Thread: what stats are important to AS when the CU hits? and if you dont like swg, quit.

I just became master armorsmith, and was wondering what stats will be important in the CU? I heard OQ and UT.. is that true?

Also, I spent a lot of time as a master tailor before this, and master tailors do not make a lot of money. Fewer people seem to be using BE clothing. The highest-priced item a tailor can make doesn't even come close to the highest-priced item any other crafter can make. (yes I realize that tailors can use pretty much ANY quality resource, but even so...)

For some BE clothing, I could charge MAYBE 20k, and that was stretching it. How much for the highest priced armorsmith items? 300k? more? architect? 250k? weaponsmith? into the millions?. I stuck with tailor for a long time, because I enjoyed it, not because I was in it for the creds. If you are only doing AS for creds, yes, the CU might suck for you, but if you are doing it because you enjoy armorsmithing, chances are, you will still enjoy it.

I'm tired of hearing so many people whine and cry about how much the CU will ruin things. If it's so bad, leave. Stop whining and leave. I grinded out armorsmith because I enjoy crafting and wanted to try a crafting prof I've never done before. I wanted to be an AS by the time CU hit, because there will be lots of new armor changes, and instead of 99.9% of the servers wearing comp armor, there will actually be a variety now, by the looks of it. So maybe the market can open up for once, instead of the market being dominated by 12 point comp armorsmiths. There will be demand for all sorts of armor now. It seems to me like most of the people complaining are the 12 point armorsmiths who have dominated the market and made 10's of millions of creds.

Boo-hoo, so you may havesome competitionnow since everyone wont be wearing your comp armor. You have been one of the (if not the most) profitable professions in the game. I'm shedding a tear.

You're the new kid on the block telling everyone of us who has senority to shut up and get the hell out? Sorry but i don't think anyone in here is going to take you seriously. I also fail to see why you felt the need to post this atrocity. You state you were a long time tailor, you also said tailors can't make much money, you then go on to give prices on other crafters items, and yet you post something about not doing anything for money blah blah blah. Sounds like a load of crap to me. Why else make any mention of credits if that was not atleast part of your intention for coming over to AS? None, you tried to veil an attack on our integrity by saying we're greedy and that if we are in it for the money then we should quit. Yet i once again reiterate you are the one who brings up credits.

Most of us are in this for several reasons. Those being any combination of credits, joy of crafting, running a business, support guilds/alts, etc.... If you craft for the love of crafting there are several other professions you could've chosen. You being someone who has made 0 investment in the profession how can you expect to understand the magnitude of our loss? Some of us are losing tens of millions in resources and you ask us to shut up and deal. You're a real peice of work.

Just like the other guy said....your the new kid on the block. With that being said i have this to say.......

Because you are the new kid on the block......you have NO IDEA why we are pissed off at this. We all have spent almost two years....collecting the same resources for armor. TWO YEARS MORON. THats enouch to piss anyone off. About 200mil in resources that i ahve that i have collected that are now worthless in the new system. Thats what we are pissed off about.

You sir have no idea. Im sure every armorsmith here welcomes new faces. Competition? Hell man.....that doesnt bother me. I ahve seem smiths come and go. I have seen you come....and ill see you go......get over yourself man....your not anything new.

I'd say 95% of people posting in here do AS for the love of crafting, credits is just an added bonus.

Getting 12 points, we didn't get them so we could dominate the market. We want to be the best and have our names recognized as being an amazing crafter.

You go ahead and keep your holier than thou attitude and provide armor for 50k post CU. You know what will happen? Attack of the Resellers. The real kicker is that they will be making 10x what you are for doing absolutely nothing.

I wish there was an emoticon of someone playing a violin.

I'm crying, I'm so hurt.

I brought up creds because it looks like the richest people in the game seem mad that they are going to lose a lot of business, they are all threatening to quit, so shut up and quit already. Firstly, I am not a noob, I have been playing for over a year, secondly, I do not have problems making creds, since I have a combat toon that makes plenty from looting and auctioning things. I craft because I enjoy crafting, whether anyone buys what I make or not.

Do you know what will stop you from being a great comp armorsmith? nothing. You can still be a good armorsmith, just unfortunatley for you, only 3 profs will be able to wear your comp armor.

Is it bad that a lot of your previously used resources might not be useful in the AS prof anymore? yes, it may seem unfair, but whining about it wont do anything. The changes have been known about for a while, so use up your resources making and selling your armor before the CU hits.

again, boo-hoo.

Just another young grasshopper that knows nothing.

Not worth the time.

Like i said.....i have seen them come, and seen them go.......you'll be gone soon with that attitude.

You have already failed at the first thing that it takes to be a successful armorsmith.....and thats having cooth, and being respectful. All your doing is pissing off the mainstays.....not a good thing to do, as they can also ruin you.

Be glad your not on Intrepid. You wouldnt last a week.

You have not been in buisness long enough my friend...

I am one of the (if not the) most wealthy people/person on Intrepid... I have bounced off the 1 bill mark 3-4 times now (i lost count after 2) I am not complaining about losing buisness...

no... Im peeved about the millions I spent in rare reaources that I'll have to turn around and resell for 1-3 CPU when I spent 20-100+CPU for... This is profit margin loss, Margin loss such as this would bankrupt a fortune 500 company in RL.

You go out and try spending.. lets say 100 million credits (round number) only to resell it for 25 mill?

.25-1 loss... for every 100 mill I have invested Im going to LOSE 75 mill of it...
If you were a smith long enough to "Stockpile" resources like some of the other 1+year smiths in this game you too would feel a sence of loss like what we speak of.

I have been a 12 point AS since november 03, a master since august 03...Consider me a old fart complaining about my lost social security...

Um, most of us are complaining because we are going to be forced to raise prices. lol. We are complaining about exactly the opposite.

Yes you could be a good Armorsmith, but who wants to be just "good"? We all want to be the best. With this new system all armor will be equal.

I wish there was a violin emoticon too. I think you should learn how to read to bro, i have YET to read one thread where an Armorsmith is complaining that they won't make a lot after the CU.

Oh, maybe there is some way you can make people not buy from me. oh, I almost forgot, in my last post I made the point of saying I enjoy crafting whether people buy from me or not.I'm also independant. hmm please, how can I be ruined?

As someone who isn't an AS and doesn't profess to understand what you guys are suffering with the CU I can see a hint of truth in what most people have said, even the first guy despite his harsh tone! I'm a fairly new player, having logged a mere 55 days but feel fairly well grounded in SWG now to understand that losing credits due to resources being nerfed is enough to irritate and annoy most people. As a Master Smuggler I am bugged about not being able to sell Stormtrooper Armour (particularly as its my biggest seller!).

But I do feel that there is a lot of negativity about the CU and I feel that its mostly because the change is so radical. No one likes change but maybe its worth looking at the changes as another chance to prove that you and not another 12pt AS is the best AS out there. Almost like having to grind and master another prof, you are just emphasising that once a good player, always a good player...

I don't wanna get jumped on for saying this unlike the guy who started this thread, this really is meant as a suggestion and not as a noob trying to tell others how to play. I have a 2nd toon who I'm seriously considering making AS as I feel that they may be winners post CU as Armour will always be in demand. We just won't find 1 set anymore that will suit all occasions. I like to think that unlike some of you who believe you will be forced to make such a huge vaiety of armour, that different AS's will specialise in something from 3 to 6 different types and that is about it, and may just focus on what they feel is their strong seller...just a thought.

And on reading (and re-reading!) the CU and the changes to the combat profs, the changes to AS was almost inevitable. I can't see AS's going out of business despite the nerfing of their resources.

Oh and btw, I am in it soley for the money! As a Master Smuggler at heart, of course I am! My 2nd toon is only there as a Merchant to support my smuggling...and I figured what the hell I may as well go for a crafting prof to help out my Guild! Nothing wrong with being in it soley for the money! I'm a business man plain and simple!
