Fact is, it wont be nerfed. As I have stated before, it is merely a break that people have found to get through the Jedi Grind faster. Once the Combat xp is fixed, the break will be fixed, and it will return to the way it is supposed to be. Why they dont just fix it, and have to wait for CU is beyond me. Shouldnt take much to do.

My thought, which didnt seem to appeal to anyone judging by the response, is to increase GCW related combat skill received for each faction kill you make (ie against humanoids). It wont be as hight as 5000 pts, but it will give people a way to earn combat skills at a pace comparable to the 3 week system that is currently in place.

I am a TK, and Pistoleer. At 400000 xp per buff, converted at 30:1, doing 3 buffs a week for 1.2 Million pts, it would take me 30 buff sessions to do this for each branch. Now....

30 buff sessions per branch, at 5 buff sessions per week = 6 weeks per branch.

6 branches = 36 weeks

The village takes 21 weeks for most. (assuming one bye-phase) Now, that will affect the number of buff sessions I can log so I can fulfill other tasks = assume 4 weeks of time where I couldnt do my five.

That is 40 weeks.

This is only counting xp gained from unarmed/pistol.

I am alittle agitated that weapons xp trades at 30:1, yet other professions, like entertainer, trade at 9 or 10:1. That is friggn ridiculous.

Give us more xp for the combat that we choose to engage in where GCW is concerned. This will reduce the total time needed to complete to around 26 weeks. (6 months) And I want to add, that as a paying customer, I feel that 6 months is an ETERNITY to have to do this. It should not have to be longer than that.

Hehe, you have probably never looked at how fast you can rack up entertainer, medical, survey, etc. xp. Trust me. Favorable conversion rates notwithstanding, there is a really good reason everyone is nade grinding most of their trees vice entertainer grinding. It takes insanely long to get the non-combat xp.Hence the better conversions. How many of you are grinding bounty hunter or survival xp?Great conversion rates! Oh yeah, ittakes forever to accumulate.

I know quite a few that took up Jedi hunting just for the Inv xp Many of the guides in the stickies have the conversion at 1:1, but I've been told its 5:1 now. Still better than combat xp - just takes longer to get.

It's not a "break" in the system.

It's sole purpose is to allow a casual gamer some hope of any level to get through the FS grind in less than 2 years' time.

True, power gamers can use it to get through their xp grind insanely fast. This, however, has a trade off. As all things in SWG do. You must have the grenades made, or spend the money for them, replace your armor, in addition to the vehicle repairs to go to the village and back a billion times.

Regardless of how fast anyone can get xp, it's meaningless unless the skills is unlocked.

If someone spends at least 18 weeks, or roughly 5 months, of their life unlocking branches in this Village system, I could care less how they get the xp or how fast it's gained. They've spent 5 months unlocking their branches. They got the xp one way or another. They deserve the Jedi.

There will be no "fix" to grenades because there is nothing broken with them. They fill a very specific role - allow a casual gamer to get a Jedi in any kind of timely manner. This faster method of xp gain is balanced by the heavy cost involved.

I don't care if someone caps their weapons xp every day, at a 30 to 1 ratio for FS xp, and the 90k combat xp gets 3 to 1, and they get their xp done in 6 months - or if they cap their combat xp a ton of times at 3 to 1 and get their xp grind done in weeks. It doesn't matter. They unlocked their trees and they have their xp.

So with all the crazy comabt XP that TKM / 4000 commandos are able to earn by throwing grenades at baz nitch lairs...I was wondering if ne1 could make an educated guess as to when something like this maybe NERF'd. I would guess it would be in the new combat revamp, but what the heck do i know lol

I'm sure the grenade grind will be nerf'd. Not necessarily the use of grenades for combat xp, but I think under the new system it just won't be possible to stand at a lair and throw nades at it unless you are a double elite master.

I really don't care if it gets nerf'd as long as I finish all my FS boxes before then

Why should it be nerfed?

There are doctors/rezzing that are getting as much xp as the 'naders. Just take a trip to the village and watch the fight clubs, they are just fighting and fighting, rezzing and rezzing.. ad nauseum.. The CU will fix the 'naders but the doc issue will still bethere so they will just move to that.. They will still take them 6 phases to get Jedi, it's not a faster way to get Jedi.

Sometimes, I just don't understand folks..

How does someone using nades, affect 'your' game at all?

There will always be a 'fastest way to get somewhere' it doesn't affect your game, if you choose to use the shortcut it's there for youas it's always been.

I agree with you Aikko- not saying it does affect anyone's game. There will always be a fastest way - I just prefer the current fastest way to the future fastest way which won't be as fastest lol.

It does take 6 phases IF you had no free unlocks, but that is also assuming you are grinding yer butt off and keeping up with your unlocks. I took a year off, then returned and was just enjoying myself playing some JTL, but now that there is even the remotest possibility that I won't be able to nade grind as effectively as I can now, I'm grindin my butt off....at least until after I kill Mellichai then I'll relax and play some more JTL

I disagree. There is absolutely nothing in this game, in the FAQ's, in the manual to suggest, even imply, that grenades are put in the game to ward high yields of combat xp so the "casual gamer" could level faster. That is completely unfounded. It is a broken system, like other places in the game it needs to be fixed. It will eventually be fixed, and until that time comes, enjoy them while you have them, but when it is gone, do not complain.

For those who still don't get it.

I'm sorry. That post doesnt reflect anything from a dev stating that the issue with grenades giving 100% combat xp is part of the game. As far as I am concerned. It is broke. It will be fixed. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I hate repeating myself over and over. I agree doesn't say any where in a manual anything about that. I am not knocking the fact that combat xp probably should be fixed for naders (which definately affects me). BUT.... it makes not difference. This point has been debated over and over in the forums and not been even faintly addressed by the devs. You know they read these forums, and I believe a fix would have nerfed it 8 months ago when I started.

Here is the thing guys and gals...I can cap my unarmed and be done with the xp grind in the same amount of time as it take for the server reset. Yes I have to kill 3 times as many things...so instead of wiping out 3 gurk nests I wipe out 9. I can wipe out a nest faster by useing unarmed spin than nades...maybe even 3 times as fast. So, I willl be trading apples for apples. Yes doc's get a break, merchants get a break, entertainers get a break, scouts get a break, but none of that is in the manual either, but I haven't seen a post yet that says "scouts get a 8:1 conversion...nerf them!" It seems that only the combat profession have a problem with nades, and there are many of us who choose this road.

Because it is not in the FAQ's or manuals doesn't make it "illegal". The examples above are not in the manual either saying "this is to give a break to the doc's so the grind is not so bad", but we all know that is why it is there. Weapons trade at 30:1 becuse it is too easy to get....not many things on the is server I can't solo....so what would be the point in a 5:1 conversion on weapons? The Dev thought this through and only the ones who really want this are goin to attempt it, either change your template, grind out master marksman and then commando plus your other profession, or spend your time killing things at a 30:1 conversion and spend the same amount of time getting to Jedi.

Do you really think that if they nerf this people aren't going to grind to jedi anyways? Will the commando nerf really stop the jedi? If you think this is going to have any effect you much be looney. People will still grind. People will still wait about 3 weeks for each branch, and we will still have the same amount of jedi, in the same amount of time. It is NOT going to change anything, speed, amount of people grinding, or the ridiculous amount of Jedi on the server. Just hasspens to be the chosen way.

I never said it would stop anyone from getting Jedi. All I stated was that something was broke and until it gets fixed, to enjoy it.

For the most part, you can I have been on the same page Xan. I do see a change in the future. I dont' think it is broke, I think it is over used to a point. As has been said many time before there will always be a "Easier" way, things will change and then we will be debating something different. I believe this was probably on purpose to give the combat profs a better exchange rate, because to make only the combat professions a 30:1 exchange would be wrong unless you gave all prof the same rate. I think this was their "make up" for that. The rigid time frame put even this in check...so noone goes any faster than anyone else. Probably not the best way to do this but I believe it was on purpose.

BTW I saw your other post...BH...yick now there his a grind that is ridiculouslyhard....good luck on that...and I am glad you are on another server! Just don't make an alt BH on Flurry. lol
