The post that was removed earlier was removed in error. The moderators received numerous reports on the thread and removed it after reviewing those posts. We are not trying to silence you or I wouldn't have posted at all. I was trying to explain why things happen and will do so again with more detail this time.

Correspondents have rules just as you do on our forums and these need to be upheld. When a correspondent goes against the rules they will be removed just as any of you would be. A correspondent's position is to bring to the Dev team the issues their profession is currently having or foresee. It isnot to rally up the troops and spam in private message tells tothe devs, just to be heard. The correspondents have direct access to our email addresses and to the correspondent forum. Unfortunately there are times when TH and I get very busy and we need to concentrate on the other duties we have. During these timesthe correspondents may nothear anything from us. We do however let them know we are still reading their posts or emails even if we aren't replying and their concerns are being brought to the table.

All of this is outlined in the correspondent forum, the application for being a correspondent and the welcome letter they receive.

Please keep it constructive, any posts that are not constructive will be removed.

Serious question: why would somebody be a correspondent for a community that you've spent a large portion of time either locking their threads, or banning them? how's the new correspondant supposed to communicate w/his ppl if well,.....you've told them 'if you don't say what i like i'll lock your thread! or ban you! haha!'?

...............like i said serious question Tiggs.....

The devs working on combat upgrade can either hit the forums and respond all day to your questions or work on CU. I am sure we are all in agreement with having them bang away at issues and bugs with CU rather then post all day.

actualy i would rather you find a way to fix the current system rather than re[place it with something we do not want.

Tiggs - Not AS correspondent related, but related to the "open communication" theme permeating this thread.

If there are open communications between the Devs and the player base, please provide a reasonable explanation for how the Min Price/ Max Price/ Item Name search filter made it to a live server patch with no prior announcement or discussion, and having never been tested on Test Center?

I tell you what I think - I think you all knew it would be too controversial, and rather than face the storm, just did an "Ostrich" - put the heads in the sand and went behind our backs. That's NOT open communications, that's fear of feedback - never a good thing to have when you are dealing with customers.

*bows to As forum*

The following is an universal post in my eyes. No direct target, simply thoughts. Please take it as that.

Introducing a drastic change into a long standing set system or community creates frustration, confusion, fear, curiousity, and many other feelings.

The parts of the system and/or the members of the community NEED to be reassured about the change, be explained to what the change is and the effects of the change. Concerns and problems NEED to be listened to and addressed then the corrections need to be made shown in the system and mentioned to the community.

Problems and concerns rising with no visible attempt to listen, adress, or show/mention correction creates further frustration, confusion, fear, curiousity, ect.

Here you have SWG, a long standing set system with a long standing community that is still growing. Here we have the CU, a drastic change to the standing system and community. The feelings, frustration/confusion/fear/ect, begin to show themselves. In the eyes of the community and the working of the system, the change is not being explained correctly. The community is not being reassured as it believes it should be. The feelings, frustration/confusion/fear/ect, increases. Concerns and problems surface during the first taste of the new change experienced by the system and the community. The community feels the system will suffer because it believes it is not being listened to, little or nothing is being addressed, and the corrections are not being shown or mentioned.

Here we have the Corrs the Devs use to communicate to the community. Many Corrs tell the community they hear nothing about the concerns and problems. The feelings, frustration/confusion/fear/ect, increase dramatically. At this point the community starts to shut itself down...close itself off from the change because the feelings, frustration/confusion/fear/ect, has taken control and twisted the change into something hateful and painful because the community was not reassured about the change. And soon, without the change, the system and community dies because to grow it needs change and now it fears change too much to embrass it again.

Devs, not trying to bash you. I can imagine the work you have in front of you and I will always try to understand. Corrs are supposed to be the mouthpiece between you, the Devs, and the community. When the Corrs say nothing to reassure the community, the community breaks down and we have more situations like the recent AS Corr issue. In this instance, ignorance is not bliss. It is chaos and pain. If the Corrs are not reassured the community knows it and that doesn't reassure the community, leading to the shutting down and closing off from change.

This post is in no means trying to tell anyone how to do what they do or how to fix what is fast becoming an uncontrolable problem. It is simply a clarification of what is happening in the hopes that the community's actions are better understood and perhaps addressed.

I am part of the community and the system. I don't want either to shut itself off from change and eventually die....

Tiggs very simple, after reading through a list given to you by a correspondent in the CU forum quickly reply with an ACKNOWLEDGED so it is known thatit was read. If your correspondents feel ignored, that is a serious problem and it is a problem you must address in a positive way. This is the wrong way to address a problem that is clearly on your end. Unprofessional behavoir begets unprofessionalism.

Acting professionally is beyond the SOE SWG teams' capabilities. It's obvious they are lacking skill, experience, and maturity, and they continue to stumble in just about every way possible, from communications to management, from ethics to project planning. They're too unseasoned and lack leadership, and its shown from the beginning.

There's no way for this game to succeed under SOE SWG's leadership. They lack the ability, and they lack more credibility every day. How does that matter?

  • More players quit, lacking hope that their ingame effort and overall passion for the game will ever be respected or will ever pay off

  • The more players approach the point of intolerance, the more it is represented in their behavior, in everything from speaking out brashly, with disrespect for the SWG leaders, to using exploits, to not engaging in the spirit of the game that will make it flourish, ... all because it "doesn't matter much anymore." Despair, distrust, contempt.

  • SOE SWG loses the ability to rally support, loses any bank they have with the players, and loses the ability to make things happen.

Sorry folks, game is dead unless SOE SWG peeps are fired and there's a major reconciliation with the customer/player community. That can not happen with the existing SOE team at this point. They're done. Cancel accounts to get them fired and out, to have any chance to save the game.

Tiggs,

The main job of an correspondent is communication.

Communication between the PLAYERS and the DEVELOPERS.

The way I understand, Okram2k was fired earlier today...

Either you Developers START FRIGGIN LISTENING TO THE CORRESPONDENTS!!!!!

Me and a thousands other WILL be leaving, should the State of the Developers not change soon!

Tiggs, please don't insult us. We aren't by any means saying that they should be posting all day. Would it hurt to post once, maybe TWICE a day, to calm us down, let us know what you're thinking? Just a "Hi, hello, still thinking about what to do, will promise to get back to you as soon as we can." That took 40 seconds. There is no excuse for your lack of communication.

There are actually many replies in the CU forum and the correspondent forum from Devs. They do respond when they can.

Tiggs did the devs ever stop and think maybe the reason the overwhelming majority of players hate the CU is becuase it was built consulting with the Correspondents? I mean there was very little community imput into the CU and thats exactlly why it sucks (If there was imput from the community I sure dont see it reflected in the CU)... because the players were left out of the loop till it was thrown at us in asemi-compleat form which I would assume has very little room to change as anything big the community complains about seems to be ignored.

No offense Tiggs, but "Community Relations" is in your title. When you are too busy to do what your title says you do, then I say that SOE is obviously short-handed and has the priorities misaligned.

And "communication" implies a 2-way street. There is a term for people who keeping talking to something that does not respond: it is "insanity". In this case, the SWG forum must be the largest looney bin in the world.

Again I have to stick up for TIggs. To those of you that have a real job and support yourself or a family.. you do what it takes to make your boss happy!!!!!!! Please read that again..... Do not blame Tiggs or TH.. They are doing thier job.. But who defines thier job????

That is the person to blame.

I hate to tell you, but im a singel parent with 2 kids, and I dont let my job take my integrity and I do my job as it needs to be done. If my boss isnt doing as she suppose to, then I nail her with the chain of command. Unfortunately here, we dont have tiggs direct supervisor, so she is left holding the bag. And to be honest, the more I think about this, the more I feel that this has to be the same tiggs from UO that was a complete nutcase on Greatlakes counselor site as the Lead Counselor.

AMEN

And they used correspondents as the scape goats to shield themselves from being accountable to the players directly, "oh, talk to your correspondents," and then all we hear from that point is crickets.

So your saying that the devs are actually some idiotic game nerd that prefer to be in-game all day, trying to remove some crap they themself figgin release with each update, rather than spending 2 figgin minutes once in a while answering and informing the player community?
