Thread: Plea to the devs: Lack of resources ruining fun.

Does anyone else get really annoyed when new AS have their panties in a bunch because they can't make the best composite right away? Took me 3 weeks to finally get resources to make Composite back in August, then I got to make my awesome 34% Advanced suitsIt just takes time to get the resources and then you can make Advanced Comp and Ubese, etc...
Yes, I do. I am getting tired of all the new armorsmiths that want to become master in a day and then want the ultimate recipe for the best armor posted here and then start complaining about the best resources not spawning fast enough.

I know your frustration but patience is the key. I started a second account/char because I liked artisan so much during the holo grind. I poured a lot of time, resources, and money into this second char getting him to master armorsmith and like you got very frustrated because I couldn't make anything, had no decent resources, and was poutting too much money into harvesters and resources trying to gather stuff for every kind of armor. It finally dawned on me I was trying to do too much, with too little, too fast. So I decided to keep an eye out for decent resource spawns (maybe not the best - www.swgcraft.com is an excellent place to look) and concentrate on something that is in realitivly high demand and easy to make - wookiee armor. Wood from Endor and Yavian Leathery hide is as exotic as it gets and is always there (maybe not great, but there). THen stared making it and selling it giving me some cash flow where I could buy more harvesters, got better spawns and then started to make some Ubese. I am now about ready to make some decent Composite as well. Don't be greedy - it sells faster/better that way and consider a guild if your not already in one. Good luck!
If you think we have it rough, you should take a look at all the named resources needed for weaponsmith.
I must be a glutton for punishment....
Master WS and AS, my homepage is SWGcraft and my life is harvesters.

Welcome to MAS. Your going to need to try a little harder now.

Where you been the past couple of days? I finally hit 70% base on my kinetic comp, but only have enough polymer for one run of 3000 segments. I was going to bug you for some more ![]()

ROFL. All of us are in the same boat, my friend. You just have more resources to track down!

Well, I've been a master armoursmith for 5 weeks now. I have yet to make any advanced ubese, or any kind of composite armour whatsoever. Why not? lack of desire? no. lack of skill? no. lack of tools? no. too lazy to go look for resources? no. physical lack of resources? yes.
This is a game, games are about fun. I don't mind shortages of resources, most of us would consider say, OQ 400 axidite iron to be a lack of resources... but no... 5 weeks without axidite iron spawning at all, 5 weeks (and who knows how long it has been missing) without beryllius copper (which finally spawned a day ago) and many other resources (dolovite ironif you're a doc) have only just started spawning in months.
All I ask is that they look at the code for this and perhaps change it so there is a higher chance of low quality resource spawning, rather than not spawning it at all, because its just plain no fun to not be even able to make low quality items. If they can't do this, at least tell us why we have to go months without critical resources spawning.
Oh and you may want to pay attention to what spawns when and where. According to swgcraft.com axidite iron and beyrrlius copper have been spawning all over the place almost every month on Starsider.

The difference is that things don't sell unless it's the uber-armor. If it's not 80% Kinetic or Stun Composite, no one is interested, no matter the Encumbrance, no matter the price.
On Eclipse (where this guy is located, along with me), I was getting pretty peeved myself. You spend so much time mastering a profession, to not be able to do anything. If you're a weaponsmith and there's a part missing for T-21 Rifles, you can still make Scout Pistols, DX2s, vibro-knucklers, etc. etc.
With armorsmith, you can make some Ubese and sell to some of the better players, but you really gotta work for it, and that's what these guys said they did.
Vertex Crystaline Gemstone hasn't spawned in a long long time. You can't find it on vendors. I saw an auction for it a few days ago and it was 20cpu and it was horrible quality. Beyrllius hasn't spawned for a while.
It's not a matter of making uber-armor right after mastering, it's a matter of making armor at all. It would help if other armors sold (except Composite and Ubese).
Actually, I find that since so many armorsmiths on my server are onlymaking layered composite, that the mid-range market is being somewhat ignored. So, I made a run of a hundred or so unlayered composite suits and threw them on my vendor for 175k a suit (they're packaged in backpacks - all stats listed). They sell quite well.
I do agree that it's frustrating to spend all the time reaching master to not have the required resources...but as someone said, surveying and mining these resources as you're levelling up is highly recommended.

Not sure I agree with this. There is a market for all armor - you may not get top dollar for it, and you may not be able to slap it on a vendor and have it sell itself, but it's there.
Don't try to tell me it's not - I was a 8-point non-master armorsmith for a long time. I sold plenty of 65%-70% kinetic Ubese, took orders for custom colored padded suits at 100K a pop, and moved a good bit of 60%-62% kinetic chitin. I stayed plenty busy, and mastered armorsmith in a more natural manner than the grinders. I managed a good and enjoyable living for a long time without making a single piece of composite.
What so many of the lesser masters' complaints sounds like to many of us who have worked long and hard to get and maintain stocks of the best resources around is that the newer masters want to get that last box and be on a level playing field with us. All I can say to that is tough.

I was thinking about this as well. I noticed I have large stocks of the second best of every resource required for advanced comp, except for wooly and intrusive, which are in shift with good stats. I may just make some unlayered advanced comp out of them and sell them off at around 100K a set.
Could be fun to squeeze the middle of the market while still cranking out high-end stuff with the best resources the server has ever seen. Frankly, I think Shadowfire has a huge glut of mid-level MAS's, and it may be time to get dirty and try to thin out the ranks a bit before they catch up

A savy business man with his finger on the pulse of his respective market, indeed.
As the old saying goes...
"It'sa long, hardto climbto the top, but it's even harder to stay there."
/applaudyour tactics on how to maintain your current status on your server. Competition is never a good thing. Well, I guss that depends which side of the fence you're on! ![]()

Heh..this is a feeling I know. 2 accounts, Master Weaponsmith/Architect/Artisan, second Master Armorsmith/Chef/Tailor. I look at SWGCRAFT 10-15 times a day, hoping to spot something I need
