The devs working on combat upgrade can either hit the forums and respond all day to your questions or work on CU. I am sure we are all in agreement with having them bang away at issues and bugs with CU rather then post all day.
Tiggs, please don't insult us. We aren't by any means saying that they should be posting all day. Would it hurt to post once, maybe TWICE a day, to calm us down, let us know what you're thinking? Just a "Hi, hello, still thinking about what to do, will promise to get back to you as soon as we can." That took 40 seconds. There is no excuse for your lack of communication.
There are actually many replies in the CU forum and the correspondent forum from Devs. They do respond when they can.
So many replies in the CU forum and Correspondent forum that the Armorsmith correspondent felt that the needs of the profession were not being heard there? Weaponsmiths and Commandos have seen a lot of posts to ease their concerns, worries, and to explain changes. Armorsmiths have not had anything close to that level and the changes to our profession are to a greater extent.
To see a correspondent go to such an extent to grab attention shows a great deal of how much frustration is even behind the scenes. I just hope that this reaction by SOE follows up with some posts of information concerning the Armorsmith profession. Silence at this time of the game is unacceptable. Take a proactive stance and address the concerns with at a statement that you are looking at Issue A, B and C. You don't even have to answer the concerns with Solutions D, E and F, but just acknowledge them.
My the Force be with you.
otherwise i'm not interested...

Dear Tiggs,
I am reading about this NDAed thing and so... I wonder... Why are you letting us testing the CU, and dont want to post your replies to our concerns in OUR forums? I cant see why I should go to TC-EP3 and test it, if I dont see any feedback for my work there? I mean, I am paying to play SWG on its live server, I enjoy it (still). But when I go to the TC-Ep3 Center, Iam doing something for YOU! Iam helping to get bugs out of the game, and iam raising concerns here and there if this and that is right... and I (and with I, I dont mean myself, but all testersin general)surely deserve some respect for my work for you. And this respect sure implies that OUR forums are attended at least a bit more (in this peculiar time) than they are atm.
A very kind move of SOE would be to make these CU Forums readable... This would be very very kind if your Devs are posting their replies there! I personally dont see any reasoning in making "the so much wanted posts of the devs" UNreadable to us...
Thx and Hope your considering this...

I don't buy that answer either.
The level of communication that we got during the first beta all the way thru about November or December of 2003 was pretty damn good.
After that it has been on a slow downward spiral.
Now I'm not talking quantity here, no doubt with you and TH more posts have come our way. Problem is that the people that are making the decisions don't show thier faces around here anymore to discuss things with us like they used to. It's not the people writing the code that are making the calls here is it? Those are the folks that I want to see poke their heads into the threads around here....it wouldn't kill them to talk to the people now would it?
What's the matter? Afraid that the people here might have valid views and intelligent things to say?
Tiggs I have a lot of respect for you and the job that you are tasked with, my statements are directed at your bosses and their apparent lack of regard for the opinions and concerns shown on these forums.
And I'll ask again - let's see these metrics from the CU outgoing pollsthat are going in the positive direction? I'm willing to bet that the overall rating that we see is either at or less than 50% positive...

No offense Tiggs, but "Community Relations" is in your title. When you are too busy to do what your title says you do, then I say that SOE is obviously short-handed and has the priorities misaligned.
And "communication" implies a 2-way street. There is a term for people who keeping talking to something that does not respond: it is "insanity". In this case, the SWG forum must be the largest looney bin in the world.
Again I have to stick up for TIggs. To those of you that have a real job and support yourself or a family.. you do what it takes to make your boss happy!!!!!!! Please read that again..... Do not blame Tiggs or TH.. They are doing thier job.. But who defines thier job????
That is the person to blame.

Well ... don't hold your breath. They stonewalled CH's for over a year after blowing their profession out of the water, asking for patience because it would 'all be fixed in the CU' ....
So, AS's can look for relief around the time Bush's successor is inaugurated? Whee.
Ah...good ole' Greatlakes Shard. Do you remember Kazola's Tavern outside of Yew? Spent many an evening there. Bad drinks, great service.

And to be honest, the more I think about this, the more I feel that this has to be the same tiggs from UO that was a complete nutcase on Greatlakes counselor site as the Lead Counselor.

thats the problem with the whole world, no one sticks up for whats right....
The problem is that we, as the customer, ARE THEIR BOSS!!! They need to do what it takes to make US happy. If not, then Tiggs should rise up just as the AS Corr did.
I would rise up alot more often if my paycheck did not go to keeping a spouse and children off the streets. This is a business folks. Lets not forget that and lets put blame on where it is due.
gallox wrote:
Are the correspondents allowed to post in the main forums that devs have responded and this is what they said?
If so, this can shift alot of the blame of communication problems from the devs to the correspondents.

I hate to tell you, but im a singel parent with 2 kids, and I dont let my job take my integrity and I do my job as it needs to be done. If my boss isnt doing as she suppose to, then I nail her with the chain of command. Unfortunately here, we dont have tiggs direct supervisor, so she is left holding the bag. And to be honest, the more I think about this, the more I feel that this has to be the same tiggs from UO that was a complete nutcase on Greatlakes counselor site as the Lead Counselor.
We had this same problem with TH though and it appears in other SOE games also so I am leaning on blaming SOE alot more than the person.. But I could be wrong. I do not know Tiggs or TH personally, but I do hope they will do there best. But I also do understand havingto choose between what you think is right and what puts the food on the table. Your job may suck and you may be looking to move on, but you still have to put that food on table. It sucks.

Come on Tiggs don't be obtuse. Players can't see the correspondent forum and I assume that the CU forum is also private.
I used to have a job in developer relations for a large software company - SOEs lack of actual communication with the playerbase is pathetic. Dancing around issues and pretneding that there are no problems doesn't make you look good. It makes you look bad. Very bad.
I have not played the game in some time (been busy in real life) but now that I am getting back into it I see that things have not really changedat all since I left. Why not try actually communicating - answer the questions asked in a direct and straight forward manner.
If you think that the answer you give is going to piss off you player base then guess what... dancing around the questsions is also going to do that. Its better to have a pissed off playerbase that at least respects you for answering the question in a forthright manner than having on that simply despises you for your lack of real communication.
What I, as a player, would like to see is you and the other "red names" take some time tomorrow out of your schedule and actually try to answer, in a compete manner, ten questions each. Doing that would put you (SOE) in a much more positive light. The players realize that you cannot have people taking lkarge amount of time out of your days to babysit the boards - but at the moment the pendlum has swung too far the other way.
Given the extreme changes to the game NOW is the time for you to babysit the players a bit more and give some real information. Even if players are not happy with the answers at least they will be happy with the fact that the answers were given.
