Thread: Interwoven R.I.S Armor
Here is a screenshot of the R.I.S. Helmet I had done up today:
http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=44302
It got a 31% encumberance slice unfortunately... but it's far and away the best one I've ever seen.
This is not the Interwoven version.

My helmet was made yesterday and only has stun vulnerability.
It is not the Interwoven RIS.
Dethcon,
Send me an in game e-mail, Leko. I would love to try out this new armor. If it works out well, I will sell the stuff to you at cost.
Leko
I'm pretty certain your armorsmith used a Krayt Scale enhancer which is why Heat, Cold, and Acid (along with Blast and Energy) were moved out of vulnerabilities and up into special protection.

i can say definately that heat and cold are no longer vulnerabilities or bugs. i made an interwoven helm with a 6%NS layer and 2 kinetic layers. is was vuln only to stun and acid. special protection was only kinetic (65%), an i managed to experement all other stats up to 77% unsliced.

Er, that cut off on me...
If only the Acid resists higher and the Kinetic was bumped up a notch this would own a composite helmet simply because of the encumberance, which wasn't very high to begin with.
Anyone seen one better than this?
That is pretty good. The low acid and the stun vulnerability would still hurt you though, especially in PvP. The stun might not be that big of deal though, depending on your server. (On starsider we have the resourses to get up to around 40% Stun in composite armor, which starts to make a big difference.)
What did you use to get Acid up into special protections? Did you use a Sharnaff plate or a Krayt scale? If it was a Krayt scale, I'd guess that means the new best formula for RIS would be to go Krayt scale with 3 acid layers and then just live with it having the Stun vulnerability. Wouldn't be too big of deal for a non-helmet piece, since the only place Stun damage really massacres you in PvP is head shots from the Jawa Ion. But then again, the Helm seems to be the RIS piece most people want.

i'm sorry for the newb post, but i have some questions about this interwoven RIS armor. I'm not an armorsmith so i'm not sure exactly what this new interwoven stuff does, but i've been collecting the Drops enoughto make a full suit w/ the exception of the GDK scale (btw has the drop rate been fixed?). So i have some questions:
Is interwoven a substitue for the original RIS (in other words for those who didn't collect all the pieces)
Interwoven is a replacement for the normal RIS schematic. All four of the normal loot drop items, including the GDK scale are still required during the course of crafting one piece of RIS. The new interwoven segment can takethree layers instead of two, plus it requires a Geonosian power cube. The only other change in the schematic is that it uses Yavinian Animal Bones in place of Rori Fiberplast.
Is RIS even worth the trouble, yes i do plan on using it in combat, so 80% range unsliced on most stats is important to me.
If you fight buffed and all you care about is stats, then Composite still beats RIS hands down. RIS does have lower encumbrance, but its still high enough that most serious combatants would be inclined to get buffs, essentially negating RIS's only real advantage. For PvP you're not going to be able to get Acid above 40-50% in RIS. (And if you do push Acid up that high, you'll have to leave Stun as a vunlerability.) If instead of pushing acid up you decide to go for Stun protection, you'll be stuck with at best Acid of 5-10%. Kinetic is also going to be hard to get up to 80%. A little below 60% seems to be the best that most people are able to get. And finally, at a minimum, Acid, Heat, Cold, Kinetic, and possibly Stun are all going to be special protections, meaning that you can't slice any of them.
What geo cubes (color/stats) are used in making this new interwoven RIS and are their anymore drops?
The geo cubes drop in a variety of colors. I don't think the interwoven RIS segment requires a specific color, but I might be mistaken. Some cubes don't have any stats, some lower encumbrance, and some raise resists. If you're going for high resist RIS you'd want to make sure you use one of the geo cubes that boost resistance.
I didn't make some of the peices because i heard it was being fixed and could be made better, so does anyone know if the stat shifting bug has been fixed?
The stat shifting bug is now gone for RIS, but its new incarnation isn't much better. When you craft RIS now it always comes out with Heat, Cold, Acid, and Stun as vulnerabilities. Heat and Cold seem to be bugged vulnerabilities, since if you push them up into Special Protection they'll experiment up quite high when you experiment on the base resists. (The same way Electricity works in composite.) Acid and Stun however cannot be experimented up, and their final resists will depend entirely on the layers and/or enhancer you use in the segment. Also note that RIS's defualt special protection, Kinetic, does NOT get raised when you experiment on the base resists the way that Electricity does in composite. As a consequence its very hard to get Kinetic up to the same levels as you can for the Base.
For RIS to be a vialbe competitor to composite it needs to have a most ONE vulnerability, and its special protection needs to experiment up the same way that composite's special protection does.

Interesting. That means that at least something with RIS was patched recently. If only we could get through to the Devs that giving RIS two vulnerabilites is a huge mistake. Its too bad there's nota loot enhancer that boosts just Acid and Kinetic. I've been looking through all the possible combinations of enhancers and layers, and barring the use of some Expceptional or Legendary layers or enhancers, I just can't come up with any way to get a piece of RIS armor that's comprable to Composite, i.e., 65-80% to all resists except for one at 35-40%.
On the helmet resists... It seems that the armor is only vuln to Acid and Stun now. If anything else was originally vulnerable on it, it would have had extremely low % just like the Acid. I would recommend using two 4% base Stun layers in the helmets so you can get stun outa the vuln section, get a decent %, and just depend on the Krayt to take care of the Acid for you. The HAM will be a little more, but it will still be very low.
(yes I am a 12 pointer)
that's one way to go...i would recommend finding an 8% or higher NS layer (shouldn't be half as difficult to find as the gdk scales) and use the interwoven schematic to add in 1 stun layer experemented for special (so roughly 12%), and 1 acid experemented for special (again, 12-14%). iwould also toss in a janta hide and a nice cube. that should get base stats up well into the 70s after experementing on quality. the leftover points i would toss into kinetic.
it wouldn't be perfect, but the result would be 55%-ish + kinetic, 12% stun, 14% acid with mid 70s on all other stats unsliced with ham quite a bit lower than comp and no vulnerabilities. an effectiveness slice puts it at 90% base which makes the armor incredible against t21s, repub blasters, fwgs. whenever you see a jawa, scatter, dx, or new acid rifle...you'd have to change armor or rely on a new prototype PSG shifted to cover acid and stun protections.
like i said originally, the change to RIS is a step in the right direction...but the acid vulnerability is still brutal. if it was cold or maybe even electricity, we would have reason to be excited. but acid is just too important.

Thank you Imaridrilfor your reply, i think i might start it now, i have servearl nightsister shards/layers and krayt scales i could use in the process. I'll take them to a good armorsmith on Corbantis and see how it turns out, thanks a lot!

I looted the schematic for this interwoven and am selling it on TEMPEST here the link
