Thread: Wookiee armor

Hmmm....is that armor? I see a wookie wearing shoulder pads. Dunno if I would call that armor exactly.
So I guess if you're trying to prove that George Lucas has approved wookies wearing shoulder pads, you've convinced us! Good job! The devs should feel free to add wookie shoulder pads in the game now!
If all you looked at was the toy I could see how you could mistake the armor as "shoulder pads". However the comic book images clearly show that "Shoulder pad" as you like to call it is clearly metallic. And from the information I've been assembling from various parts of the internet the "Shoulder pad" is in actuality a peice of mandalorian armor given to Snoova by an unknown source. As I'm sure some of you are still skeptical I'll post another image of Snoova in that armor from the Starwars Collectible Card game. This image clearly shows snoova wearing the mandalorian armor "shoulder pad" and for those of you who appear to be color blind it clearly states an armor rating of 4 is given to this character.

So you've proven that wookies should be able to wear metallic shoulder pads that according to your internet 'sources' are mandalorian armor even though it looks nothing like it. Once again, good job. You've proven that the devs should put in wookie metallic shoulder pads that may or may not be pieces of mandelorian armor.
Again, this hardly consitutes proof that George Lucas thinks that wookies should be able to wear a full set ofarmor.

Great argument, but do you think George Lucas likes the idea of a bunch of people roleplaying Wookiees permanently losing faith in the Star Wars universe because of SOE's armor policies?
If you don't want Wooks to LOOK armored, fine. Any solution which would let an end-game Wook and an end-game Human compete on an even playing field is fine by me.
Thank you TH.
Thank you to the Wookiee community that kept this issue pressed.

Of course not. You misunderstand my motives. I'm all for helping out wookies. But when I see posts about wookies wearing armor in Episode 3somehow as a fact(wookies fighting in Ep3is a well known rumor, wookies wearing armor is not) and how an EU story has a wookie wearing metal shoulder pads somehow means wookies wearing full armor is official, I just have to respond.
It's lame enough to see Jedi's running around in full composite armor, but seeing wookies running around in armor will be yet another easy and lazy solution a known problem. And like Jedi's running around in full composite, it will seriously take the Star Wars feeling away from the game.
There have been countless suggestions posted as alternatives to wookies in armor in this thread and others. I'm all for giving wookies more protection. I'm just for more intelligent ways of doing it.

The Wookie Bandolier
The Wookie bandolier (WB from here on out) would be considered (guesswork mostly at this stage) the "chest plate" of the wookie armour. This item could be made by Armoursmiths, and given Resist/Encumerances to reflect armour.
But I see what you wookies are getting ready to say already: "W.T.F.? That's just a chestplate, we wookies want a full suit of armour, like humans get." So, here comes part II of my bandolier idea:
The Wookie Bandolier Cartridge
The WBC would be in a nutshell, the other pieces of armour. These would also be made by Armoursmiths, and given the Resist/Enc wanted, and then could be made to "drag and drop" onto the WB and (once attached) they are forever. Just like any other armour, you would have to purchase a new WB and WBC in order to make another armour type that would benefit you in a different situation (much like we should need more than one type of armour as well.) the WBC would take no "space" in the WB, which would also be dual-purposed as a "backpack" for wookies as well. The WBC would also be able to use armour tapes in their construction.
I like this for three reasons:
1) We'll be fully armored (yay!)
2) People who complain that Wookiees appearing to have armor on would ruin the experience for them (but Wookiees in the Imperial army and being able to be resurrected indefinitely are OK) won't be able to b!tch about it.
3) No one will know if you're wearing armor, or how covered you truly are. This might instill some of the fear and uncertainty that we should be able to bring to the hearts of our opponents.
ok, ok, I admit it, I started the "great Garva censorship debate":
1) I had no idea my byyg "woot" would do that to the thread; lesson learned
2) what can I say? I'm a byyg wookiee ==> I got a byyg woot![]()
I do find it funny that the same people who kept telling us dumb wookiees how "armor isnt that big a deal" couldnt let this thread get 10 minutes old w/o coming here and "whining" (sound familiar?) about how "uber " we are gonna be now that we have access to this supposedly useless tool...

I, for one, couldnt be happier...its been a long time coming and I'll enjoy getting back out into the fray with my guildmates again and feel like a integral part of the team.
Thanks again, youve made this wookiee's day.
