I am currently working my way to tailor and am just curious how long it took some of you to master it. I know its probably ina FAQ somewhere but I looked and didn't see it. (I honestly did look)
Any info so I can judge my current pace would be helpful.

Took me about 10 days - it takes about 6 hours of grinding if you use the grinding method in the stickied FAQ.

Bout a week - 13 days of as someone put it "casual grinding".. crank up the hendrix, get on ventrillo/teamspeak and it goes by very quickly

5 months. With no grinding and no macros. Having a vendor to stock and keep stocked helped a lot. And keeping the bazaar filled too. And sitting in a busy cantina doing custom orders on the spot (need crafting droid or very nearby crafting station).

Well I didnt do any of the work other then one line of it, formal wear. I did the whole thing in about an hour standing a few steps away from the Tailor Trainer to hurry up and reach master so I can open a shop.

It took me about 2 months, but I only spent time grinding when I was waiting for shuttles or for my harvesters to load up.

It took me about 3 months as a full-time working tailor. I didn't do any grinding at all until the last 3-4 boxes or so, when I just got so fed up with the inequity of the system that I started grinding grenadier's belts whenever I was done making what I needed to make to sell.
I think we really should make fixing the Tailoring XP system a higher priority than we have; it's poison to new entrants to the profession. Hologrinders can still "master" our profession in a couple days or something, but for the honest working tailor, the XP system is just insanely punitive. I think most of us posting here were crazy enough to put up with it, and/or have forgotten how horrible it was....

It took me a month and a half to get to field 4, no grinding. And then a week to do the rest, grind/craft combo. I was successful too in terms of sales, spent hours a day just crafting item after item. I don't understand why the same amount of time (and, come to think of it, materials)chain-crafting tier-4 items yields about 1/4 of the experience as grinding a novice tailor shirt.

I made master in early August, and I'd been working consistently at it since launch. So, what? Six weeks or so?
That was coming up completely from scratch, financing my efforts from sales (people actually paid novice tailors for clothes back then) and the occasional mission (novice pistoleer--I was hunting gorgs, he he), and working mostly with materials I harvested myself (built my own harvesters from scratch) or got from missions. I did grind when I could, but lack of funds and materials limited how much or fast I could do it. No macroing at all.
