Not any really bad custom yet but several conversations that goes like this:

Cust: Hi
Me: Hi
Cust: Are you an armorsmith? (or similar, can you make armor? etc).
Me: Yes I am/can.

and then nothing.. never hear from the person again. Happend 4 times in the last 2 weeks now.

Lyssa

Level 89 Crazy Person

You can nerf my armor, add in 46 new resources, and 12 new steps ... it only makes me stronger. This is how I level.

Eep!

Excuse me while I run from this nuna....

I usually wear my master armorsmith tag all the time.. And I am also always in a group of three, all wearing full RIS.... and once a day I am asked the question "can you make armor?"

i am always tempted to answer with, "can you ask a stupid question?"

Still I have to say the absolute worst thing they can do is criticize the price. I am selling armor built with my best unlayered cores and excellent condition at 200k per suit for all types, even the wookiee and ithorian stuff.. all custom made.I just really cant go any lower. The same guy that offered me a barc speeder for 5 million credits, balked at 200k for a suit or marauder in 4 colors.I really think most people have no idea what time goes in to making the stuff... and what the expense is if you have to buy resources. I generally harvest all my own, but since the CU, a lot of us in need of new named resources that are currently a terrible spawn.

Someone mentioned being asked to make armor on the spot.. thats how i sell most of mine. I work exclusively to order... I carry some cores, and afew crates of each on the clothsaround and have the resources to make the most popular armors on me, with my R3 in tow.

The most recent thing that I have had to hear about since the cu is.. a few days after i sell someone a suit of armor, they are sending me a tel crying that its already almost decayed. With the dumbed down experimentation, and easy resources in the appearance, we are all sending armor out the door with the best condition possible. My suggestion to theses guysis generally "try to die less".

well here's one:

Customer (dubbed "C"): Hello can you make armor"

Me: Yup that's what my title says.

C: can you make Factional armor?

Me: yup only imperial though.

C: do you have some?

Me: all 3 types

C: can you make scout armor?

Me: well I said I can make all 3 types out imperial armor so yes.

C: how much for a full set.

Me: well about 1.3 million credits, you normally have to spend 1.5 million to get a full set.

C: HOLY $HIT!!!! I was expecting 100k for a full set.

How about the people who contact you asking to buy their old used armor.

Customer: Hey. I have some armor here, almost brand new. Wanna buy it?

Me: I have no use for damaged armor.

Customer: But you can sell it. Make money off it.

Me: No, I can't. Especially off someone elses armor.

Customer: You could always say you made it.

Me: ...No, I can't. There's a tag if you examine it that says who made it.

Customer: Well you can just say you made it anyway, cmon. Wanna buy it? It's good ((Of course meaning poorer than anything I can make)).

Me: I do not sell used armor. I am not a junk shop.

Customer: If you bought it would I get a discount or something?

Me: But I'm not going to buy it so that's a pretty mute point.

Customer: Yeah but you know, if you did?

Me: But I'm not going to...

*Pause*

Customer: So are you gonna buy it from me?

Me: ...Guess... No, I'm not going to buy armor that was not made by me, is damaged, unsellable, and would ruin my reputation.

Customer: Why?

So at this point you're thinking, "GOD! Put an IQ test inas a prequisite for mutliplayer games!"

Me: See above.

And that keep going untill he finally gets that you won't buy it from him, and then he's all disspointed. Gee, I feel bad for him...

LOL, Ok, yeah, this is a great thread, and i get questions like this all the time.

The Top Ten instances where customers ask why armor is so expensive.

10.) We spend our time making it, while we have a force sensative Alt trying to grind.

9.) Since most of us are kind hearted to our guild, and give the guild mates free sets of armor, we have to compensate.

8.) We just don't get the good resource drops. (AHH!! DANTOOINE WOOLY, WHERE ARE YOU?!?)

7.) We are conservative in our resource collection.

6.) We like money too...

5.) Ever go to your Factory where people have dropped missions of aggro creatures that were too low lvl for them, but as we are CL 1 we'll die in one hit? (with our RIS components that we just BOUGHT for 2 mill a pop because you just WANT a set with your name on it.)
4.) Factories cost Money and Energy. Have your clients drop harvies and pay for them if they want cheaper armor.

3.) You deal with noobs on a regular basis, I know why we get charged extra when we hit an Imp NPC

2.) Who here delights in making armor that's 100 Kin/ene and expect a good feedback?

1.) Us armorsmiths do not have a life other than making people armor NOW! Despite having in your Bio "Please send emails if you would like a Custom Order. We'll get to it when we can." (This applies more to guild mates that you constantly tell, please send email, please send email, we cannot remember what you want, SEND EMAIL DAMMIT!)

lol. yeah, I see our own Made for TV movie. "The Day in the Life of an SWG Armorsmith." And the CSR's think they had it rough!. lol, j/k guys.
