Thread: Wookiee armor

I don't agree with the line of thinking that making the armor a bit less effective is enough to justify the continued bare-wookie +700 HAM. I bet if the Devs opened up the metrics, the amount of people that wear 90% composite armor, which you are asking to be balanced against, would be less than the number of Overt Imperials.
Why not? People seem to forget that Wookiees are not the only species with a HAM bonus. Dosh get one too. Yet I haven't seen you ask for their bonuses to be removed. You also have to factor in thata Wookiee will not be able to wear a full suit. This leaves vulnerable areas.
We aren't asking to be balanced against 90% armor. My opinion was to let us wear regular armor but use the modifiers I suggested above. That does make it about as "even" as we are likely to get.
You are right about the amount of 90% armor. But what about 75% armor? That is rather common. A Wookiee takes 8X the damage as someone in 75% and 20X the damage compared to 90%.
I'm not going to debate your calculations, but I believe there are aspects you aren't looking at - maybe an AS can clarify, but the difference between 60% composite and 80% composite is not 20%, it's scaled and the effectiveness is compounded. Again, we are looking at the extreme, high end of the scale.
As to the bonus, no, no one is forgetting that other species have HAM bonuses, but not as severe as wookies, and they aren't in here asking for full suits of armor comparable to composite either as some of your wookie bretheren are, nor are they saying, "We should be stronger, darnit!" at the expense of game balance.
The Devs are going to have a hard time balancing the wants of wookies with the balance of the game and without gimping other species in the process.

Many thanks, from all the wookiees that have been slayed by equal level players in full comp armor.

In total disagreement of this idea. I personally dont feel we need to be walking around with another thousand people who look alike. Ibeleived that the wookie looked that way for a reason. They are meant to stand out the way they do now, not to look like a monsterous peice of metal.
I do however support Limbonik's theory to a great extent. Give the wookies the exact defense bonuses that an armor suit would give, however keep it on a bandolier. Let the wookies be unique from the other thousands of players running around in full composite suits, but give them the same bonuses as the suit. I'm sure the art team can work up something in a matter of minutes.

Have you seen the clothing options a ailable to a wookiee? Variety we do not have.

Hmmm....is that armor? I see a wookie wearing shoulder pads. Dunno if I would call that armor exactly.
So I guess if you're trying to prove that George Lucas has approved wookies wearing shoulder pads, you've convinced us! Good job! The devs should feel free to add wookie shoulder pads in the game now!
If all you looked at was the toy I could see how you could mistake the armor as "shoulder pads". However the comic book images clearly show that "Shoulder pad" as you like to call it is clearly metallic. And from the information I've been assembling from various parts of the internet the "Shoulder pad" is in actuality a peice of mandalorian armor given to Snoova by an unknown source. As I'm sure some of you are still skeptical I'll post another image of Snoova in that armor from the Starwars Collectible Card game. This image clearly shows snoova wearing the mandalorian armor "shoulder pad" and for those of you who appear to be color blind it clearly states an armor rating of 4 is given to this character.

So you've proven that wookies should be able to wear metallic shoulder pads that according to your internet 'sources' are mandalorian armor even though it looks nothing like it. Once again, good job. You've proven that the devs should put in wookie metallic shoulder pads that may or may not be pieces of mandelorian armor.
Again, this hardly consitutes proof that George Lucas thinks that wookies should be able to wear a full set ofarmor.
Hey, Reptilespit, can I go with you to see Episode III? Because I would pay to see the look on your face when you see hundreds of Wookiees charging into battle (wearing full armor) against the Separatists. (SPOILER!)
And yes, this scene has already been confirmed. And yes, I've read Shadows of the Empire, and yes, Chewbacca indeed wears Snoova's "battle armor."
If you want to argue about the EU and continuity, you will lose everytime against someone like me or josfe.
And oh, the Heavy Shoulder Pad is already a craftable item for Tailors. I happen to own one.
Wookiees have armor. Now we will smash you. Everything is in order--Wookiees killing things is definitely continuity. ![]()

Ahh yes give us our defenses on a bandoleer which we can't wear with a backpack on. Good intentions but it's not going to work for us.
