Fine with me, the extra 50th of a shot worth of HAM wasn't helping me anyway.
I'm assuming you also want the Trandoshans to lose THEIR HAM bonus, right? Otherwise they'll be wearing full armor AND have a HAM bonus nearly that of a Wook, with added melee defenses AND regeneration.
And this thread probably won't be looked at again by any of the folks in charge, but PLEASE give us a full suit of armor, as mentioned here. Even if we have a miniscule HAM bonus (this only matters when unbuffed and taking on weak targets, mind you) for a month, I don't think anyone will care. But I'm going to be a very sad Wookiee if my head, shoulders, knees and toes (knees and toes!) are stull vulnerable. And make sure you make it high-resist like Composite, I don't want to be running around with 50 extra health points but 45% effectiveness armor =)

Wookiees have been asking for a balanced approach. We've also suggested ways to make armor equal to existing armor but negates our HAM bonus. If the Devs read thru a number of posts on this subject I believe they can come up with a fair system.
This myth that every Human walks around with 90% composite is just that - a myth. Yes, it exists - but it's rare, expensive, and...oh, rare. Not to mention that most humans can't even wear a set of 50-60% without a buff.
I'm just afriad that if it's on a different system, inherently capped and "balanced" based on wookie's extra HAM that a) wookies will never be happy, because they will not get the satistical equivalent and can never be convinced (as evidenced above) that their extra 700 HAM is a huge bonus, and b) non-wookies and wookies will forever be calling for the nerf bat on the other.
I don't think you'll see many calls for species nerfs.
Wookiees want to be able to compete. They want to be able to use one of the few loots that are worth having, armor attachments. We want to be able to last more than a few seconds in PvP. We just want the same options the others have now.
It would be impossible to make it completely even to balance our HAM and negating it with amor. Though it can be close.
There are times like you stated that the extra HAM does come in handy. This is an advantage for the Wookiee. But you can balance that out by making Wookiees in armor SLIGHTLY less effective in armor.
At this point, with the "combat balance" and everything else getting so complicated, maybe it's time to simplify - give spieces other non-HAM bonuses to compensate and keep it "interesting".
Already exist slightly in the racial bonuses such as Bothan camo bonus. Though I think there should be more of them and have them actually be more useful. Each race should have a couple bonuses that are actually useful to a number of different professions.
I think right now on paper at least the Wookiee has the most of these. However of the five, one has already been nerfed to uselessness and one or two more are about to get nerfed. That will drop them to two or three.

My Stamina maxes out at 500. That's pretty awful.
And I have a 650 strength minimum, so there goes a chunk of my stats that could've been made up with buffs instead.
I hope, those armors will looking just Wookie-wearables, but with armor-stats.

This is awesome news. Please Please Please just use the artwork from some of the Formal Wookiee Clothing for thisarmor art. This way they will still retain their look with the added necessary protection of armor.
As an added bonus, thsi would be easier for you guys too 
Okay guys there is now a lot of tension about the new wookiee armour, what should be changed to make it
balanced etc. etc. but we haven't even seen a piccy of it or heard anything about the stats. I say we
just chill and wait to see what the armour will do first, then feel free to start the "Bun Fight At The O.K Tea- Rooms".
I would just like to say though that although 90% resist armour is rare it is possible however hard to
get, I would assume the high end wookiee stuff would be just as hard to obtain (I doubt it would be as
high as 90% though).

More propaganda. Want to see a wookiee wearing armor? Lets look at the book "Star Wars: Shadows of the empire" which happens to be part of the expanded universe. In the book we see the most prominent wookiee in the known starwars universe Chewbacca wearing Bounty Hunter armor as he impersonates a bounty hunter named Snoova in order to sneek into Prince Xizors place. Below you will find links to the images of chewbacca wearing this armor. These pictures prove that Wookiees can and Do wear armor, not only that but this also proves that Mr. Lucas himself approves of wookiees wearing armor in the Star Wars universe. So if you got a problem with continuity I suggest you give good ol' George Lucas a call....
