Thread: what stats are important to AS when the CU hits? and if you dont like swg, quit.

yes, I totally agree that tailor doesnt have near the overhead as armorsmith. but find me the richest person from tailoring and the richest person from armorsmithing, and you will see the difference. The guy a few posts ago mentioned how he's hit the BILLION mark a few times. Find me a tailor at that level? Cant be done.
yeah I bet you that guy though made a killing with loot. Not just armor. Take for the example the weaponsmith in my guild. He's one of the ultra rich. WIth some 30+ ADKs and the like by now. And still over 100 mil in the bank. But he's also a die hard loot whore. He's made a good chunk of his cred by looting high end tapes, armor attachments, weapons, weapon components blah blah blah. Pre-slicing all his guns and selling them at the expected markup etc.
So yes while he's made millions off his weapons alone. He's also made a hell of alot more selling high priced attachmetns and other rare loot. There's also alot of armorsmiths (Hell myself included) that have more than one toon. Most of my time I spend crafting. but now and then when I feel like it I hit up some POI or something and loot/grind XP abit. Some times snatch something nifty I turn around and sell for alot of money or keep for my own use.
My poitn at least is, that it takes alot more time, effort, and plain old credits to make money to begin with as an AS. So you can hardly call us greedy for keeping the same or even lower actual proffit margin as the next guy. tell you what i'll even use AUKs as an example. Compared to a full suit of 69 base 80kin/80 elec armor.
For a suit of 80/80 Elec/Kin 69 base armor I'll get say.. 300k. This will represent. At most say.. 150k proffit margin. This will have taken me several days to make not counting resource gathering time. (about 72 hours for a full run of layers, another 72hrs or so for a full run of segmetns, and yet another 72+hr to do a factory run of suit components)
Now lets go look at AUKs. They take me... practically no resources. That at most I pay say 3cpu for.. assumign I dont mine it all at a cost of about .3 CPU or likely less now that i have a ton of no power deeds. Then I do a factory run of 1000 AUKs that takes me 24hrs max to do. So my cost per AUK is say.. 120 credits. I then can easily turn around and sell a crate of 25 for 10,000. ANd it only cost me 3000. That's over double what it cost me to produce.
Now sure if I made nothign but AUKs I'd never get ultra rich because ultimately I'm not making as much per unit overall. But I'd also be spending pratically nothing in comparison in time and money as well. So quite frankly if AS are richer than Tailors There's the damn good reason. That beingAS spend alot more money than Tailors do. And thus get larger returns overall.
Higher risk, higher return. Tailor stock doesnt ever 'get out dated'. for them any hide will do and is allways as good as the next hide. For AS totally different story. STocks get devalued as newer better materials spawn etc. And quite frankly due to the fact that broken armor.. actually breaks. Vs broken clothing... which ammazingly holds togeather through the power of the force and superglue doesnt eveer really break.... means AS also face a higher demand.
It's not that AS dont sympathize with Rangers/Tailors etc that all have their own class problems. Thing is. You gotta worry about your own damn problems before you start worrying overly much about some one -elses- problems. If we AS didnt have the problems facing us in CU that we do. I can bet you we'd be right up there with the rangers at least bitchinga bout some of the negative impacts their facing. Since ultimately it affects US as well. ANd that ultimately drives up our prices too.. which affects everyone who uses armor.

I just became master armorsmith, and was wondering what stats will be important in the CU? I heard OQ and UT.. is that true?
Also, I spent a lot of time as a master tailor before this, and master tailors do not make a lot of money. Fewer people seem to be using BE clothing. The highest-priced item a tailor can make doesn't even come close to the highest-priced item any other crafter can make. (yes I realize that tailors can use pretty much ANY quality resource, but even so...)
For some BE clothing, I could charge MAYBE 20k, and that was stretching it. How much for the highest priced armorsmith items? 300k? more? architect? 250k? weaponsmith? into the millions?. I stuck with tailor for a long time, because I enjoyed it, not because I was in it for the creds. If you are only doing AS for creds, yes, the CU might suck for you, but if you are doing it because you enjoy armorsmithing, chances are, you will still enjoy it.
I'm tired of hearing so many people whine and cry about how much the CU will ruin things. If it's so bad, leave. Stop whining and leave. I grinded out armorsmith because I enjoy crafting and wanted to try a crafting prof I've never done before. I wanted to be an AS by the time CU hit, because there will be lots of new armor changes, and instead of 99.9% of the servers wearing comp armor, there will actually be a variety now, by the looks of it. So maybe the market can open up for once, instead of the market being dominated by 12 point comp armorsmiths. There will be demand for all sorts of armor now. It seems to me like most of the people complaining are the 12 point armorsmiths who have dominated the market and made 10's of millions of creds.
Boo-hoo, so you may havesome competitionnow since everyone wont be wearing your comp armor. You have been one of the (if not the most) profitable professions in the game. I'm shedding a tear.
Wow. I myself used to be a hardnosed armorsmith from about the launch of shadowfire for about 9months, after that a guildmate grabbed my stuff(Ichigo for you shadowfire people) bumped himself from 11 to a 12pointer and made some nice armor, after he quit, I picked it up, guild only stuff(and mind you I am in a guild of less than 15people) becausefrankly credits aren't my thing anymore, all I care about is making some cool armor to my specialization and it works wonders.
But you go on here bashing, believe me I have high respect for people Like Elood, Jettli, Phozen and a few others on Shadowfire that mass produce great stuff for a very long time, all of them on each and every server that supplies armor for many many months and is great at their trade shouldn't be bashed, told they are money hungry etc. Now imagine all this people are still whipping up armor all the time, and bam, now we have to hand craft. I used to hand craft in November 03' I was selling sets of Ubese about 10-15a day and composite wasn't the biggest thing, so only about 10sets(and I hand crafted different colors) Guess what, I stopped custom orders about a month into this, it was a pain. Now imagine that demand x10 and about 3x as many smiths. That is the problem, you think all the mass producers spend hours a day doing it? No they don't they have been doing it so long some of them probably takes them less thantwo hours of "work" to craft, run factories, slice and list. Now you are telling me most people are going to want to hand craft?
Second, obviously you don't know jack crap about armorsmith if all it is dominated by 12pointers, I have my little leftovers from my personal stuff that I make that I toss on a super cheap vendor unsliced, 80kin/58base, stuff that is about as light as I can possibly get with my stuff(like 20/20/164helm stats) and I have a couple of peeps that have been popping in once every week or so to snag a couple pieces(mind you this stuff is only 10-12k a piece) So is it because I'm cracking out stuff that is about 15ham a bar lighter because I'm a 12pointer, or is it because I don't give a crap about credits and make and sell what I want?
Go back to tailoring, armorsmiths are a competitive bunch, if you want to keep up with the big boys, put up or shutup, don't come on here telling people that maybe new players can step up, they always have been able to, its just they don't want to put in the work.

Hahaha, yeah, I was just about to post a reply, but it got too long...
The original poster just has no idea about what's going on, so I think everyone's trying to educate him.

Certain resources that people have spent a fortune to stock are now crap.
There are many smiths (rich and poor) who have millions of top quality resources (soon to be crap stuff) stocked.
No smith can make different armor than their neighbor smith.
No more separate experimentation on HAM costs, Base, Specials anymore.
Everyone is stuck with just one option.
A 10 point smith will be able to make the same stuff as a 12 point, because again, it a one-bar thing and you can't experiment more than 10 points per item to begin with.

Firstly, I am not a noob, I have been playing for over a year, secondly, I do not have problems making creds, since I have a combat toon that makes plenty from looting and auctioning things. I craft because I enjoy crafting, whether anyone buys what I make or not.Do you know what will stop you from being a great comp armorsmith? nothing. You can still be a good armorsmith, just unfortunatley for you, only 3 profs will be able to wear your comp armor. Is it bad that a lot of your previously used resources might not be useful in the AS prof anymore? yes, it may seem unfair, but whining about it wont do anything. The changes have been known about for a while, so use up your resources making and selling your armor before the CU hits.again, boo-hoo.
wow!
and i thought tailors had class!!!!
Dude you have got to be THE rudest person i have ever seen post on the boards!! You are poking a stick at another professions gaping wounds, and then laughing in there face when they snarle back at you!!
You are the new kid on the block, respect your elders!!! If i was an AS id slap a Composite glove accross your face!!!!!!
