"QFE"

I've been dying to ask this - whta the hell does QDE mean exactly (I get the point of it but not the actual meaning)... and I guess I am either old or uneducated :-)

Ah - quoted for emphasis - makes more sense than http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QFE :-)

And "communication" implies a 2-way street. There is a term for people who keeping talking to something that does not respond: it is "insanity". In this case, the SWG forum must be the largest looney bin in the world.

Again I have to stick up for TIggs. To those of you that have a real job and support yourself or a family.. you do what it takes to make your boss happy!!!!!!! Please read that again..... Do not blame Tiggs or TH.. They are doing thier job.. But who defines thier job????

That is the person to blame.

How about the fact that she gets paid to communicate with us, while the Correspondents volunteer.

Stick up for her if you want, but unless this decision was someone elses and they were too much of a coward to face the fire here tonight, then she made the mess she's in now.

Rules are rules, and the boss is the boss. But when a punishment so blatantly does not fit the crime and a long time volunteer is shown a total lack of respect, then it's really got to make you think about the entire operation, including Tiggs.

I usually defend her myself. I've done it plenty of times on the Smuggler Forum. I've made lengthy posts about her just being the messenger, and the devs were the ones who deserved our ire. Well right now this is HER message, and it stinks. Shame on you and the entire team in Austin. You punish someone for not using discretion by using zero tact or discretion yourself. Not only is it hypocratic, it's completely disrespectful to the players and the entire corps of Correspondents.

What was the crime?

Edit: I am up to date, at least I think, on the AS forum but I have yet to see what the crime was. So that is why I am asking.

The devs working on combat upgrade can either hit the forums and respond all day to your questions or work on CU. I am sure we are all in agreement with having them bang away at issues and bugs with CU rather then post all day.

Is that meant to be facetious?

I don't think anyone wants devs posting instead of developing. They want information.

Feedback is painful and time consuming, which is why there are people dedicated to distilling and sharing information.

Isn't that why TH's role was created?

And then why your role was created?

And also why a correspondent program was created?

Developers should develop. Community relations people should relate to the community.

It's great if you're passing items from the community to the dev team. But acknowledgement and validation needs to come back. A person can spend 15 minutes on any board and get a feeling for the hot-button issues impacting any profession. And yet many professions go months, even close to a year, without any acknowledgement that their voices were heard.

Correspondents can't share what they do know because everything is NDA. Major game-altering changes get introduced that completely blindside correspondents.

The result is wild speculation on the boards and time wasted restating issues that may very well have been passed along already---and even may have fixes slated.

Feedback should be a closed loop, not a one-way street from players to the developers or a black hole into which ideas disappear and are never heard of again.

I agree that you can't blame Tiggs here. She's just following orders. It happens all over corporate America. The people at the top make the decisions, and they have several layers of people in between them and their employees and/or customers. And, unfortunately, people like Tiggs always bear the brunt of the scathing hatred. It's unfair and unfortunate.

Having said this, I do have to echo the fact that it appears that nobody's listening...not just to the AS's, not just to the Entertainers, but to everyone. And, SOE can say they're listening to everything. And, they can say they are responsive. And, yes, I do think they read these posts and the feedback. And, I do believe that they are working to change bugs and make tweaks here or there. In the normal course of gameplay, that would be fine.

However, this is not the normal course of gameplay. This is a major revamp. And, honestly, revamp doesn't do it justice. It should be called a rewrite. And, thus far, the devs have not made concessions to the main concerns of the playerbase, which are directly related to rewriting the whole system...from certifications, to nerfs, to limiting group size, to levels, etc., etc. Yes, they respond, and they come with hazy justifications that never really explain why they had to rewrite the whole system. But, no concessions. You might see one here or there as a tweak like I said above. But, they've decided that this is the system they're going with, no matter how much it sucks, and no matter how muchmost people hateit.

True listening and communication and responsiveness by the developers of the game, in my mind, include a lot more than simply answering questions. It involves actually shaping the game in a way that the playerbase wants and approves of. After all, the game is supposed to be for our enjoyment, right? But, that's not really being taken into consideration here.

They're under the misguided notion that putting this out at the same time as Episode III, and making this game more like EQ2 is going to gain them lots of customers...not only to make up for all the people who will quit, but to put it up to par with EQ2 and WoW. I find it funny how naive that notion is. But, alas, nobody's going to change their minds. They're going to do it. And, then we can all sit back and laugh and point and say, "I told ya so."

Tiggs, please don't insult us. We aren't by any means saying that they should be posting all day. Would it hurt to post once, maybe TWICE a day, to calm us down, let us know what you're thinking? Just a "Hi, hello, still thinking about what to do, will promise to get back to you as soon as we can." That took 40 seconds. There is no excuse for your lack of communication.

There are actually many replies in the CU forum and the correspondent forum from Devs. They do respond when they can.

And this has WHAT to do with 99% of the frustratedplayerbase that cannot access these forums?

The comments are pretty harsh right now but they are all warranted...there's an old expression, don't piss down my neck and tell me it's raining. Everyone of Tigg's post would suggest that this is business as usual and there is no problem.

Better to come in and say hey, we've been busy doing things, we're sorry for the lack of response...anything, but don't come in and say that you've been giving all the information and addressing everything when even your correspondent can't get any answers from you.

Until then, my opinion on the Devs has returned to what it was back in early '04 when I was a Smuggler...Imbeciles who take money out of my pocket to turn the premise of a great game intoa collection of coasters.

Man, I thought the Jedi were a bunch of wussy whiners.

Have you thought that maybe the reason there is no response is because theyre trying to come up with an alternate solution to present to you?

Theres nothing wrong with making your displeasure with a change known. Thats how the devs know they need to change it. But the correspondent trying to start a freaking revolution because something has been on test center a week is rediculous.

I'm glad someone like that is gone.

As long as she wouldn't get fired for doing that, then in my opinion she should have been doing that all along.. Point of my story.. we don't know what her or TH's job is on paper.. we only know what SOE has told us about thier jobs.. Come on. If you are running a for profit company and you have two folks slacking on the job you would cut them very fast.. But instead.. SOE promoted TH and then hired Tiggs.. Think about it.. Maybe TH has some dirty blackmail pics of the SOE CEO and was friends with TIggs to get her a job.. but I would think TH would be higher up than what he is if that was the case.

One more thing Tiggs,

I hope you and the devs understand that the "majority" of the players DO NOT feel the way most of these players feel. If you notice most of the players that started making a big fuzz in general (reguardless of profession) are the ones that under the current "live" combat system have some sort of an "edge" over the rest of the players, in the AS'ers case its those that have 12pt cloths + extremely hard to get resources + insane HIGH quality resources so they have been spoiled by taking over their market as no NEW players or AS'er can compete and since they have the founds on top of that they can sell at just about any price to close out any local competition. With that said, i do acknowledge where you guys are headed and DO see the big picture in terms of roles and balances, so once again PLEASE keep up the great work and thank you for all your efforts as i truely understand how hard it is to create something for masses and have that fine line of "knowing" you will not satisfy "ever" everyone 100%.

Thanks!

Tiggs,

SOE is doing a horrible job with the Combat Nerf. Let me pack up my toon and belongings, and I'll sign up for a non-nerf server in a heartbeat.

You should start spending more time on the forums explaining what in the world you are doing and especially why.

You know, Coca-Cola tried to change their formula once.
