toon:

X: Hey handsome =)
Me: Uh, hi.
X: What are you up to?
Me: Making armor?
X: That must be so boring
Me: It's what I do.
X: So how much is your armor worth? If it's anything like your looks, I bet it's priceless
(at this point I'm sending tells to my IG wife laughing about it)
Me: Uh, (X amount) for layered (y amount) for unlayered and (z) for factional
X: Wow, that's expensive baby. Can I come to your shop and check it out?
Me: Uh, I'm right in the middle of helping my wife figure out some clothing combinations a I craft.
X: Oh, ok. Nevermind. =( Bye.

I felt really, really dirty. I gave my wifey her name though, so I'm pretty sure person X won't be back.

I also macroed a response now, "I'm marrired to a gorgeous Twi'lek woman."

That would be me.

The guy that grinds and grinds and grinds....

To come up with the billions of credits I have to spend so that I can buy new armor.

Now. Before you get defensive. I love all my armorsmiths.

I couldnt live without them. Literally.

And I dont mind spending the money. Because I know it costs an arm and a leg to make the armor in the first place... or to get the skill to make the armor.

I alsoknow that when we boneheads tell you with questions, it is a bit annoying....

But still.

Someone.

Please.

Help.

Since the CU...

All I can find is bone/padded for battle.... and factional armor.

Is that the whole list?

Am I destined to spend the rest of my life encased in some poor creatures internal skeletal structure?

And now for the serious question.

Im thinking about making my alt an AS. But Im gonna be startin from the ground up.

How expensive is it, to get up to Master?

Any responses would be appreciated.

Thanks guys.

We love you.

Sincerly,

One of your boneheads.

Ahh, the infamous, "Hey, you're an AS right? Can you make me a weapon?"-questions... Too many I have heard in my time as an AS.

I don't live for my customers but I try very hard to live up to my reputation as a good, decent and honorable armorsmith. Very rarely have I ever gone off my hinges and started yelling at a customer. That is never good for business.

Some people though. You just feel like ripping their heads off... Has anyone ever had (Of course you have...) those people who think they deserve a free suit of armor just because they are who they are?... Hurray. Include exceptionally soddy grammar and it usually goes something like this:

Him: Hi, I saw your thread on the trade boards. You make great armor, can I have a suit?

Me: Certainly, there are still plenty on my vendors at the listed locations.

Him: No, I mean can I HAVE a suit? Free.

Me: Ehh... Why?

Him: Because I want one.

Me: Err, no. You can pay for it just like everyone else...

Him:*beep* I want a suit! You're like the worst AS ever!!

*10 minutes later*

Him: So can I have a suit?

Me: ...Guess...

Him: *Various insults and comments of a less than courtious degree*

Me: Why don't you try doing some missions and getting the money to buy a suit?

Him: *beep* that, I just wanted a suit you *beep*. *beep* you, you *beep*

/The end.

When you have customers you will always have the 'special' ones

Bear in mind they are in a minorty, as you only notice the stupid ones too hehe.

I've had several funny encounters recently, including one guy that wanted to by a Scout Trooper suit and accidently bought a Shock Trooper. I immediately bought the suit back from him for what he paid, so he went to vendor and bought yet another Shock Trooper suit!!

The "buying individual pieces when there are full suits on the vendor" thing is also very common. My individual pieces are always very slightly more expensive than they are in packs too, but people still do it. Even start buying individual pieces before they have checked if they can get a full suit, find they can't and then offer them back only to buy a full suit.

Oh and don't get me started on people that think I might want to buy their old, 90% decayed armour for 10k per piece...

My solution for single factional pieces is to price them accordingly.... 750k for a capped 4 socket imp chestplate (any flavor) 400k for same chestplate with zero sockets. (i actually get more 3-4 socket than 0-2, hehe) or they can take their chances and buy a full random suit for 1.5m

Im now charging a 25% restock fee, individual items only, with few exceptions. if you cant read the great big "[ASSAULT]" at the begining of the bags title you have problems.

I charge a 50% deposit for custom orders from people who I dont know... unless its ris.... if they dont pay i can always sell a RIS suit made from scales I didnt collect lol.

Due to the amount of armor im making ( large for me ) i have 13 factories running non-stop, i find myself making armor fast as my factories provide the parts, i wrote out a long e-mail stating stats and that thier values may decrease , prices, armor types and whos certified , what factional armor requires ( bio-linking and the faction cost process ) and that due to high demand at this time it may be a few days for thier order, everytime i get a tell from someone i dont know "hi" , i forward them this e-mail, but STILL i find myself getting the "dude i NEED ARMOR mines almost dead" tells 3 times a day starting as soon as i log in, i also get a few ppl asking me everyday to health enhance thier suits , they dont understand that it takes 7+ indivudual factory runs and hrs extra, and no if they buy two suits it does not make me wanna do it more lol thats even worse!

Ive been nice as i can , but when i get tells all day long from the same guy for 2 days spending hrs telling him what colors each piece of maurader can have , then making his armor putting it on my vendor then having him /t me saying cancel that order, NO i am not gonna take another order from you lol.

Sadly i took all master tags down from my character, i might be wrong but i truelly believe ppl search for master crafters , merchants and other pros to beg for creds and items "begging" is a profession on ahazi.
