Thread: Player Correspondent Opening: Armorsmith
QFE... accounts cancelled. I'll wait till there's a major shake up before they see me reactivate again. Off to some FPS games i've neglected, and, go figure, some family and friends time.

I also have to defend the Devs in this situation. There is an established line of communication, you guys go to Corrs, Corrs go to Tiggs and TH, Tiggs and TH take it to the Devs. When Okram encouraged the spamming of Blixtev's PM box, he not only broke the rules but conceded that he could no longer complete his duties. I know he had valid concerns that need to be addressed and it can be very frustrating to not hear anything back, but that is not an excuse to do things your own way. I hope that the next AS Corr has the same dedication as Okram but better judgement.
Personally i wish all correspondants had the courage and guts to do what Okram2k did. When it comes down to it, if the devs were as good at actually communicating with the community as they seem to be at lying and backstabbing and completely ignoring people. Okram2k's wouldnt have been forced into taking the action they didnt desire.
I've said the same thing... QFE, and as for speaking up and courage... its also despair:
As SOE has lost its credibility to provide leadership of the SWG project, the ambivilance is effecting the success of the game, because players are losing the desire to engage - and why not, all their work of the last two years and investment in SWG has been dismissed, destroyed, and trashed with the introduction of an all NEW SWG.
So that ambivalence manifests itself into the decay of the game:
- Peeps are hostile and non-supportive to SOE's efforts
- SOE can no longer rally support by the community, they are disenfranchised
- Players no longer respect exploits ingame, and just do "whatever", because they dont care to whatever degrees if they are banned, the passion for the game is gone, the desire for it to succeed is greatly deminished
- Players no longer respect forum rules, because they don't care to whatever degrees if they are banned
- Players no longer behave in ways that support the game environment, the success and enjoyment of the game, and the game sours overall
- Players give lousy word-of-mouth, promoting the decay of the playerbase, rather than organic growth of the playerbase through positive word of mouth
We're on a downhill slide friends. And the only solution now is to say "NO CONFIDENCE" to the SOE team and LucasArts, by cancelling accounts.

He rejected that status by breaking the rules. I am proud to show that I did my best to help the community as an ex-Corr, but his actions did not further to help the community's cause. If anything, it's just stirred up more emotion and taken up more Dev time that could be spent fixing the CU. He also did a disservice to the rest of the community by presuming that the AS's concerns were necessarily more important than everyone else's and having you guys spam a Dev. If this somehow established the urgency of a community's concerns, you better believe that the Devs wouldn't even be able to open their PM box. So I know it feels great to hold him as a martyr but he brought it on himself. Can we get back to not making the CU suck now?
I dont think you realize something, with the dev's current course of action and given thier history... there is no way to make the CU NOT suck... Your quite simply an ass kisser and SOE Fanboy.. None of us will listen to you now, none of us really even care about the game anymore.

After a bit of thought, I went ahead and threw my hat into the ring. The fact of the matter is that with so many changes coming down the pike with the CURB, and with the inevitable tweaks, fixes, and overhauls that will follow afterwards, the community will absolutely need a correspondent who isdedicated and interested in seeing the Armorsmith profession remain interesting and useful.
Over the past several days, we've had some good discussion and analysis of what the new system means to us from a production standpoint. I would hate to see any of that get lost in the current kerfuffle, and we need to continue to crank out numbers, if not also ideas.
