Thread: And I quote: Holy s#$t, you are WAY overpriced
honestly, I very rarely ever sell houses anymore. I can still sell the raw materials at 4 cr per unit in mass quantities so why would i bother risking fails by making those materials into a house? I can just sell materials forever, I don't care ifI never sell another house.
Kristi,
I have heard of you
You sold a prior customer of mine a PA Hall for 250k Rhylor I believe his name was I'd have to double check. You see the way the architect community works you are bound to run into the other master architects if you are doing decent business. I talk in depth with my customers not just heres my price take it or leave it. They share information with me, i.e. who is selling what at what price and what their waiting lists are. I give small discounts (like 5k) for such information as it is valuable to my business and pricing.
The point I was making earlier about him wasn't that he WASNT doing what he said (although personally I do doubt it). But that if he was .. he was having no impact on anyone elses's business. If you've got guy A selling 3 pa halls / day at 250k, word is going to spread FAST. Yet I , and every other master arch i've talked to since this thread started have no problem selling them for 350+, and not a single person has come back saying "Well Doomik also has them on hand and wills ell them for 250". Again i'm not going to argue that hes not selling 3/day it is technicaly feasible to do so in a vaccum, but hes having no effect on my business so more power to him.
The thing he doesn't seem to realize is that I make 10x his profit, and only manage _10_ harvestors, and have more money then him. In order to manager 100 harvestors you are talking 5+ hours/day just doing harvestor runs, and hes getting nothing for it. Now that .. is sad ![]()
I do 6-10 credits per resource, depending on difficulty, and have no problem telling people to find someone else if my prices are too much, I just shoot to break even, if I get enough money to pay for harvesters, then I'm set, 95% of everything I make goes to the guild for free anyways, that 5% pays for all my harvesters so that guild doesn't have to support me.
I won't argue what prices are fair or not, I just charge what its worth to me to make structures.
I'm part of a PA, but that doesnt necessarily mean that I am getting funded by them. From what I see in this thread my prices are quite high, but I am able to make sales due to my name being spread around and customer service.
I can relate to the WOW you charge that much for a <structure>, ive seen them for <price set by powerleveling architect, or blatant lie>.
I stick to my prices and tell them to go get the item from him/her.
Hey if Anyone out there wants to sell me structures for 2creds per unit I will gladly buy them. Im positive I can get alot more for them.

I have, more or less, stopped searching for new business. I am not yet a master achitect, but can make large homes and large installations. That alone allows me to work through established clients to get new business. I definatetly quote my standard 3.5 -4.5 credit per resource price for all new business, but once they are an established client I always ask if they have clipped the 10% coupon from this sunday's add section of the local theed newspaper. Amazingly they all have that coupon handy =) . If a new business customer doesnt like my prices, I am happy to let them go find their product somewhere else.
I enjoy working with my customers to get them the house/installation that they want, for a reasonable price that covers my cost and risk, but doesnt empty their wallets.Occasionally, customers tip me several thousand credits because they like my service.
I probably could get more business and cash if I were more aggressive and cut-throuat, but.....who wants to be a rich jerk? I enjoy friendly people and a good game -- bugs and all.
Cheers!
Don't worry about idiots like Dumin, he's obviously lying about his "affect" on Chilsastra. The truth of the matter is, architects who undercut like that are basically working a lot harder, spending more time, using a LOT more resources, and cranking out a lot more of a product. And for what? To make a profit that is the same as an architect who sells his PA Halls at a decent price? You could sell 1/3 of what someone like him sells, and just as long as your prices aren't severely undercut, still make just as much money as him. Now as for him duping, I wouldn't rule that out. The resource dupe was just a horrible blow to the game as a whole, and I hope all the people who used it get banned.
That is why I laugh at the undercutters. They are doing more work for the same result.

Everytime I hear that, I ask for the sellers name so I can buy 100 of them... It's funny that nobody has ever told me a name of the seller.... ^_^
I'm also not looking to make a killing, but I do have fifteen medium and heavy harvesters to pay for, and am having a hard time doing it because of this pricing problem. I'd like to break even, but who doesn't want to have a little extra? I'm a guildmaster and I'd really like to help out my newbies with their training, and I just can't do it without an income! The guild undercutters are not going to go away because they don't care at all about the profession as a whole and what they do to it.
Btw, I really like the coupon idea! I think I'm going to make some real ones!
