Two monthswith very little grinding.
Started by doing custom orders for a week in Bestine. The Administrator Robe sold great when I shouted, "Maul Robes available". Thenran a small shop near Moenia called Blood Moon Clothing, for about a month and a half. Loaded up a vendor and headed for the cantina. I had the bright idea to find a few local entertainers and gave them full sets of free clothes with the understanding that they would promote the shop. This worked great especially when some of them went on to be somewhat famous and travelled around wearing Blood Moon clothes. Then on a visit to Stry'ker Weapons he asked me to stock his clothing vendor and anyone from Eclipse knows it wasn't long before him and everyone heemployed were rich. I was picked up by the Wookiee Council to be THE tailor and couldn't refuse. Been a happy wookiee ever since.
By the way come check out my shop everyone!. Over 200 clothing items on display for you to examine, and over 600 items in the vendor as of today.

Mastering Tailor took me about five months. I played and grinded, play and grinded... played and grinded - no macros.

About 3 weeks. Did not start out grinding, but people kept on asking for colors that I did not have and items i could not make. I still think you don't have to be a master to be able to sell stuff. I started selling backpacks. People would buy them in bunches to hold stuff in their houses. I still sell lots of muscle shirts, cloaks, Spec-op dusters, and other non-master items. Just nice having all the color choices of a master. Also I sell tons of synth crates and rfp crates. Make more money from that because some guy wants to grind armorsmith.

3 Months...Why? Because I started tailoring when this game first came out. There were NO harvesters to harvest with, NO stacks of resources to buy, NO credits even to buy the harvesters & resources with. The economy was just starting out, and although we all wanted to level in our professions, we had to be patient and wait for everyone else to advance so that we could all grow together.
When architects first started crafting harvesters at a rate 2, resources were quite scarce and hard to get lots of - so they were sampled by hand, YES, by hand! Credits came in slowly from doing missions...lol...credits did not flow as freely as they do now.
Nowadays, if I had to do it over again w/all that I have acquired, all the uber harvesters that I now own, fusion power to keep them going, accumulated 100K's of stacked resources in my bank and credits to spend on all of this grinding silliness in the first place - I could grind it quickly in a heartbeat.
Y'all that are doing it now have it so good *sigh* too good if you ask me...

If memory serves, about two months of off and on manual grinding. This was back at launch, so I relied pretty heavily on buildmats to hook me up with resources.

Hey all, happy thanksgiving. I have just finally mastered my combat prof (swordsman), and Im about to start the big grind of coverting all my xp to FS xp now. Id just like to know how long it took others to reach wherever they are. For those who have gotten to the exit quest, how long did it take you once you started the big grind?

If everything goes normal without free unlocks and you put in the factor of each phase lasting approx. 3 weeks and you needing to unlock 6 branches and complete them....
6 months maybe less.

Well, first of all welcome to a rewarding/frustrating/annoying/rich/poor/etc profession.
Secondly, I started with a few k of resources for the initial grind up to Chitin and Experimentation1, and from there pretty much made armour all the time, hunting and prospecting for the next batch, selling it on the bazaar.
I finally reached Master a couple of weeks ago, nearly 6 months after starting. (I did have an extended break from the game in the middle of that!) But had a lot of fun on the way, and learnt a hell of a lot about crafting.
So anyway - how long it will take? Depends on what you've got supporting you. It'll take time, money and resources whatever you do, but if you do decided to grind up to Master, I would seriously recommend taking some time out occasionally to really craft some pieces and sell them. Not only will it be a taster of what's in store, it'll teach you what your customers want, and how to really craft armour once you get there.
Good Luck!
