Whichever architect started saling small houses at 10k or less screwed the rest of us over. I can sale rescources for 3c-4c per unit within an hour of posting them. 10k for a small house is very little over 3k per unit.

I was thinking 15k for a small house is a good target, but there is no chance anyone will buy at that price these days. I dont make houses to sale to player besides those in my PA because i can easily make more by selling rescources.

Havent made it up far enough the skill tree to make anything else, but if this is a continuing trend, I wont have a single customer outside my PA.

the worst part tho, is its very likely the reason someone sold\sales them so low is from duped rescources

This is one of the reasons I LOVE SWG. You do have power hungry tyrants like Dumin and penny-ante shysters that are around only a week and a majority of honest bussiness men/women/things. Thats what the real world is like when you introduce a truly free economy (which America is not a truly free economy anymore). Unlike the real world though, I won't starve to death for failing to be a good architect. I can be the type of architect that I want to be without fear of any serious repercussions.

Dumin has shingles and and a few other unmentioned problems. He/she compensates by attempting to exert control somewhere for a feeling of security when in the real world Dumin is feeling very insecure. Don't hate Dumin. Take understanding and compassion in knowing that Dumin is trying to feel better. One day Dumin will realize that pain and strife isn't the way to feel better but he won't learn until he is ready to learn.

I'm a novice architect trying to break my way into the market on Intrepid. I can't harvest ore fast enough and no one will sell it for a price I can afford. Other people may undercut me and customers may be unrealistice (which I have found neither of yet). And I just found out that I am being sent to Toronto for the next three weeks on business as a "reward" for good programming skills. So my shop won't open for another three weeks.

These are all wonderful challenges to met met with courage and honor and integrity. Is there any economy breaking architect issues? No I don't see any economy breaking issues only challenges that arise out of a free market with changing resources. There is a glut of certain resources and prices drop from 8credits down to 2 or 3 credits. Thats economics at work. Hack architects last about a week (they can't afford to stay in business). Thats economics at work. Hacks and Tyrants both will take a loss to undercut the competition for various reasons which force the avergae joe to work harder. Thats economics at work.

Are there bugs with the architect system that effect the economy? Yes. Technical failure of factories, bad schematics. Sure, but when you think about that...isn't that apart of real economics as well? When has a new technology (or untested technology) ever worked flawlessly the first year of production? Did the first automobiles or space shuttles or aircraft or tv's go smoothly into the market? The fact that MOST of the architect schematics and products work at all is a huge break from reality.

Go with the flow and relax. It's all works out in the end. And watch for the grand opening of the Bo-Nes Supply Co in three weeks!

I agree, I love SWG economy for the same reasons.

My small group generally sells resources for1.5 to2.5 cr per resrouce and items for 3-5 cr per resrouce to make it. But that is a guideline, not a rule. The proper price for ANY item is always the same, it is the price that a customer base is willing to pay.

Many crafters overcharge ( my opinion ) and some undercharge ( also my opinion ). But that is what business is all about, Wal Mart is what it is today by selling many smaller things for less than the price to put them in stock.

Hard to argue with sucuess.

I have only gotten one you are to expensive since becoming a novice architect about 4 weeks ago. I don't ever sell anywhere but my vendor in my house. And word of mouth alone keeps me in more buisness than I can handle. If you are pleasent to people chat with em and explain things they don't understand I usually find that they have no issues with my prices.

I charge

15k for smalls (not worth the time otherwise) and they do sell I just drop em on my vendor.

65k for mediums

150k for large

15k for medium harvester

120k for Heavy

So far it hasn't been an issue for me. I know I should probably charge a little bit more but im slowly working my way up to 1 mil and im happy with that.

In reality we should probably be charging

50k for small

150k for medium

300k for large

50k for medium harvesters

200k for heavy

Why? 1 because we put alot of time effort and frustration into our buildings and second at the lowball prices some are charging houses are starting to be everywhere which is going to cause other problems. The second set of prices would slow down sales still make us as much and mostly remove the need to change anything about buildings like adding some decay which I destest even the thought of.

Dumin: Enjoy your virtual money.. haha. Great so you will be an urban engineer.. you will make some more new cool buildings.. then what? You will still be more or less a useless (and filthy rich) architect with too much virtual money. You pump out 40 small houses a day?? how long does that take u even if u get all the resources spoon fed to u.. Sounds like a lot of work for nothing. Its a game not a real life business u know?

and you know what? YOU CANT drive me out of business .. u know why? because i have plenty of loyal customers and my furniture business in itself can earn me 30k a day. I have almost 2M in bank and I can easily become urban engineer if I wish.. but u know what? I probably wont because architect is U L T R A boooooooooooooring. Not because of you.. It would be ultra boring EVEN IF I got the price i wanted. I dont want to spend 2 hours a day working on clicking same stuff over and over again so I can make some more viritual money.. You are fooling yourself if YOU and people like YOU are the ones responsible for driving architects away from their profession.. no its the fact that this profession is one of the most useless and boring profession in the game as it stands.

I am not in PA but i can STILL have atleast 30 heavy harvesters running IF I WISHED because a lot of my customers are willing to let me use their unused lots. BUT WHATS THE FRIGGIN POINT? I am not paying 15 bux a month to slave labor in a **edit** game.

I had an encounter with someone last night asking my price on a large harvester. We all know they tak a significant amount of resources. I think I mentioned a price of 110K or so. I have seen them go for more but I am happy with this price as it is a lot of factory made items (Annoying) and so many chances for crit failure on expensive pieces.

He laughed and said, "I know people selling them for 30K!"

Am I wasting my time? Is this guy being given resources by the Devs to see if they can screw the architect profession even more?

** throws his hands up in the air **

I think I will give Urban Planner a chance to set up my PA. After that, I may just say screw it.

he was a griefer. 110k is too cheap. 150k is a "fair" price for a large house, myself I would charge more. just ignore those people tell you stupid things like that.

Tempest, your first list of prices is fair. Could prolly get away with charging a little more at the current time. Your second set of prices are also good, just not at the current time. Raise your prices slowly. Customers will adjust. The supply/demand of structures is already adjusting(slowing down) therefore price raising is needed in order to make enoughmoney to stay in business. Also consider this.... there are about 50% or more people in the game who have millions. They can afford it.

I've gotten to where I price installations at 6 per resource and furniture at 8 per resource. I don't have much time to play, only about an hour or so a day, and most of that is spent maintaining harvesters. However, when I'm asked how much, I tell them, then I explain how many resources are required. After I explain to them, most understand, and if they don't then too bad.

As for those selling way underpriced, I've bought their items just for the resale value. Hey, I'm playing this for fun not for the power. Of course, all of this is dependent on how much credits are available, and most are going for harvester maintenance. Luckily, I have a friend who helps (a lot).

Now if I could just sell a few larger machines to pay for my harvesters for more than a couple days at a time.

Player X: What are your prices?

Me: For what?

Player X: What can you make?

Me: I'm a Master Architect, everything.

Player X: Well what are your prices for a Equipment Factory, Med House, and a PA Hall?

Me: Well that's quite an order but assuming I don't fail I can make it tonight, 50k, 75k (85k if generic), and 1 million respectively.

Player X: Youre a (*&() ripoff. Those prices are *^()) outrageous!

Me: Hmm, that's less than 20 credits a resource, the average price of a firearm or armor works out to 26.25 credits per resource. The bonus is that if you pay the maintenance, these never decay, unlike weapons or armor.

Player X: Thats still a ripoff! I can get the factory for 15k and the house for 30k!

Me: The day weapon and armorsmiths make less than5 credits a resource, overall,is the day I care.

Player X: Ill just go buy from someone else.

Me: See you later.

--------------later-------------

Player X: Can you build that stuff for me? Not the PA Hall but the house and factory.

Me: Sure. 135k credits.

Player X: OK.

Me: Couldn't find anything cheap eh?

Player X:

Me: *Muwahahahaha* (laughing all the way to the bank)

------------------------------

Scenario 2

Player Y: Selling all medium harvesters 10k! No limit!

(tells friend to buy 20)

Friend: I'll take 20: 3 mineral, 3 water, 3 gas, 11 chemical.

Player Y: Ok it'll be bit.

Friend: OK I'll be right here slicing.

~six hours later~

Friend: How are those coming along?

Player Y: Just a little longer... (repeat ad nauseam)

~to date we have never heard from Player Y about those harvesters. We have seen him hollering prices and everytime we walk into town that are wayyy too cheap. (.5 credits / resource) Everytime we take him up on the offer (to shut him up) he runs off and never comes back. He is intentionally setting the price lower without having *any* product.

Hmmm, I think I'll start another character and "selling t21 rifles!1k credits! Selling composite armor 900 credits! All brand new and unsliced!" and screw over the weaponsmiths and armorsmiths

I wish we could paste urls into SWG, I'd post this one everytime someone started complaining. I'd say "Check it out, people are happily paying 6 per resource on X server, you should be so lucky I'm trying to get 4 per resource!!!"

Well, there's one thing people like Dumin will never understand...It's that I'll certzainly never have the Avian City built by someone like him. After all , he stole a PA Hall from us already at launch (yes, it was us who made the mistake of powerleveling him), so I don't truts the guy, cheaop or not cheap.

Second, you can't "drive architects out of the market". Because guess what, architects don't have to eat daily, so they won't be looking for another job. Your scheme could work in RL , but not in an online game.

Third, peopel wanting to be urban planners will be urban planners. I think you will understand we're certainly NOT planning to trust you with lots of resources again, you've failed us before.

Fourth,
I'll happily help any urban planner I can if it can annoy you. p
