Thread: What will it take to get you to go to the Deathwatch Bunker?
I will go for my guild mates for free... Provided they have enough parts to make the trip worth wild.... I will not go down there just for 1 Helmet... it will have to be worth it..
Non Guild members/friends I dont know what I would charge other people for my time down in the bunker... But it will be costly!!
Considering they will have to get my hide down there and keep me alive long enough to get the armor done...

And to the guy that asked define a loyal customer? How about this. The guy that put the millions that you have in your pocket. Seems some people are ignoring the fact thaat you can be a 12 point RIS cert'd smith and craft the most gorgeous composite in the game, but if no one buys the stuff, you are NOTHING. Your customers make you what you are, and if you lose sight of that, you've lost sight of being a crafter/merchant.

Jessi,
I'm just a novice armorsmith. There are folks I know already whom I would do that for no cost when I hit master. Which shouldn't be long if I can just stop doing artisan stuff and grind out AS. I've got most of the materials or will soon.
But those folks aren't just people who randomly buy stuff from me. Because I don't keep track of everyone who's bought stuff so far. That would be difficult. And the point of most merchant type activity is that some folks would rather just go kill things than have two accounts with one a crafter. Or there may be folks who are just crafters but I kind of doubt there are many of those.
Right now, I still don't have many credits...so an offer of 500k for an hour would get my attention. But as you know master armorsmiths make lots of credits. If I already have 50M credits, what will it take me to go down in the bunker more than once for folks who aren't close friends? Probably a lot.
Here's what you might consider doing...get some materials the AS needs to make composite. Ask him/her what their material needs are and offer to meet those needs with your other friends who own materials. Most of the master ASs I know who don't have a glut of materials would give their toon's right arm for the right "wooly hides" or other special materials. And of course skill tapes are needed. And charged entirely too much for because of the assumption that the AS is rich. Which some of them are.
I think you're asking too much of an AS whom you happen to buy things from on occasion to spend an hour going down into that bunker for not many credits. That AS tried to meet your needs for a price you found acceptable. You paid credits for what you thought they were worth. Surely you didn't pay 300K over the going price such that you think you "gave" the AS money!
Whether a person is "something" or "nothing" isn't determined by whether people want to buy their products in a MMORPG. Get real, Jessi.
The point isn't whether I'll go or not. I'm going. I enjoy fighting and exploring new places. If you notice the sig, I'm perfectly capable of standing ground in most PvE situations. I regularly hunt solo to collect loot for RIS. Kimos pose no threat, as long as my buffs hold out. I will probably be there solo, if there is any loot I'm interested in. In that case, I'd also be happy to join a group...whether I know them or not.
The point I was making. Most decent armor smiths have dozens (lets round it to 50...some more, some less) of "loyal" customers. By your response, I'm guessing your definition of "loyal" is the guy who only goes to one place to buy armor. Personally, I like tohave customers like that. I'm also more inclined to give them a break on prices.
To suggest that I should feel obligated to join every group of people that buy my armor...is rediculous.
As for the second set of "loyal" customers. They always have my attention. Unless I'm right in the middle of something that can't wait, I go and help them out. They frequently find nice loot enhanced or high% sliced armor pieces in their trade window. Most no longer pay for armor. Or if they do, it's an unexpected tip.
Go Masselin...
Jassie I dunno if your an AS or not, but from the sound of it ima gonna say no. Im not sure you realize just how expensive, and time consuming AS really is... I was a master architect for a while and with that crafting profession all I had to do was make a run of 2-3 different components most of which did not need to be experimented (or required high quality materials...) and in 1-2 days I had 50-100 BER 10 Medium Mineral Harvestors... I did almost no stinkin work in that profession... (not to bag on Archies)
now contrary to the life of an architect, an armorsmith is completly different, we start off needing to spend around 1mil creditsin resources just to get through the stupid tree, you then have to find the highest quality resources on your server half the time, because ADV. Composite requires high quality, experimented components which take several days to complete (right now im making a run of 1k adv. composite segments, and the kinetic segs alone which go into the adv. segs, have taken over 2 days(im needing to make 3k of them)... I cant even start making the armor till those segs are done...
As far as the resources go, I look on SWGCraft.com to check daily if the spawns have shifted, and if i need to have my guild go gather hide for me, I also have to check vendors around coronet and theed, to see if anyone has placed Obic (the highest quality polymer on bria to have spawned) as well as other extinct spawns of resources... overall it will probably end up taking me a week or so just to make 45 composite suits.... so I value my time its expensive....
To suggest that I should feel obligated to join every group of people that buy my armor...is rediculous.
Who said that? Yes I'm talking about loyal as in I shop exclusively at that smith. Buy sets to set up newbies/friends from him. Refer guildies and new people to our town to him. Email his wp out to people looking for armor every chance I get. Go converse with them from time to time just to talk. And soon when I get some good stocks of resources give them first chance at any resources they could use. Thats a loyal customer. I feel a smith should treat these people right. But even then I wouldn't expect them to do it for free. I'd offer them something for there time and trouble.
To expect a smith to obligate every schmo who has wandered past there shop and picked something up? no, of course not. You'd never have time to do anything else.
Also consider, almost no one is going to use there mando. So your talking about 1 trip for a person, unless you work out a business arrangement with them to sell the stuff. Personally, I'll probably discuss with a few merchants about marketing this stuff. First 2 sets are mine and theres, but after that we split what we get and sell it. Then again, that all depends on how difficult it is to aquire. If I litlerally am going to spend months getting the stuff for one set, I'll just pay some exorborant price to get it crafted and be done with it.
This is a good point, and a good question. I personally don't have a lot of money so I might do it for some credits, but that's beside my point.
In all the other adventure-crafting tie in stuff they have (loot schematics) the generally accepted, and IMHO extremely fair, practice was an exchange of schematic and enough loot items (ie heavy leathers) for two items in exchange for one of the items. This way, in exchange for the investment in time and opportunity costs (via AP) that the crafter is using, as well as for supplying the non-loot materials, the crafter gets a nice little gift, and everyone is happy.
In this case, though, you need three crafters, unless you have an alt that is all three, so is it fair to demand a peice of the armor for your time and effort? Obviously, if we get a piece the other two should get one too. Assuming drop rates in the cave will be higher than what we are seeing with the random spawns on Endor, this actually does seem rather fair to me. You get 9 (or 10)pieces of the most prestigeous (sp?) realistic armor in the game (RIS is not realistic) for the cost of 3 pieces.
I appologize for my horrible spelling and use of parentheticals. I'm rather tired, and don't really care at this point.
Might add up the points on the skills in my sig... I have zero combat skills, so the fun for the expidition will be keeping the fire off of me, so I can live long enough to make the armor for them.
I have a few other friends I might go for, and I"ll hopefuly end up with a helm and chest for display.
but random people asking me to go, just isn't going to happen.
